I guess I just think that so many people who are impaired, particularly a drunk or someone on meth, never seem to have a reason for the fucked up shit they do. They could be set off by something as simple as you inadvertently bumping into them as you pass by.

I'm interested in the results of the pending toxicology testing on the bodies and wonder if Valenzuela will attempt a self-defense claim -- like claiming that they were all meth-fueled and the couple tried to attack him or rob him or something.

The guy who said he was asleep and had nothing to do with it. Nunez. Jose says the opposite...that he was very involved. I tend to believe joses,story. Much more plausible.

Yeah, I don't believe Felix Nunez is being totally honest either.

I think LE knows that Jose Valenzuela pulled the trigger; he "essentially confessed" and he was carrying the suspected murder weapon when he was arrested.

But, Felix's story seems very self-serving. It's possible LE is questioning him again and again; trying to get as much out of him as possible and note inconsistencies before filing any charges against him for his role. I hope he's not lawyered-up already.

Tina's Family Speaks Out


Tina's daughter ^ Blayke Perry, 22, said this is the hardest day and she'll never understand.


Tina's brother ^ Mike Perry also spoke out today about Valenzuela's meth story. 'I am skeptical about that; especially Tina, she was very dedicated to her children and she seemed very focused on that.'

I'm usually wrong, but I'd bet that the tox report will show drug usage.

It's hard to imagine ending up buried in a drug dealers backyard without having partaken.

I thought the same thing when I read that Mike was a United pilot on medical leave. I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions, but it fits the theory/association IMO.

An interesting tidbit....I read their posts on FB. I wasn't stalking. People either select private or public settings.
These two were high school sweethearts but ended up having children with other people/relationships; they reunited at some point and had a beach wedding a year ago. It appears her oldest daughter was one of her bridesmaids or Maid of Honor....I just gleaned this info from posts on their FB pages.....so sad....

I really hope they were not druggies who got themselves killed by dealing with low-life scum.

They didn't deserve to be murdered, even if they were recreational or chronic drug users.

I won't be surprised if the tox results come back positive for meth. But, hey, up until a few days ago, I wouldn't have been surprised if Tina had robbed a bank by force or free-will either.

Anyway, yesterday, the family denied the meth allegations and issued a long and detailed public statement to set the record straight, from their perspective.

VICTIMS' FAMILY PUBLIC STATEMENT

We have heard comments and statements made by the news and people online about the number of people who live in the house. Allow me to clarify this subject for you to see how close the family members and friends are. The Dugan's built the home everyone believes was Michael's more than 10 years ago, the truth is Mike purchase the property next to the Dugan's and they were building their home since last year. They were staying with their children at the Dugan's while construction was on progress. They started by building the garage, so they could store all their personal belongings. Unfortunately "someone" burned it.

While it is true that on father's day they had a gathering of friends and family, it is not true that the people who attended were aware of anyone doing drugs. All who know these families can attest of that. Yesterday, after many hours of speaking about this, we came to the conclusion of what may have happened that night, according to what we know and witnessed.

Jose came to celebrate father's day as a guest, this man was doing work for the family and the family out of kindness invited him over to come with his child to celebrate father's day. The people who were there that night said that Jose looked drunk and that they over heard him talking with Michael about knowing who burned their property. Michael and Tina had years of memories which were torched on that property, therefore Michael was insisting on getting the name of who did it. Jose would not say who "she or he" was. At one point every body said good night, every body went to sleep and no one saw them leaving or being taken.

We believe that Michael may have gone to ask Jose about the person who burned their property and that may have been what triggered Jose to do what he did. Why is he lying? we do not know. He also lied about not knowing where they were. We are waiting for the toxicology reports; however, even if they came positive, we will never buy the story of them coming to him for Methamphetamine.

We would like to add that Michael and Tina were both amazing human beings, loyal friends, excellent parents and you can tell by their five children. Luke is a very strong young man with kindness in his heart and strength that has helped him overcome all this. Blayke just graduated from cosmetology school, doing what she loves, always supported by her mom and Mike. We wont bring the names of the other three children at this point but they are also great kids. Mike and Tina were the kind of people who will take you as one of them and will do anything for you. The reason why we were able to pull out such huge amount of resources was because people know who they were, and were worried about their disappearance. The plane, the helicopters, drones, all was time donated by close friends, people who have known them since high school and some since elementary school.

You wonder why there are so many people missing and this particular couple caught the attention of the whole nation. Well I can tell you that they have friends in many states that were praying and using any skills and resources they have to find them.

Attached you will find photos of the couple, you can see for yourself that they do not fit the description of a Methamphetamine user, it seems to us that what has been said about their involvement with drugs is due to the psychotic behavior of Jose who was under the influence of this drug. As sick and twisted as this man has shown to be, we could see him not only shooting them but also trying to inculpate them by premeditating everything he did.

Once again we thank you for all your support, we will be attending the memorial tonight, we would like to ask for your patience as to getting any statements tonight, this has been a very exhausting two weeks, we need your help to let people know Mike and Tina for who they truly are, and we need to have their children live with the real perspective of who they were.

Here's the story on the arson from last year.

Tina (last name withheld) is quoted in the piece and indicated that she and her new husband lost about $20k worth of uninsured personal property, along with sentimental items.

It's definitely possible.

I'd want to know who claims to have overheard Jose talking to Mike about the fire-starter and whether or not those witnesses spoke to police before the meth allegations were made public. That would contribute to how credible I found the claim.

Did you notice in the family statement that they also stated that even if meth shows up in the tox results, they won't believe that Tina and Mike went to Jose's house to get meth? If the family is looking to claim that the couple was forced to take meth in that case, I don't think it will be very believable.

Plus, meth use over time can be determined by forensic hair follicle testing. Since Jose is claiming that he did meth with the couple many times, I'd think the ME would do hair follicle testing in this case (and, if Jose is telling the truth about the long term meth use, his defense attorney will definitely want that test to be run, IMO).

I don't know when the tox test results will be finished or whether they'll be revealed to the public.
