Getting scary ?...It's been scary for a long timefor many people, I'm so grateful a loss of our jobs or our home isn't an issue but, it is for so many...I really cannot imagine the horror of that...I don't think I've seen anything like this in my lifetime.

Surely you remember Jimmy Carter's reign?

I sure do and it was worse than what we are going through right now. I'm well schooled in living with a whole lot less than I am used to because of those years.

What will keep us in business is the rising crime rate due to unemployment and governmental program cut-backs. We are in the alarm and home security business and jobs are not lacking right now.

I don't relish the outcome over the next four years but I am lucky that the part of the country I live in usually fares better than the rest in these types of economies.

Either way it sucks for everyone all around.

I find it amusing that Obama is getting so much flak for this.
Its like the guy who started the fire (Bush) is getting off scott free while the guy trying to put out the fire (Obama) is getting blamed for there being any fire in the first place.

When Jimmy Carter was Prez I was just a kid... I was a very self involved young person and as long asI had what I wanted I'm not so sure I would have even noticed others around me...Maybe I shoulda said, as an adult spending my own money I've never seen it like this.

I hate when the ignorant make me defend Bush but here I go....

This did NOT start with the Bush administration but he did not do much to prevent it.

This started with the Clinton administration where he deregulated and softened the criteria for lending. He put that shit Barney Frank in charge of the banking system and he proceeded to fuck it up completely.

Bush kept Frank in charge of this... problem #1.

Bush also was too freakin' nice on too many levels. He was stupid in areas where he should have put his foot down but instead he wanted to show how 'bi-partisan' he was and kept a good deal of Clinton's people in office instead of cleaning house like Obama did.

Unfortunately Obama thinks spending trillions of dollars on something that isn't working when Bush spent billions in the first place. The banks are NOT doing what they were supposed to do with the money long before Obama took office and he thinks that throwing more money at them after they wasted what was already given to them would help.

You can't spend your way out of this. I hope it works but I sincerely doubt it will. Who's going to pay this all back? How is Obama going to fund the things he wants? He has not yet said how on any of his spending plans.

Hmmmm......horseshit.

Having a retard running your country for 8 years is exactly why you are in the situation you are in. A retard that you no doubt voted for......twice.

Now that truly is ignorance of a world class level.

Voting for a man like Bush twice? now that my dear truly is ignorance on a world class level.

Oh right, I forgot you are the expert in American politics and how our country is run.

I never said nor will I ever mention who I vote for. That is my business. Do not assume because you dont' like our president and are ignorant on how we run our country that I vote how you imagine.

I am not worried about my job. We are busier than ever. No matter how bad the economy is, people can't seem to drive without crashing into someone else.

Fuckit let the banks fold, let States fend for themselves, let the world go bankrupt. No fuckin bailout, let competitive powers rise. If one bank fails another will take it's place, if one business fails the competition will enjoy new customers. Suffer the pain now. Do not drag it out. The only thing this government loan to private business will do is prolong the inevitable. And will saddle future generations with a huge debt. Let free market adjust itself. If Walmart went belly up tomorrow people will still buy. It is sloppy business practice that has done this. Let AIG fend for themselves. Better yet run them out on a rail, competition will swallow them up.

I agree, let everyone suffer now instead of putting a band aid on it by creating money out of thin air.

Its not ANY president's fault. There is a cycle of gain and loss, boom and depression. It happens. We get over it... some people get it really bad, while others only see it from a distance. Its not all because of bad mortgage lending. We are a people made of greed "the american dream"

Walmart (and its ilk) going belly up is probably the BEST thing that could happen for our economy. De-centralize the corporate monopolies on small business, get the money back into the hands of the people. It would work wonders for us all.

I'm sort of lucky to be in a niche which, if anything, probably does even better in a bear economy. People are far more likely to have their computer 'fixed' in these times, than buy a new one. Of course, I also sell computers, but that's really a very small part of my income.
