THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY
Trump lost his biggest contributor, the Mercer family.  It's money like this that helped Trump get elected in 2016.

The numbers tell the story. In 2016, Robert Mercer, the former co-CEO of hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, and his wife, Diana, donated $15.5 million to a variety of different organizations to help elect Trump, and they put up another $1 million for the inaugural committee. They also provided substantial support to Breitbart, which at times seemed to function as an extra arm of the Trump campaign. The Washington Post reported they spent more than $49 million on political activities in 2016 and that year’s election cycle. “The Mercers laid the groundwork for the Trump revolution,” Steve Bannon said in 2017. In addition to the millions the Mercers pumped into Trump’s election, they spent $10 million on Breitbart News and millions more on Cambridge Analytica, the data firm cofounded by Robert Mercer in 2013.

Why the Mercers bailed on Trump

It was good to see that Republican and Democrat senators voted in favor of rebuking the Trump Administration's proposal to sell 'emergency' arms to Saudi Arabia today, though Trump is expected to bi-pass Congress and veto the votes.

The vote highlights ongoing tension between Trump and members of his own party over how much power Congress should cede to the executive branch when it comes to foreign policy.   There's also a push to try to prevent the Trump Administration from taking military action against Iran without Congressional approval.

Today's vote illustrates bipartisan anger with Saudi Arabia over the murder of journalist Kamal Khashoggi, as well as disapproval of the United States' ongoing support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen's civil war.

Despite passing the resolutions, the senators did not receive the two-thirds vote threshold needed to overcome an expected White House veto.

Thursday’s vote was not the first time Senate Republicans have voted with Democrats to rebuff Trump on Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, seven Republicans joined Senate Democrats to pass a resolution to withdraw U.S. support for the Saudi-backed war in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and Iran really despise each other. If there was ever a proxy war they would be the likely candidates.

The wishy washy president nitwit called for strikes and then pulled back. I'm glad he did and I hope the clusterfuck can be contained to the Oval Office rather than spread worldwide. Shooting down a drone is not a reason to go to war.

Bolton and Pompeo both have hardons for bombing Iran. I'm glad Trump changed his mind but those two are going to keep pushing.

I would like to see an impeachment inquiry to begin...

...and I want Mueller to be subpoenaed. I think that should have been done weeks ago. If Democrats think republicans would have waited like they have, they are out of their minds.

Impeachment for what?

I kind of understood why Pelosi held back, she wanted an ironclad case. But waiting this long is just making her look weak and something needs to be done now.
