He was the only doctor there and it was either do it or die. I never heard of it but can only imagine what he was going through.

I was moved to read about him and while doing so discovered that NASA recommends that astronauts have a number of non-essential body parts such as appendix and wisdom teeth removed before heading into space.

They tried to give me a tubal ligation while wide awake using the epidural I had after having my son. The fucking epidural didn't take and I told them I can feel every fucking thing, don't you dare go cutting on me. Anyway, if it did take then they could have did it while I was awake. I imagine if you can numb yourself well enough and are a doctor who knows what you're doing, it wouldn't be that hard as long as you have your head in the game.
