This is just my opinion, no, I don't think so. High profile defense attorneys command high fees and this guy doesn't appear to have that kind of money and I don't see one doing it pro bono.

Thanks for your opinion. It just crossed my mind and I figured I'd see what others thought. I honestly have no clue. I hope the pervy bastard just takes a plea and spares her the added trama of having to face his sorry ass in court.

Ex-Tennessee teacher Tad Cummins planned to take his 15-year-old former student Elizabeth Thomas to Mexico before venturing to other countries, and may have had the means to do it, according to new court documents.

Anthony Thomas is filing for a restraining order against the mother and is also filing for divorce.

Elizabeth Thomas' brother James spoke to Channel 4 about how things have been going since his sister returned home.

"I was like, this is my little sister. She's back. She's going to be OK," James Thomas said.

James Thomas and his sister have a secret handshake. After not seeing each other for 38 worrisome days, he said that's what broke the ice.

"I just started it, and when she was done, she just kind of aggressively smiled at me and was like, 'aww,' and she was happy. It was genuine," James Thomas said.

Tad Cummins will remain in custody after he was arraigned in federal court in Sacramento, CA, on Monday afternoon.

Cummins appeared before Judge Kendal Newman, who explained the charge he faces carries a minimum of 10 years to life in prison.

In a six-minute hearing, Cummins had the option to enter a guilty plea, but that was not his wish.

Cummins will remain in custody until he stands trial in Middle Tennessee. The judge said he will be returned as quickly as possible

Restraining order granted

http://wkrn.com/2017/04/24/restraining-o...th-thomas/

The same day Tad Cummins appeared in a California courtroom for the first time, the father of Elizabeth Thomas filed a restraining order against her mother, his wife, on Monday.

A Maury County judge granted the order, finding “there exists an immediate and irreparable harm and that good cause exists” behind it.

The order prohibits Kimberly Thomas from having any contact with Anthony Thomas or their four minor children, including Elizabeth.

Kimberly Thomas is also barred from coming to their home, the children’s schools, or any place the family is reasonably likely to be.

There's an article in PEOPLE magazine about this case.

The attorney for Elizabeth Thomas states that she lost a considerable amount of weight during the weeks she was hiding out with Cummins and that the two ate wildflowers while they were at a clothes-optional commune in Berkeley (they got kicked out for being lazy after a few days).

[Image: 3F9FDDE300000578-4455950-The_northern_Ca...448754.jpg]

They were found in a remote cabin in Northern California ^. There was no electricity, heat, or running water in the cabin. Her attorney, Whatley, says Elizabeth had not showered in weeks when she was recovered and asked to take a shower immediately.

He also says that Elizabeth is very fragile as a result of the ordeal and that Cummins was grooming and manipulating Elizabeth for months leading up to their going on the run.

Documents filed in federal court on Monday morning ahead of his first hearing claim he admitted to switching license plates on his car several times and disabling its GPS system to avoid being caught. He paid for essentials, including chocolate for the teenager, with cash and only took back roads to avoid roadside surveillance, they claim.

'In furtherance of this plan, the defendant procured a small watercraft and conducted a test run to cross into Mexico across the water from San Diego.

Sounds like a lot of premeditation to me. Cummins is going down (I hope).

Cummins is being held without any release terms because he is considered a flight risk. He will return to Tennessee to face charges.

Meanwhile, Cummins' wife did an interview with Inside Edition which is set to air on Monday.

Mrs. Cummins is divorcing her husband. She claims he's been calling her and telling her he loves her and he's sorry. But, she won't say it back or take him back.

Mrs. Cummins says she wants him to understand what he did to her, their adult daughters, and their grandchildren. Good luck with that -- if he wasn't a completely selfish prick, he wouldn't have done what he did in the first place.

Court records of Kimberlys accused child abuse

http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/cri...100951338/

Bloody beatings, forced nudity and confinement to a basement. These are a few of the violent and humiliating conditions detailed in court documents where Kimberly Thomas is accused of child abuse and neglect.

If I was Jill, I wouldn't even be answering his damn phone calls. That's how you make a point. Not just, I'm not taking him back or telling him I love him. Come on lady!

Tad cumming extradition process is now under way. I hope these Tennessee boys eat him up in the prison. Ha!

Former Maury County teacher Tad Cummins is no longer being held at a California jail.

For security reasons, authorities won't give out his exact location, but he will ultimately be heading to federal court in Nashville to fight allegations that he kidnapped a 15-year-old girl from Columbia, TN.

Unrelated to this case but Trinity was another missing Tn teen. Check this story out. Damn shame!

http://www.wsmv.com/story/35337125/teen-...er-suspect

The teen arrested and charged in the murder of gas station clerk John Stevens could spend the rest of her life behind bars.

Channel 4's legal analyst Jim Todd said the next few weeks will be critical for 15-year-old Trinity Quinn.

Quinn went from being an Amber Alert victim to a murder suspect in just a matter of hours.

"Both individuals are under investigation for homicide. Both are homicide suspects," said Metro police spokesman Don Aaron.

Police say Quinn was not kidnapped, that she went willingly with family friend, 28-year-old Daniel Clark.

The note 50-year-old Tad Cummins left for his wife is weird and incriminating. He was asking for forgiveness before he even took off with Elizabeth Thomas.

[Image: 4041013200000578-0-image-a-9_1494634208402.jpg]

He's locked up and could face a life sentence for kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Elizabeth is reportedly in forced rehab because she claims she loves Cummins, she's old enough to date who she wants, and she had the time of her life while the two were on the run. According to the reports, authorities consider her brainwashed.

I hope Elizabeth's dad is doing alright, Js.
