I just got an e-mail from the principle of my sons school. Usually its about him eating hot lunch and not paying it or something, but I guess he won the school art contest for grades 4-5 and his award was 9 weeks of art instruction at the museum in town on the basics of drawing. He drew a Peacock that has eyes like one of those Jesus things with eyes that follow you. Anyways they told me early so he could start this coming Monday and they were holding an assembly this Friday to award him it a 400.00 class. He has no clue right now but I thought it was fast award Friday start class Monday he's 11 yr old and a bundle of energy. I'm very proud right now and never thought I could ever be glad to be alive as I am now. Should I tell him? I've already told the professor and she's tickled pink.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

I would tell him. Even though he obviously has talent does he actually like art, do you think he'd enjoy the classes or be bored with it?

So he did well and is now being punished by having to do 9 weeks of art at a museum. Break it to him gently.

Tell him. He has a right to know that his future will be tattooing peacocks on pea sized cocks.

Yes. I'm not so old that I've forgotten what it's like to be 11. He's not exactly a little kid anymore, he's on the cusp of being a young man. He deserves to know. You asked!

Yes tell him, you don't want to be surprised if he surprisingly to you would not be happy taking that class! And then he winds up acting up in that class!
Most likely he will like it, but you just never really can tell, so be safe.
BTW, congrats, maybe you have a Van Gogh on your hands!

Not that it's any of my business but have you had a psychiatric evaluation in oh, the last 5 years? Or a blood transfusion?
