You wouldn't at least not for a year or so when they start trickling into your street. It doesn't happen fast enough to be as noticeable as the weather, America is in an Amazon instant gratification phase. You cannot see ahead as well as previous generations. Mainly because of the fast food get it now mindset. Don't worry I say it to every kid with big eyes. Like my own.

The man trump picked to run ICE says he can tell which migrant kids will become gang members by looking into their eyes.
Yup. Really.

Useful skill for his role.
Reminds me a little of being "able to smell Trump supporters".

The Department of Homeland Security emailed their cybersecurity agency asking them to set aside their day jobs and deploy to the US Mexican border because they can't recruit enough people willing to go. They aren't soldiers, they are IT people. Whatta shit show.

Not a crisis at the border though. No need for a wall.

What I meant by my reply is this: What I see is those that are willing to help immigrants also have posts where they talk about helping others also. I don't see this ignoring of those around them to run to the border to help them only.
Also, I had to look up "charity starts at home" just to make sure I was understanding where you were coming from. But this is what I found:
When people say 'Charity begins at home' they very often mean 'You should look after your own kids, family and own circle first and then be kind to people' which is not the original meaning of the proverb. The original meaning is that charity begins in the home - that is to say kids learn charity in the home."
For me it is not about helping only one person or one group of people. Alanis Morisette's words in her song "Citizen of the Planet" speak to my heart about being a citizen of the planet and caring for all human kind. I cannot seperate out my heart to only care for one section of the world, or one section of people. I care for the planet, the world, the earth.

MirahM, people who don't care about other peoples humanity, social status and human rights very rarely change. Unless they have a 'road to Damascus' experience they won't change. Don't engage anyone like that. Don't waste your energy. These people love the sound of their own voice and can be like psychic vampires who waste your energy

Actually, speaking of misreading, the kind of pragmatic Political views of someone like Maggot is the views of a responsible adult. The kind of view that says that they owe a responsibility to THEIR children firstly and primarily before any other children. They will look after their children best they can and not other children. They are NOT responsible for other children nor do they have responsibility. However, IF they are decent people lucky enough to have a bit left over, they MAY CHOOSE to give charity to other children
The opposing view is that no child has more value to a parent than another child and the all your resources and time and efforts ought to be equally divided into the community children.
Of course this metaphor around parenting and Governing one's country should not have to be spelled out as being metaphorical but, there, I have done it now,

Good news, everyone! US Customs & Border Protections has successfully completed 1.7 miles of fencing that Congress appropriated $1.57 billion for last year.

Yes this is a partisan Media talking point.
Now 1.7 miles doesn't cost $1.57 billion buck it will come out of those funds and there is more construction to come out of those funds.
So ......... what exactly is your point?

I have. More than once. Flint still doesn't have clean water. People are dying because of the cost of prescription drugs, etc. The list is long and varied.

Yes if you don't spend money on a wall then you will have extra money.....that you will then use on welfare for the hordes that come into the US illegally BECAUSE you didn't build walls because you wanted to save money for Flint......that you still will not spend because of the reallocation of funds to cope with increased illegals welfare.

Well a few miles of the wall was built this weekend. Land was bought and 2-3 miles of the most traversed open sections were eliminated. Baby steps. But steps in the right direction. It may gain momentum. I think it will.

Are you talking about this? You can thank Steve Bannon and a gofundme account for the *mile* of wall connecting two larger segments that inexplicably had a break between them.

Baby steps, as Maggot says. Next term you will be saying "There is still 50% not done" then "They still have quarter of the border undone, they have had years to do it" then "There are still miles of border that people can come through" then "Well it is finally built and it is awful"
Same ideology, expected narrative spin and ultimately bullshit

Plenty cheaper than any "government job" that's for sure. The people of El Paso are glad. Unlike the way the media is saying. according to them the people are mad at not giving the illegals a chance. or getting government subsidy's for the illegals.
These towns get money for putting them up, now I can understand the plight of the illegals and the plight of the greedy. Nobody really gives a fuck about anyone else but themselves. Unless you're a social warrior from behind a desk in New York working for the Huffington post. Or some Senator.
