In many cities it is the colored population that tends to commit more crimes. You can say "well they have not been given the chance" like whites have or you can say that the establishment does not allow it. Or like todays mantra it can be said that they are targeted by police because they are black. But I see it as a cop out. Most of America is not prejudice I myself have not seen it the way the media has. its a cop out to blame society for the problems one brings on themselves. The easy way out. is why this thing that is happening today and is counter productive, once color is taken out of the equation its simple. crooks will be crooks and with all the talk about "hands up, don't shoot" you would think people would actually do it and stand up for themselves if they knew they were doing no wrong.
I think there are way to many laws out there and to add more because a few cannot understand the law is wrong. We as a society are stagnating with our laws and personal beliefs will never be persuaded by laws to correct it. Only ostracizing by society will and the media does not help at all in that aspect. The media will toss this out as soon as something more sensational comes out. Its up to people to do it and going over the limit about calling people niggers or crackers or fags or cripples or any other derogatory word should be dealt with by the person its pointed at not by some law that says you must not. Standing up for oneself goes a long way.

That's because the Whites, Mexicans and Asians are all out working so the Blacks don't have to.

Here's another case, the cop was charged today.
He says he thought he drew his stun gun & not his revolver.
These are the yahoos that are in charge of making your streets safer. Jesus Christ. Some of them are as big a menace as any thug.
Prosecutors charged a reserve sheriff's deputy with manslaughter Monday in the death of a man who was fatally shot as he lay on the ground at the officer's feet.
Tulsa County prosecutors filed a second-degree manslaughter charge against 73-year-old Robert Bates.
A police investigator has said Bates, who is white, thought he drew a stun gun, not his handgun, when he fired at 44-year-old Eric Harris, who was black, in the April 2 incident.

I'm getting bored with your inability or unwillingness to keep up. I'm keeping up just fine HoTD. I'm just not letting you off the hook for your racist comment. Your questioning of if this man had been shot if he was white was a racist comment. Just because you're defending the black race doesn't make it any less racist. That's part of the problem with discrimination today. Who cares what color the man was? He shouldn't have been killed. End of story. The fact that he was black just means it will probably be protested for the very same racist reasons.

Of all the recent stories, I actually feel a little badly for that "cop". I don't know if it was poor training or, as I understand it, he wasn't a full-time cop, his age...whatever but I think he really DID accidentally shoot that guy. The results are the same (somebody died needlessly) but I think he genuinely meant to just taser him.

A 73 yr old cop...really? That's too old to be a cop on patrol. If they want to keep working till they die...give them a desk job.
Indiana police had a mandatory retirement age of 60, until last week. Now it's 70.

Yeah, it does sound like this shooting death was unintentional and caused by incompetence.
If the cop is convicted of manslaughter, I won't be surprised if he gets a very light sentence and the family of his deceased victim gets a sizable financial settlement.

I haven't looked to have it further confirmed but I just heard Lester Holt say he's a volunteer.

My understanding is that he was a reservist under the supervision of the PD when he apparently shot the man by accident.
On a separate note, I read today that the second officer at the Walter Scott murder scene may be charged. It's being alleged that he didn't render any kind of aid to Walter as his report reflected; he only checked Walter's pulse.
An audio recording of some of his conversation with Slager was released today and is reportedly adding fuel to the fire.
Snip:
The calls for Officer Habersham's arrest come as a newly released audio recording apparently reveals Slager laughing after the shooting.
In the recording, Slager can be heard asking an unnamed senior officer what would happen next.
"They’re gonna tell you you’re gonna be out for a couple of days and we'll come back and interview you then," the senior officer is heard saying in the clip. "They’re not going to ask you any kind of questions right now. They’ll take your weapon and we’ll go from there. That’s pretty much it.”
The senior officer also urged Slager to write down his recollections of the incident.
“The last one we had, they waited a couple of days to interview officially, like, sit down and tell what happened. By the time you get home, it would probably be a good idea to kind of jot down your thoughts on what happened,” he advised. “You know, once the adrenaline quits pumping.”
“It’s pumping,” Slager said, laughing as he spoke.

Oh, it's a little stickier than he's just a volunteer... apparently wealthy donors in the 'reserve deputy' program ride along fairly frequently. I know they have to pass all the requirements to become and remain reserve deputies, but holy shit, use them like they should be used! Watching parking lots, doing simple public service work, etc.
"Bates apparently is not alone as both a donor and reserve deputy. While the Sheriff’s Office has not released its full roster, Clark said other wealthy donors are among the agency’s 130 reserve deputies.
“There are lots of wealthy people in the reserve program,” he said. “Many of them make donations of items. That’s not unusual at all.”
Bates has donated multiple vehicles, guns and stun guns to the Sheriff’s Office since he became a reserve deputy in 2008, Clark said. The Sheriff’s Office did not have an itemized list of donations made by Bates available Monday and deferred that question to the county commissioners’ office, which tracks those items.”

After being shot, Harris says he's losing his breath, to which an officer responds, "Fuck your breath". Yeah, that's going to help tack a few more million on the lawsuit...

If you really believe that I've made a racist comment or defended any race over another in this thread and it bothers you, you might get some relief by checking your glasses, or your vocabulary, or your comprehension, or your ego.....or you just could consider me a racist. It's not a problem.
Making a racist comment isn't forbidden at Mock, in any event. I could do it all day long if I was so inclined. There's no hook to be had.
This is a fact Gunnar: Aside from your own contributions, you have no control over the content at Mock. None.
You can fling "what about the cancer kids?!" and "racist!" at me all you want. You can obsess over previous comments, insist that topics of discussion are inappropriate or offensive, continue being the only one to keep bringing up what you claim should be a forbidden topic, and all that jazz........ I have no desire or power to stop you from doing those things. You can keep bitchin' and protesting to your heart's content.
Still, none of what you say or do will change the fact that I am not going to censor myself, nor will I attempt to censor other posters, nor will I restrict subjects of inquiry and speculation beyond the rules for LC's Cell Block. I'm not going to make any changes in order to conform to your comfort and approval levels.
I don't care if you feel uncomfortable or offended in here Gunnar. It's your choice to be here or not; THAT is one thing you absolutely can control.

Ain't that rich.
Release their fuckin' names so the whole world will know who they are. They can hide behind MS and everyone else that thinks it's okay to do what they did.
Still no names released.
I think Pusok's attorney and the city or SBPD attorneys are probably trying to negotiate a settlement and keep the situation below the public's radar as much as possible.
Pusok was treated for abrasions and bruising, released from the hospital and booked Thursday night at the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of evading, stolen property, reckless driving and theft of a horse.
He was released Sunday night without announcement and was scheduled for a court hearing June 16. San Bernardino County prosecutors said today that no decision on whether to file formal charges had been made.
There would be no question as to whether formal charges would be filed against Pusok had the video not captured his beating IMO -- that may be part of negotiations.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with this one.
I'm glad Pusok didn't die.
