If the republicans don't vote for impeachment, they're implicitly saying that Trump's behavior is acceptable. So let's see how everyone feels if/when a democrat tries to pull the same shit.

The whistle-blower's identity should be protected for obvious reasons, but that isn't always the way it turns out, unfortunately.
Anyway, the identity and motive of the whistle-blower doesn't matter to me in any potential corruption or criminal case involving the government or private corporation.
What matters to me is that his/her claims are investigated thoroughly and either verified or debunked. And, if there in evidence that an abuse of power or crime occurred, appropriate action be taken.
The House investigation and official witness testimonies to-date corroborate this whistle-blower's complaint that President Trump -- using his old buddy and (non-elected, non-appointed) personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani as a conduit -- held up U.S. foreign aid to Ukraine because Trump wanted a personal/political favor from the newly-elected Ukrainian President in exchange.

The transcripts of the hearings show that U.S. officials Volker, Sondland, Taylor, Yovanovitch, Mulvaney...... have all corroborated claims that there was a quid-pro-quo involving nearly $400 million in committed military aid to Ukraine and a Trump-Zelensky meeting at the White House.
The financial aid and White House meeting were officially approved by U.S. officials and were viewed as crucial to our ally Ukraine after the inauguration of a new president and amid continued malign influence from Russia in Ukraine.
However, according to the whistle-blower and the corroborating witness testimony, Trump and Giuliani were holding them up in attempt to get the new Ukranian President (Zlensky) to publicly announce and undertake an investigation into Trump's political foe Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

The whistleblower could be Lindsey Graham and the Trumplicans would all start screaming that he was deep state and helped Hillary rape and kill children in the basement of a pizza parlor. Facts don't matter.

Anyone can see this is another attempt at taking Trump down for something that has been done by all presidents since the beginning of the United States.

Actually, they have a great deal, certainly enough to warrant an impeachment inquiry. He tried to get Boss Hogg, his AG, to publicly say trump's conversation with the Ukraine president was perfect and no big deal. Boss Hogg refused.

I've never heard of another president resorting to extortion for his own personal gain. Who else has done so?

What personal gain? trying to figure out how the entire Russian collusion thing started? Asking about Bidens sons corruption? Trump taking over the world and imperiling every American and our way of life? Sweating and eating 2 scoops of ice cream?

While it's clear to me that a lot of people will be downright giddy if the evidence shows that an unconstitutional quid-pro-quo by Trump is proven.....no Mags, not anyone can see that this is some unfounded attempt to take Trump down for things done by all Presidents.
That's what you and other Trump devotees contend because that's what you want to see.
Just like you wanted to see and kept claiming that Robert Mueller was a corrupt and biased political operative out to indict the President at all costs, despite Mueller's established credentials and even as I kept asking you if you'd feel the same should Mueller not indict Trump due to lack of evidence.
I'm gonna look at the facts, wait to hear all the evidence, and toss aside the propaganda/ "everybody does it" excuses/ and attempts to malign credible witnesses in this House investigation just like I did in that DOJ investigation.

Sorry Mags. I just that noticed that you added some red-font comments to my original post. Your comments are inaccurate.
The transcripts of testimony by those I listed (with the exception of Mulvaney) does indeed show that they understood that Trump and Giuliani were tying the Ukraine aid to their push for a publicly-announced Ukranian investigation into Biden.
As for Mulvaney, he acknowledged at a conference (which has been transcribed) that the release of Ukraine aid was tied to a request to investigate the handling of a Democratic National Committee server hacked in the 2016 election.
The commitments to Ukraine had already been approved by Congress in the federal budget for 2019 months earlier. They were meant to bolster Ukraine's defense against the Russian aggression which has been ongoing since 2014.
The Trump administration initially told Congress it was releasing the aid to Ukraine in February. It repeated that assertion to Congress again in May. However, it was still not released when Trump participated in the phone call with Zlensky on July 5th and Trump reportedly asked for the Biden investigation favor in exchange.
The aid wasn't released until September. I'm sure the explanation for that delay is part of the ongoing investigation. I'm interested in hearing from those directly involved.
I think there's quite an obvious benefit to Trump to have scandalous Biden headlines in the news during the 2020 presidential campaign, but I guess you don't see how that would be a political and personal advantage to Trump and that's fine.
I don't know what you're referring to in your 'that never happened' comment. However, my comment was accurate. The transcript for E.U. Ambassador Gordon Sondland's testimony was released Tuesday. In it, he told House Reps that Rudy Giuliani pushed the Ukranian President to publicly say he was investigating Hunter Biden's company in order to get the White House visit.

How many times will the left go to the well to try and oust Trump? Over and over they have tried only to be stopped. This is another example. As of right now its all about "we got him now" but I would think that the left would have gotten a little wary of these things. it's not an impeachable offense. But go ahead and continue but for my peace of mind I don't think any of this will amount to a "hill of beans".

As many times as it is called for. He's a fucked up president doing fucked up things and the only reason you don't have a problem with any of his fuckedupness is because he's the leader of your party. There is not a doubt in my mind that if the shoe were on the other foot you would be calling for the same damn thing. You are blind to his fuckedupness. Replace trump's name with Obama and get back to me.
