Apparently happened Saturday. Cop sops a guy for a broken tail light, there is a scuffle, cop tases the guy, guy runs and cop fire 8 times hitting the guy 5 times.
THEN he lies....
It's been two and half years since you posted the first story in this thread Six.
Since then, we've seen the bystander video of former officer Slager shooting Walter Scott 8 times in the back, from a distance, while unarmed Scott was running away.
We know from the video and from the state murder trial that Slager's statements about what went down don't match up to what actually occurred and that Slager planted his taser next to Walter Scott's body. And still, a South Carolina jury deadlocked. He hasn't been retried by the state.
Walter Scott's family was awarded $6.5 million in a wrongful death settlement.
Now, Slager's sentencing trial for violation of civil rights to which he plead guilty is underway. He faces 5 to 20 years.
In attempt to get the lightest possible sentence, Slager's attorney is using Attorney General Jeff Sessions' inaccurate claims that he never met with any Russian operatives during the election in Slager's defense.
Slager's attorney says that just like Sessions, Slager didn't lie to authorities multiple times. Instead, the attorney claims, they both just don't remember correctly for a number of reasons.
That looks like a transparent attempt to influence the judiciary to me. "If you punish my too client harshly, you're condemning your own boss, Judge", kind of strategy. Strange.

The pre-sentencing report recommended a max of 13 years. The judge was not bound by that recommendation and just sentenced Slager to 20 years.
Before the sentence was handed down, the judge had to decide whether the shooting amounted to second-degree murder or manslaughter. Judge Norton found that it was murder. The judge also noted that Slager was guilty of obstructing justice by floating a false narrative and lying to investigators after the shooting.
The bystander video showed that after shooting Walter Scott in the back 5 times from a distance, Slager picked up his stun gun and placed it next to Scott's body. Slager contends he was securing the weapon. Prosecutors (and most people who've weighed-in on the video) believe he put it there to bolster his self-defense story.
In court, members of Scott's family talked about Walter and how they missed him every day. They also told Slager, 'we forgive you Michael'.
An emotional Slager told the Scott family that he was grateful for their forgiveness.

This Police Chief is not only a child predator, but also a real numbskull.
Prosecutors say 40-year-old Michael Diebold, who last year married his fiancee on tv and lost part of his arm in a fireworks accident, is charged with two felonies: unlawful contact with a minor and criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. He's being held on $500,000 bail.
He was reportedly being watched by LE after it became known than he was trying to lure underage girls into sexual hookups on-line, posting under the username 'Kutecop4U'.
The attorney general's office on Friday arrested the Leechburg Police Chief at a spot in Westmoreland County where he had allegedly hoped to meet up with an 8 th grade girl, who turned out to be an undercover cop.
His wife Danielle Reinke Diebold seems to be devastated and disgusted. She sent a statement to CBS Pittsburgh, the statement is included in the first link below.

I really hope all the piece of shit cops involved in this corruption case get at least 25 years in prison.
^ Det. Evodio Hendrix, Det. Marcus Taylor, Sgt. Wayne Jenkins, Det. Jemell Rayam, and Det. Maurice Ward.
Four of them have already pleaded guilty and testified against Taylor and Hersl (another defendant, not pictured) who both chose to fight the charges.
The jury in the racketeering and robbery trial of Taylor and Herl is now in deliberation.
It's not clear when the other four members of the unit who pleaded guilty will be sentenced. They are hoping their testimony against Taylor and Hersl will help them get lighter sentences.
According to the evidence and witness testimony, these gun-unit cops committed all kinds of crimes against the community they were sworn to serve and protect; they harassed people without probable cause, shook people down and stole from them, staged home invasions to steal drugs and then sold them back into the community, defrauded their department, routinely lied to other officers and in initial testimony in order to cover-up their crimes, posed as federal officers, etc...
Cases against 125 suspects who were targeted by the corrupt cops have already been dropped and more cases are expected to be thrown out.
A good Baltimore cop, Sean Suiter, was killed in a park in November 2017. He was slated to testify against the bad cops the day after his murder. There is a good deal of suspicion that's what got him killed; Suiter's murder is still under investigation and no one has yet been charged.

Follow-up to Post #969 -- BALTMORE COPS FOUND GUILTY
^ Detectives Daniel Hersl and Marcus Taylor chose to fight their charges in court. A jury convicted both on Monday of racketeering conspiracy and robbery, but acquitted them of possessing a gun in a violent crime.
The six officers who pleaded guilty admitted to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs, cash and jewelry from people they encountered on the streets. Some officers nearly doubled their salaries by billing the city for overtime hours they didn’t work. They admitted to lying on reports to cover up the schemes.
One Philadelphia officer still awaits trial in Baltimore. Prosecutors said Eric Troy Snell, a former Baltimore cop, partnered with the rogue cops to sell cocaine and heroin they seized from Baltimore’s streets. Snell remains jailed; his trial has not yet been scheduled.
U.S. District Judge Catherine Blake will hand down prison sentences for the eight officers, a five-man drug crew, one bail bondsman and two other civilians. All were linked in a web of crime that stretched from peddlers of deadly heroin in Northeast Baltimore to a celebrated unit of plainclothes police.

Sentencing
Hersl and Taylor each face as much as 60 years in prison.
The six cops who pleaded guilty face maximum prison sentences ranging from 20 to 40 years. Sgt. Wayne Jenkins, one of the task force commanders, is scheduled for sentencing on April 12. He faces as much as 30 years in prison. The other five have not yet been scheduled for sentencing.
The five men found guilty of operating the heroin ring that led federal investigators to the corrupt police (one detective has admitted to running interference for the drug dealers) face maximum sentences ranging from 40 years to life in prison.
Three civilians have pleaded guilty to crimes committed with the officers. They admitted to helping the officers rob a South Baltimore couple of $20,000. They are scheduled for sentencing March 9. They both face as much as life in prison.
Bail bondsman Donald Stepp pleaded guilty to drug charges last month. The Baltimore County man admitted to selling cocaine and heroin supplied by one of the officers. He’s scheduled for sentencing April 6. He faces the possibility of life in prison.
I don't think the civilian criminals should be facing much harsher sentences than the cop criminals for some of these crimes, but maybe that's because the non-cops have lots of priors.
Anyway, at least these assholes were busted out and will likely spend a number of years behind bars.

This cop is a total disgrace and a threat to public safety. I'd knock his dick in the dirt out of pure adrenaline if I saw him beating on of my young family members (or anybody's else's kid for that matter).
^ Jack Danford, a five year member of the Williamson County sheriff’s deputy, was arrested by Austin police at Oakwood BBQ in North Austin on March 3. He was originally charged with resisting arrest and public intoxication and has now also been charged with injury to a child.
According to police and court docs, Danford was shitfaced. He refused to leave when asked by restaurant management. He went outside where the 12-year-old girl he did not know was waiting for her stepdad and playing with their dog. That's when Danford started punching and kicking the girl.
Bystanders heard the girl scream for help and forced Danford off of her. Danford also refused to let loose of an arresting officer until he was hit several times with a baton.
A police spokesperson said Danford deserved the firing he received because he reflected negatively on the department. Well, sure he made the department look bad. But, much more importantly to me........he deserved to be shit-canned because he's a fucking dangerous dipshit who beat up a little girl and should never be on the loose with a baton or a gun again, much less get paid for it.

Follow up on the Corey Jones Murder
Looks like a trial
Hope they bury this asshole
Stand Your Ground needs to be fixed, not deleted
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/edit...story.html
Nouman Raja didn’t just lose his absurd “stand your ground” claim. He lost big, and he deserved to lose.
It has been nearly three years since Raja, then a police officer in Palm Beach Gardens who was working plainclothes, fatally shot Corey Jones. According to an expert witness for the prosecution, Raja violated every protocol of proper police procedure in approaching Jones’ van. It had broken down on an Interstate 95 exit ramp.
Yet his attorneys claimed that Raja was the victim. As such, they argued, Palm Beach County Circuit Court Judge Samantha Schosberg Feuer should dismiss the charges of attempted first-degree murder and manslaughter under “stand your ground” because Raja feared for his life. Jones, Raja said, had aimed a gun at him.
Raja’s attorneys rolled out witnesses. Their testimony, however, couldn’t overcome Raja himself. Based on the evidence, Raja is lying. Feuer agrees. As she wrote in her 27-page ruling, “The court finds the defendant’s sworn statement testimony unreliable and not credible, primarily because his sworn statement during the walk-through was inconsistent with the physical evidence.”
When he told his version to investigators, Raja didn’t know about an audiotape of Jones speaking to a roadside assistance operator. The tape disproves Raja’s claim that Jones was the aggressor.
Indeed, Feuer demolished Raja’s defense like an investigator during an interrogation. Before Raja fired a second, three-shot burst, he said, Jones turned as if trying to point the gun with his right hand. His brother testified that Jones was left-handed. Raja claimed that he called 911 before firing that second burst. In fact, Raja didn’t make that call until 33 seconds after firing.
Raja, Feuer wrote, “is unable to choose which of his statements are inaccurate due to perception distortion (on the recording) and which are accurate for the sake of his argument.” Raja claimed that Jones’ gun — which he carried legally — had a red laser. It did not. As for Raja’s claim that Jones drew his weapon and became a threat, “Defendant’s unreliable testimony is all that supports that proposition.”
Ideally, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office never would have had to make this defense. Raja’s trial already should have happened.
But “stand your ground,” which the Legislature passed in 2005, allows defendants much more ability to claim immunity based on self-defense. Last year, the Legislature expanded “stand your ground” by placing the burden on prosecutors to disprove a claim of self-defense — through “clear and convincing evidence” — rather than on a defendant to prove it.
Raja had every advantage. Feuer even noted that two appellate courts have disagreed on whether “stand your ground” applies to law enforcement officers and concluded that it does. Raja still lost.
That’s because of the evidence. Raja wore no body camera. His van didn’t have a camera. Fortunately, however, Jones was on the phone.
That recording shows a calm, non-threatening Jones as Raja arrives. “I’m good,” Jones says. “Really?” responds Raja. “Yeah,” Jones says in a calm voice. Feuer takes it from there.
“The next words that are heard are the defendant’s yelling loudly and rapidly: ‘Get your f------’ hands up! Get your f------’ hands up!’ ” After Jones replies, “Hold on, hold on,” Raja yells for Jones to get his hands up again, three gunshots are heard, and then the sound of a bell consistent with a car door bell when it remains open.
“The court finds, and common sense dictates, the evidence shows the defendant had his gun drawn when he jumped out of the car and approached Jones. It was upon seeing the defendant — in plainclothes with no indication, understanding, or knowledge that the defendant was a police officer, pointing a gun at him — that it was then, and only then, that Jones pulled out his gun in response.”
Nor is there evidence, Feuer said, that Jones fired his gun. The evidence supports the charges against Raja.
Despite the ruling, another two years could pass before a trial. Raja’s attorney will go next to the 4 thDistrict Court of Appeal. The losing side surely will appeal to the Florida Supreme Court.
The reason for this delay and waste of money is “stand your ground.” The National Rifle Association could cite no case of wrongful conviction — or even prosecution — in a self-defense case when pushing for the law. News reports have shown multiple abuses of the law. Last year’s expansion requires prosecutors to make their case twice, potentially giving defendants an advantage.
Nouman Raja should go to trial. “Stand your ground” should end.

This is a tragic incident that went down on Monday.
It all began early Monday morning, when a naked man pushed through a front door and entered an Aurora home. The intruder pulled a sleeping 11-year-old off the couch, then attempted to strangle him and drown him in a bathtub.
That's when the boy's grandfather Richard “Gary” Black (pictured above) bolted into action, grabbing his gun and confronting the unrelenting intruder.
Black, a 73-year-old decorated war veteran, fought back with his stepson, Chad Hayashi, but the naked man refused to back down, continuing to attack the boy and smashing a vase over Black’s head. The grandfather, who had a concealed-carry permit, then fatally shot the intruder with his 9mm pistol, an attorney for his family told The Denver Post.
When Aurora Police Department officers arrived at the scene at about 1:30 a.m., a cop shot and killed Black, whom authorities said was still armed. The department later issued a statement saying the scene was “chaotic and violent” when cops arrived.
Black was taken to the hospital after he was shot, and later died. The intruder was found dead on the floor of the bathroom.
“He was a wonderful family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and caring for his garden,” Black’s half-sister Elisa Black-Taylor said, “He will be remembered as a hero, both for his service to his country as well as to the family who loved him.”
The officer who killed Black is on administrative reassignment with pay. He is currently under investigation for another fatal shooting that occurred about a month ago, the Black family's attorney Siddhartha Rathod told The Daily Beast. The lawyer added that typically, officers under investigation are placed on administrative duty, but this one was back in the field.
