Dont you chaps ever listen to opera or classical music? Pop is based on that. As an intro, try Sissel singing O mio Babbino Caro on you tube. There are two videos, the best has over a million looks.
Even now that brings a tear. Give it a chance, you will get it, and you wont have heard the like before. Its opera. And your American, the two have never met.

My new and drastically upgraded love life includes a genuine deadhead who is deep into going to concerts. So far this year we saw the Who, Plant/Krauss, Dead and Company with John Mayer, Billy Strings, Max Creek (that one was at Levon Helms' Barn in Woodstock.
I am living a damn good fucking life right now, just thought I'd share. But meanwhile, even though I somehow missed the Grateful Dead train when it was a thing, I am very much learning to appreciate their deeper stuff. They really were a really good band. Go figure...
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.
