I am so sick of this shit. It's sickening to read about and saddening too. Lying bastard cop. Jordan was a good kid from a nice family. His teachers liked him as well as his coaches. He wasn't a thug.

You and me both.  It pisses me off.

The police officer who killed Jordan is Roy Oliver.  Not only did he lie about Jordan and company backing up towards him (as they left a house party), none of the teens was armed and police have uncovered no evidence they'd been drinking.

It was Jordan's 16-year-old brother who was driving the car.  He had to witness his little brother's killing.  '(

It's not enough, but it was good to read today that Oliver has been fired following an internal investigation.  The boy's family said in a statement they don't condone violence or threats against law enforcement after police stated they had received death threats in the days following the shooting.  The Edwards family also urged people not to protest or march in retaliation.

Former officer Roy Oliver was found guilty of murder today.

It's the first time in more than 40 years that an officer has been convicted of on-duty murder in Texas.

The Edwards family is relieved that justice has been served.  Jordan was beloved by his family; he was a good student who got his head blown off right in front of his 16-year-old brother by a lying cop for no justifiable reason whatsoever.

Oliver faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.  I doubt he'll get the max, but he'll definitely do several years.

Roy Oliver was sentenced to 15 years in prison today for the murder of Jordan Edwards. He will be eligible for parole in 7 12 years.

Oliver was also fined $10,000.

I'm so glad Oliver and his partner were wearing body cams; that was key evidence for the jury.

In addition to the direct evidence, the jury heard how Oliver had pulled a gun after his truck was rear-ended and bragged on Facebook about being skilled at killing a week before he shot Jordan to death.

Dallas, Texas

This is a bizarre and sad case.

Botham Jean (top left), 26, was shot to death in his apartment by Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger (top right).  Guyger is a four year veteran of the force.

Botham worked for accounting firm PwC since graduating in 2016 from Harding University, where he often led campus religious services as a student.  Rest in peace.  His mother is devastated and is upset that Guyger was allowed to remain free for days before being arrested.

In a public statement, the mayor said that Guyger got off duty Thursday night, parked on the wrong floor of the apartment complex, entered Botham's apartment believing it was hers, and shot Botham.  He died of a gun shot wound to the abdomen.

Guyger was arrested on manslaughter charges Sunday night and booked into jail in neighboring Kaufman County before being released on bond.

District Attorney Faith Johnson said her office expects to present a "full case" to the grand jury, but didn't give a timeline. She said the panel will be able to weigh "all aspects" of the case including possible charges of manslaughter or murder.

She said the Texas Rangers, who are also investigating the case, made the decision to issue the warrant for manslaughter.

Ok parking on wrong floor is believable. Can happen

But how the hell was she able to enter Botham's apartment
with her key! Not believable!

I know that sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, but c'mon, how do you not immediately recognize you're not in your own home.

Some more details, according to police:

--Officer Guyger, 30, had recently moved into the apartment complex.
--She had just finished a 15-hour shift.
--She mistakenly parked on the wrong floor and didn't notice Botham's red welcome mat or the wrong apartment number when she put her key in the door and it opened.
--The door opened to the dark apartment because Botham Jean hadn't locked his door that night.
--Guyger detected movement inside the apartment and thought she was being burglarized, so she just shot in the dark (totally negligent for any responsible gun owner, much less a cop, in my opinion).

Been following this since it happened the other day. Pretty dipshit move on the cops part but I can see how it happened. She will probably go down for it, and rightfully so IMHO. It only took a couple hours for the race baiters to jump on the band wagon and start claiming racism. I seriously doubt there was any of that. Watching the PC do her presser she did nothing but prove the fact that she is an over educated idiot. She spoke for 15 or 20 minutes and said nothing

I like a good murder mystery (I watch too much Dateline), so i’ll hypothesise what I personally believe happened.

She had just recently moved to the complex, correct? I think she and the victim had been intimate and maybe she discovered him being intimate with another woman? She then wanted to exact her revenge so she arranged for him to leave his door unlocked (like so many times before during their liaisons) and concocted the story about walking into the wrong apartment.

She’s a cop, she’ll never be charged for ‘accidentally’ shooting someone, right? I’m sure she thought she’d get the benefit of the doubt.

Sounds fairly believable to me.

I don't know Rockford.

Police say that Amber Guyger did not know Botham Jean. I tend to believe that she was tired, mistakenly went to the wrong apartment, and irresponsibly/negligently shot twice in the dark when she was surprised by motion in the apartment.

Manslaughter is an appropriate charge, in my opinion, if that is indeed what happened.

If you're right and Guyger had a relationship with Botham, police should be able to uncover phone calls, texts, witnesses and/or apartment complex surveillance footage to dispute the current narrative.

Yes, the cold, hard truth is:

Most of Rockford’s theories were right (he had good writers) while mine are generally wrong.

The current story just sounds so ridiculous (no offense to the victim) that it doesn’t seem believable.

She was exhausted and some person was in the dark in what she thought was her apartment, I doubt she could even tell his race when she shot him.

Wrong floor, wrong apartment, shoots at something she can't see. Jesus Christ. She sucks as a law enforcement officer and deserves to be stripped on her title, badge and gun and she better do some time. There are those who have done far less and are spending years in the slammer.

I agree.  It was a homicide caused by extreme negligence, based on what we know now. Guyger was off duty at the time, not responding to a crime in process. She should not be treated any differently than any other irresponsible gun owner just because she's a cop.

If this turns out to be true, Guyger has some serious explaining to do and the current police narrative flies out the window.

Seconds before Amber Guyger shot Botham Jean on Thursday, witnesses say they heard a woman in the hallway shouting: 'Let me in, let me in'.

They say they then heard gunshots then a man yelling: 'Oh my God, why did you do that?'.

She claims she thought it was her home and became suspicious someone was inside when she arrived to find the door ajar (that's a change from yesterday's reporting) and that she only realized she was in the wrong apartment after fatally shooting him.

Guyger called 911 afterwards and was seen pacing in the hallway on her cellphone.

There are toxicology tests pending on Guyger.

Guyger told police that she had never met Botham Jean before Thursday night and that she thought he was an intruder in her home when she arrived mistakenly at the front door.

She said she gave verbal commands but that he ignored them and forced her to shoot.

She said she only realized that she had entered his apartment, and not her own, after she shot him dead in the dark, turned the lights on and called 911.

Honest mistake you say? There is a woman out there who wasn't aware she wasn't supposed to vote, she did and now she's in jail. There's an honest mistake for ya, pal. The woman we are talking about is a trained officer who absolutely should have known better, ANYONE who has ever shot a gun knows damn well that you don't ever shoot a weapon without seeing what you're shooting at.
