I used to respect the man, but he's seriously shown himself to be loose-lipped, vindictive, and not clear-minded, in my opinion. He actually said that there had been no terrorist attacks in the U.S. prior to Obama. Jesus, the man has spent 15 years talking about how he managed the aftermath of 9 / 11. And, he said he never saw NY Senator Hillary Clinton at the Twin Towers site after the attack, even though there's a picture of her walking right beside him hours after the attack (he back-pedaled that one). Every time I see him these days, he's either frothing or smiling ear-to-ear about some secret he can't tell. It will be surreal if he gets appointed Sec of State; he strikes me as a terrible candidate for that particular job. I'd rather see Bob Corker get the appointment. At least he seems focused, sane and has experience having served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Hell, even Newt would be better than Giulani.

This woman has had her hand in organizing the Trump protests in California.

Some of the potential cabinet candidates being announced or leaked by the Trump camp also have me shaking my head. In every winning presidential campaign, there are loyalists who get rewarded with posts or positions in the new administration, no problem. But, appointing people to crucial U.S. cabinet positions based only on personal loyalty, regardless of qualifications, would be disturbing. Key cabinet positions should be filled by people who can well serve our country in those roles, period. Ah well, if terrible nominations are put forth, I trust that there are good patriotic Republican politicians who will reject them, even if it means facing the potential wrath of the Executive. Likewise, I trust that there are good patriotic Democrats who won't try to block the nominations of qualified appointees just to obstruct. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I hope Donovan gets some time to pop in soon. I kinda miss that ex-humblebragger, and I'm curious to hear his thoughts on the developments of the last week.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would long for George Bush. I'm so torn these days. I didn't watch or read politics for almost a week, I only saw headlines. I can hardly believe that fat fuck is the president elect. I have moments where I'm delighted at the confusion and how unprepared his transition team is *sigh* and it burns my ass that I have to hope he has success. I just fucking hate having to wish him well in any capacity.

The better man won, it could be worse Ben Carson could have won. I liked him at first but now realize he is the guy that figured out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Way to smart to be president.

This is interesting.
Mitt Romney, probably the most ardent and vocal never-Trump Republican, congratulated Trump on his victory several days ago. Now, it's being reported that Mitt Romney is interested and being considered for Secretary of State. I actually think Romney has the right balance of toughness and diplomacy to make a good candidate, on the surface (way better than Giuliani or Gingrich, and probably much more likely to be approved by the Senate than Giuliani). Retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn is reportedly Trump's choice of National Security Adviser. That bothers me; he's full of shit and another vindictive frother like Giuliani, in my opinion. I've watched the man scream flat out lies to the American people during the campaign. And, I considered it bottom-of-the-barrel character-wise when he tweeted out to his millions of followers a blatantly false story about Hillary Clinton and pedophilia (published by one of the many obviously fake newz websites) shortly before election day. Flynn has been strategizing with Russia and appearing on Russia's state tv for some time. But, Flynn (who disagreed sharply with President Obama) was one of the first on board with Trump and they're reportedly tight now. So, it's looking like this purveyor of misinformation (a trait he shares with Trump) will be officially advising our President about our nation's security. I think Trump probably would have nominated Flynn for Sec of Defense, but there's no way in hell Flynn could pass Senate confirmation for a cabinet position, thankfully. |
