If your problem involves falling asleep, I can't see what they can do for you (except give you the common advice on the subject and/or some pills).

Common advice: Go to sleep at the same time every night, make your bedroom for sleep (or sex) only....no t.v.'s, computers etc. I was told recently that you ought to even cover every "dot" of light in there. If you have a cell phone in there charging and there's any lights on it whatsoever, they should be covered. I think illuminated clocks are a no-no too.

Or...you could just wear a sleep mask, I suppose. I've started doing that not for getting to sleep but because I found I was waking up with the sun. The first bit of sunlight and my eyes would open even though I hadn't had near enough sleep. So, I have a satin little sleep mask...kind of sexy when my husband reaches over and I can't even see it errr, I mean him, coming...I mean...oh never mind.

I've slept well the last few nights. I have that medical marijuana appointment today but I think I'm going to reschedule it. I still want it (just in case) but there's a good chance that even with an appointment, I might have to wait hours to be seen and I've got other things I need to take care of.

No unfortunately in my case it has nothing to do with light, it has to do with after I sleep for 2 or 3 hours, & I get up, I can't "clear" my mind of thousands of thoughts.

So my mind is racing and I can't fall back asleep.

I'd like to sleep in. But Theo climbs on my head and tries to chew on my hair at 4 or 5am every morning. I get up and feed him. Then he comes back and chews on my ear. He wants attention. He's lucky I love him.

I read somewhere to write all of your thoughts and list of things to do in a notebook and put it in a corner of the room before you go to bed. If you wake up with racing thoughts tell yourself it's all covered in the notebook and nothing you can do about it right now anyway. Then think of something that has nothing to do with work or family. But don't count sheep because that's boring as shit, I've tried that one before.

I used to be able to picture myself in a small rowboat, on a glass smooth lake. And I just very slowly rowed, left stroooke, right stroooke, left stroooke, right stroooke, and eventually (not too long) I fell asleep. No more.

Now, I can't get that relaxing picture in my mind, it seems like a million things are zinging around in there, and I can't slow it down! And I get as restless as a rattlesnake!

Heh. Sounds like a metaphor for jacking off.

Maybe you should stroke the worm when you wake up?
