Crazy Smoking Ban . . . . . . .
#1
. . . . . . . . . . . .   Was just passed in Long Branch NJ for NO SMOKING ON THE BEACH! How crazy is that?

I'm not a smoker, never was, but I think people are getting out of hand with outdoor No Smoking restrictions!

Smokers will be confined to a very small section of the beach to smoke. Any smoker caught lighting up anywhere other than that section, will be fined "$250" for the first offense! Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

What say you, should smoking be banned on beaches?

Smoking on the beach is like shitting on the beach. A person has no right to pollute in someone else's space. It has been proven there are health risks associated with second hand smoke.

It's ridiculous. I don't think people should be allowed to wear perfume or cologne in public in that case, that's even more offensive if you ask me.

The chances of someone catching second hand smoke on the beach is about as much as them turning queer because they set up a beach chair next to your gay ass.

If it proves to be a health risk to others, I would agree. But until then, we all still have the right to express ourselves in dress, smell, and speech even if it is offensive to others.

My ass has been known to turn heads. Never has it been known to flip a hetero dude.  Sally may be blowing smoke up my ass. And anybody who sat a beach chair next to mine would most likely be gay already. You may have the power to turn a straight guy gay, but I don't.

No, it shouldn't be banned on the beaches. Or the parks. The summer concerts I've gone to at the city parks this summer have been declared "curb to curb no smoking".

It's blowing in the open air. It's not affecting anyone, it's not like smoking in a restaurant or enclosed space. There are way worse chemicals polluting the air. I would think that someone who didn't have any rights not so long ago wouldn't be for imposing laws against something that isn't even affecting them. Meh, people have nothing better to do I guess.

I does affect me. I have lived in my Florida Condo for 31 years and was subjected to my neighbors chain smoking so much that I  had to keep my windows closed. 5 Years ago they both died from emphysema and I was so relieved to be able to open my place up and enjoy the fresh air. After a year passed their children inherited their place and they also chain smoke. I am back to keeping my windows closed. I don't expect someone who smokes, such as yourself,  to understand how offensive it is to continually be subjected to second hand smoke. There are provisions on the Long Branch Beach for smokers. There is a "Smoking Area" for them. It isn't banned, it's just limited to an area away from those who want to breathe clean air.

I understand how offensive it is, I wouldn't want to be neighbors with a chain smoker or sitting in a restaurant with someone blowing smoke next to me. But that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about smoking on the beach with the wind blowing. We pollute the air and oceans with so many other things, it just seems like our priorities are in the wrong place when we're now fining people $250 for blowing smoke up in the open wind. But hey, maybe they will put that money towards cleaning the environment.

I think smoking on the beach is annoying, not because of health reasons, but I want to smell the ocean air, not cigarette smoke. I had a friend that would smoke on hikes! Crazy!

Also, don't even ask me about smoking right now, my town is dealing with at least 2 fires most likely caused by a cigarette being tossed out the window. Stupid mother fuckers.

I can't believe anyone is smoking anymore anyway, I figured everyone is vaping nowadays.

You must have a very sensitive nose to be able to smell smoke at the wide open breezy beach!

I agree that it's annoying to live in an apartment building or condo next to a chain smoker, or be sitting at a park and someone sit next to you on the bench and start blowing it in your face. But when people start making up lies that they can smell it on the beach and it's a nuisance it's just that they have nothing better to do with their lives than be vindictive little pricks. Those are the people that walk by the smoking sections and pretend to cough. Fucking jerks.

.

I used to work with a woman who wore so much (very strong) perfume you could smell her coming down the hall at least 10 to 15 feet away!

If she stood in one spot for a few minutes, I used to joke she would leave a puddle!
hah

Didn't that happen to you at Disney?

Yes and I've seen it happen to other people too. I saw one lady start a fist fight over it, she was the one not smoking. Really, you're going to pick a fight with some 60 year old smoking a cigarette. Die already

Nothing bugs me more than people going out of their way to fuck with other people. You should burn in hell And make no mistake about it, you will.

What the fuck is your problem, you asshole Sally? Get the fuck off seriously.

I have been outdoors, by a lake, by the ocean, in the mountains, anywhere, and someone is smoking and it is annoying becasue I want to smell the fresh air. If I am in the city I almost expect to smell the smoke but not in nature.
But alas, I used to be one of those smokers so there you go.

And I am not one of those people who cough next to smokers, for fuck sake. If anything sometimes I purposely smell it if I am standing next to someone smoking. But I have been places where you are just enjoying the breeze, the air and all the sudden you can smell the smoke.
