Yes, it is. I haven't had to leave home to buy weed in many years. It gets delivered, just like take-out.

Sounds so 'walk-in-the-park(ish)'

Good to have an established relationship with your dealer.

I wonder if they were new clients of his?
This means that it wasn't a quantity big enough to distribute. In other words, Jose killed them over a couple of grams at the most.

What kind of stupid fuck would bury them 10 feet out the back door of his own house?

Yeah, it's asinine alright, IF it's true.

We're only hearing what the accused murderer supposedly told police, and that's coming second-hand from Tina's family. So, it's just hearsay at this point.

Whatever the motive, I agree with Six that it was pretty brazen and stupid to bury the couple on his own property.

Anyway, I hope LE is able to confirm some details at the press conference today.

I read a tweet that said he shot them with a .22 and borrowed a backhoe to bury them.

The stream kept buffering for me, but here are the new bits I got from the press conference.

This is information that police have gotten directly from the suspect, Jose Valenzuela. It is not all confirmed by LE.

-- He knew and partied with Mike and Tina for two years.
-- They did meth together.
-- An argument broke out at his house on the night of the 21st and he shot them each in the head.

The Sheriff says there's still a lot of investigating to do and unanswered questions to be addressed.

Meth is not a recreational drug, that is for damn sure. .

Read on my news feed, that Mike was a United pilot on medical leave and he and Tina had been married for a year (had a beach wedding) June 2014. She had 3 children from previous relationship and he had two....This info is probably in one of the links above....but just wanted to pass this along.

I looked at their wedding pictures, etc. on Facebook. Both have accounts. It was a beach wedding....

Looks like Jose was high on it when he killed the couple. He claims Mike and Tina were too.

Snip:
Valenzuela told investigators he and the couple have been acquainted for the past two years and used methamphetamine together. Sheriff Babeu cautioned that toxicology tests were needed to confirm the allegations.

Authorities said Valenzuela brought meth to the couple's home the day before they went missing, Father's Day. Then they went to Valenzuela's home later that day and Valenzuela brandished a weapon during a fight.

Valenzuela made statements to an investigator that led to a search for the victims on his property. Babeu said Valenzuela borrowed a backhoe from an unsuspecting acquaintance to hide the bodies on his property in Maricopa.

"Instead what he did was he built, not a makeshift grave, but an actual 6-foot grave," Babeu said. "He put these victims in that grave and buried them."

Two bodies were recovered from Valenzuela's property and identified as the couple, authorities said. The grave was not noticeable initially because the suspect had piled other debris and materials on top of it, Babeu added.

Police had to have been looking at Valenzuela as soon as they got Michael's phone records.

Investigators may have been able to play this second "person of interest" and Valenzuela against each other.

I wonder if there will be a second arrest, or if police will instead give the other guy a pass if he helps convict Valenzuela.

Sheriff's deputies believe a second "person of interest" lives at the same home where investigators arrested Jose Valenzuela, said Pinal Country Sheriff Paul Babeu (pictured above), and detectives are trying to sort out "conflicting stories" regarding the disappearances and deaths of Michael and Tina Careccia.

Valenzuela said the man drove the couple's car from the residence and discussed with Valenzuela what they were going to tell police.

The second man told investigators that he heard a gunshot and saw Michael struggling to get up off the floor. He said he then saw Valenzuela threatening Tina with the gun and fled the residence.

Michael Careccia had made several calls to Valenzuela on the evening of June 21, and Valenzuela was identified as a friend who was at the Careccia's party earlier in the day.

Court records show an extensive, if comparatively innocuous, history of Valenzuela's previous run-ins with police.

Pinal County Superior Court records show Valenzuela was arrested on Aug. 6, 2008 and accused of two counts of aggravated driving under the influence in Maricopa.

Although both charges were felonies, Valenzuela was allowed to plead guilty on May 5, 2010 to endangerment, a lesser felony, and a misdemeanor DUI charge.

A judge ordered Valenzuela placed on supervised probation, with the understanding that he could serve a minimum of 10 days in jail if he failed to comply with the terms. The court document said he had no other DUI arrests within 84 months of his arrest and no drug convictions or any prior arrests for violent crimes.

Valenzuela completed the probation on May 3, 2012, according to court documents.

This story is something else, for sure. I wonder what they argued about? I wonder if family members knew mike and Tina used drugs? Were they actual addicts? Did they know Jose was their dealer? If the second suspect fled in fear after Jose refused to give him the gun, then why didn't he call police...and if he indeed drove the car, then why was he no longer in fear for his life?

I think most of the long time members of Mock already know this from previous posts about border crossings, but Sheriff Paul B. is gay.....and I don't like his politics, but think he is a handsome man.....

POI Felix Rios Nunez, a friend and housemate of Valenzuela, told investigators he was awakened by the sound of gunfire, according to court documents.

Nunez said he saw a wounded Michael Careccia using a chair to try and get up and Valenzuela pointing a gun at Tina Careccia, who was on the floor. Nunez said he fled in fear after Valenzuela refused to give him the gun and pushed him.

Source: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/man-q...e-32173528

But, according to Wildflower's links, Valenzuela claims 38-year-old Nunez did meth with he and the couple and that Nunez was present for the killings and helped in the cover up.

Either way, Nunez let the Careccias' family and hundreds of volunteers search in vain in the hot desert for 10 days. I hope he gets charged with something.

The Probable Cause doc for arrest of Jose Valenzuela

http://lmgcorporate.com/ktvk/news/070215...-cause.pdf

Valenzuela reportedly confessed over the phone after evading in-person meetings with police.

According to the doc, he told police that he went to the Careccia Father's Day bbq and delivered some meth to the Careccias (for whom he'd also done some previous electrical work). Later that night, Mike kept calling him for more meth. Mike and Tina then came to his house and left in their car with Felix Nunez to go pick up some meth from a supplier. They returned to Valenzuela's home and the four got high together. That's when the argument broke out between Valenzuela and Mike, the two men wrestled, and Valenzuela shot Mike and Tina Careccia with his .22 caliber.

But, Felix told police he was sleeping in his room when he was awoken by a gun shot. He then saw Jose holding Tina down with one hand and pointing a gun at her with the other while she pleaded with him to calm down. Felix said that Jose wouldn't give him the gun, he was scared, and he fled.

Still no reason for the fight. If they had already paid for the meth, and done the meth...what did they fight about?
