Do you remember your first?
The only thing I did with a computer for years was work & research random bullshit I was interested in. I heard about forums but I wondered why anyone would want to hangout and talk with people they didn't know. I thought that concept was one of the dumbest things ever but nonetheless I checked it out and was bored silly. I wandered cyberspace and discovered a link for Mock someone had posted and finally I understood the appeal.
Mock is the first place anyone had ever called me a cunt. I was shocked! My reaction still makes me laugh today.

I started out in chatrooms for Babylon 5, Pokémon,Nikita, etc. Always acting like an asshole troll, never quite succeeding because I didn't take it as far as these master trolls and deep down I cared too much for people but was afraid to show it. I was a lame troll and a joke, but I craved the attention even though it was negative. This continued through my first forum Warhammer 40k, then LONAF, Armour Penetration, Trollkingdom, Spin Flippery, Dork Lord's board, and then finally Mock. Mock is the first forum where I feel connected to people and feel free to share the real me. I mean sure it initially happened because Ma Huang Sor/jack outed my crossdressing habits. But in the end the results were mostly positive. And I'm starting to open up more at the newly revised Trollkingdom.....
Long story short, Mock is my first real home forum. Sure I'm still a bit lame, boring, and unfunny, but I've grown so much in my forum life...I'm home....I care about you all...I love you guys and girls....*GROUP HUG*

I did not think "on line" chatting was for me, so I didn't do it.
However, I was getting close to retirement back then, (it snuck up on me out of no where) and I was going banana's thinking about it! Working was all I ever knew as a life, and it was my life.
I provided well for my family, and we did alright.
Now, the life as I knew it was coming to an end, and I was worried sick about it all. Retirement scared the hell out of me.
Well my wife told me, (wise woman) why not see if I could find out somewhere on line to talk to people who already retired and how they handled it.
So somehow as fate would have it, I looked on line, and stumbled on to my first forum, "Forum Garden".
The majority of the people back then on FG were so helpful and friendly, and made me feel at home there. The retired people on there gave me their perspective on being retired, and how they handled it. I discussed all the things that were worrying me, and one by one each thing was addressed by several of the retiree's. After a while they convinced me that "there would be life" after retirement. So now I didn't feel so scared about retiring.
So when retirement day finally came, I was able to cope with it, and not panic.
After being retired for a whole two weeks, they were right, I felt amazing, relaxed, happy, and wondered how the hell could I have ever liked working! Go Figure. Ain't life grand!

I did that when I first got high speed internet. I had dial-up for years out here in the country. I suffered.

Remember when dial-up meant you had to had to start downloading an image of boobies today if you wanted it to be finished in time to masturbate next Thursday?
No? Uhh... me neither

I remember when everyone used their phone lines for internet and you could never get a hold of anyone.

My first forum was a message board owned by and made for comics industry professionals both big and indy-sized, where they could interact with each other and fans on an adult level without having to constantly answer whether Hulk could beat Superman or if Plasticman could elongate his penis. For a brief moment some of the biggest names in 90's era comics were regular members. Erik Larsen, Rob Leifeld, bunch of others from Marvel, DC, Image and others. Unfortunately the trolls invaded and some fans began to target the pros, driving them off the boards until it was a wasteland of idiots. That's where I originally knew Jack and Cory.
