White evangelicals are some of the shittiest people on God's green earth. They are the dregs of society much in the same way a black crackhead in the city who robs people for drugs is. They are counterfeit Christians and they all can suck it.

In point of fact there is scant outside (non-biblical)evidence to support the existence of the man, but I've already provided helpful links to the most credible. For the purpose of this thread I am starting with the assumption there was a real Jesus, a matter that is clearly under some question, in order to prove my original statement elsewhere: that RELIGION was devised as a way to control large populations, promote civil obedience and secure the power of a few elites, generally monarchy or papal authority, and that corollary data can be found in essentially every organized religion since the dawn of civilization..
Quote:Clearly to Jews he wasn't/isn't as well as Muslims, Hindu and every other religion on earth that isn't Christianity. As far as the wealth and control aspects of Dono's theory, I'd have to say that there are people out there who fit Dono's theory so perfectly that they may have well consulted Dono in making the mold. On the other hand, there are surely people out there who are the exact opposite and truly believe they are answering the call of the lord to lead their flock. I think there are people in this world that have a need to believe just the same way there are people who don't. If I were to say that Noah's Ark was actually the best way primitive man could describe aliens extracting DNA to preserve animals and humans prior to a predictable catastrophe, some would say it's logical while others would deem me blasphemous, but does anyone truly believe in their heart that some dude made a boat and filled it with all of the earths species 2 by 2? I think you might need your head examined by a professional if you do.
My hypothesis concerns the origins of religion, not individuals within it today. There are good and kind and selfless people of influence in all walks of life, many of whom gain tremendous influence and become great leaders, and some of whom claim God as their inspiration. This thread has nothing to do with those people, who actually unwittingly serve to reinforce the structure of control for the religion itself by becoming "shining examples" of the best a religion can be, while the opposite end of the spectrum: the criminals and pedophiles etc--Are kept quiet and covered over. My "theory" is simply historical data and verifiable fact. I make no judgments and I am fully aware that I am describing the sun to Plato's cave dwellers.

I don't know. I think he might rather take me to the club.........or take the club to me, I mean.
I can take it though...........so long as he doesn't expect me to give him head; it's literally a boar.

There may come a time when people will question whether Moses or Abraham was real, or Buddha. It does not mean they didn't, I believe Donovan has every right to preach Atheism as much as Billy Graham preached Christianity. Neither one has verifiable reliable proof but they both have faith in their beliefs.

I'm not an atheist. I'm a pragmatist and a student. To declare definitively for one belief or another would presuppose I had gathered all the data and of course that hasn't happened. However, empirical evidence supports the absence of a guiding and omnipresent but extremely volatile and judgmental deity with a fluid sense of morality. Simply put: the idea behind an all seeing, all knowing God whose only purpose in existence is to monitor my every move and also makes sure my sports team wins and nobody I like dies from cancer...is ludicrous.

(Okay. This is a serious thread, so I'm gonna stop messing around in here now.) You aren't the cave dweller, or the shadow, or even the glaring sun. You are the stunning beautiful reality I cannot adequately describe with these poor words.

I think she was implying your dong was the cave dweller and she could handle the pounding.
Stick to disproving the existence of God... HotD is out of your league (love that Fitz and the Tantrums song).

I'm sorry that you just don't "get it" I see it every time the sun comes up and every time the moon goes down. It just "is" in my view. Call me a cave man if you will but even cave men could see it.

He didn't say disproving the existence of a God, he said Jesus. You know, the creepy guy on the cross that you freaks gather around every Sunday with a bunch of other freaks like something out of a horror movie. Doing all your stupid rituals and drinking his blood and shit. Yeah, that's real normal. But you will be blessed.

I knew from the age of five for Christ's sake that the holy rollers were out of their goddamned minds. My grandpa was a Methodist pastor and when I'd stay over I would of course have to go to church with them, all I could think to myself is WTF.
There could be a higher power, I don't know. I'm not trying to disprove it, but I know it ain't that one. I can't even force myself to believe in such fucking nonsense for the sake of peace of mind.

Actually I'm so against organized religion that I've never allowed my kids to go to church. They've had friends that wanted to take them there and I wouldn't let them go. I felt that's something to choose when you're an adult. This antichrist has nothing on that evil shit.

My mom has always been very edgy and rebellious. She went to Catholic school and was constantly in trouble. She hated all the rules and restrictions and rulers to the knuckles.
So, we only went to church a couple of times when I was little and that was only when there was some reason related to extended family. I studied world religions just out of curiosity; fascinating stuff.
The weird thing is that as much as my mom revels in 'sinful' activities to this day, she also holds really conservative views that tie back to the religion she rebelled against.
She always tries to get my agnostic nephew to embrace Jesus and God. He's not budging and loves to troll her about it (he's a really smart smart-ass); it's pretty amusing to witness. The more she gets riled up and insists that he needs to believe in her God, the more he laughs. They always end up hugging and ready to have the same damn debate the next time they see each other.

I wouldn't care if people wanted to worship stumps. The only thing that bugs me is when the stump worshipers say their stump is the best stump, the only stump. I don't like that and I don't like it when I see them pretending to love their stump only when it benefits them and don't use your stump to get someone's tree. People should stick to worshiping their stump and be okay if their neighbor wants to worship a bush.
