I had that same thought.

What was the motive? Was he a drug head?

Reminds me of the DuPont Family. Inbreeding never turns out well.

It's said he was a drug head, yup, and it was also said the motive was an effort to cover up his financial crimes of which there are many. He lied and lied & lied some more and when caught, he confessed, but said I'm telling the truth now about the night of the murders.  78

How the hell do you look your kid in the eye and then proceed to blow his brains out. How? I can't fathom it.

I just watched his sentencing. He's in a prison jumpsuit & shackles and has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. He's on his way. Good riddance. The judge called him a monster. His oldest son & brother are sitting a couple rows behind him, his son is wiping away tears and his brother is emotionless, the same brother who cleaned up his nephew's brains.

Swift . . . as it should be!

*sighs*  Now  . . . the appeals.

(Hoping his cell has the same type of sheets, as Epstein's)

Years of alone-time without the luxury of manipulating others to do your bidding would be more punishing, in my estimation.

I have been following this family since the boat crash. Over a hundred years of corruption. Over 40 years of drug dealing. AM is going to do just fine in prision because he is going to be the *good guy* helping immates with legal issues. While I think AM killed his family, I don't feel he did it alone. He is a bigger thief and hurt more people by financial means. There is not going to be any justice for Steven Smith or Gloria Satterfield.

Ooohhhh you've got all their dirty laundry then! As the trial was nearing the end I regretted that we weren't following it in detail in Mock. I am not good about doing that at all so when you see stories like this feel free to post 'em up! I saw the occasional headlines and I watched a tiny bit at the end and I did see the sentencing, but that's about it. I should have done more after Mirah first posted this thread. A hundred years of corruption must mean this family is infamous there.

I started my Murdaugh obsession because of the insurance fraud. Working in insurance, I know how dirty these personal injury lawyers are but then you add a massive liability pay out (Gloria Satterfield) and then AM stealing 95% of settlements from not just GS but with many others.... When Paul had the boat accident they only had a boat policy with only $500K liability. I spoke with our sells rep for this company (this happened in SC and I am in NC) and she said that money ran out very quickly. Mandy Matney does the best podcast and Eric Amen does the best youtube.

Will you be following what's going on with the Stephen Smith case now that his death has been ruled a homicide? I'm interested in reading your opinion about this.

Absolutely watching for Stephen Smith and his poor Mom and twin sister. It was rumored that he was having an affair with someone high up and I believe that could be AM. I also think that AM's brother Randy was one of the first on the scene---maybe hoping to scam some money for the personal injury claim but also maybe to cover up for his brother or his nephew (buster is another suspect)
