 Why do children purposely need to be introduced to that? 

Teaching tolerance comes to mind.  It doesn't matter what I say, tho.  Your opinion is already set in stone.  


I'm facing a rather unique situation here, and I want to know 'what would sally do '?  

My granddaughter is 12,  somewhere around Christmas,  a boy in her class decided that he liked her,  and asked her out, even tried to kiss her several times.    She declined and avoided the kisses (keep in mind,  she's 12).   Said boy then saw her hugging a female friend and decided she was a lesbian,  he started verbally bullying her,  sending her hateful texts,  telling everyone who would listen that she was a dyke.   It got to the point where she's developed ulcers and getting her to go to school has been a challenge.   The school itself has been no help,  even though we showed them the text messages and several of her friends have reported the verbal abuse. 

The kid is 12, she has no idea what her sexual preference is yet,  however,  because she declined a males advances and hugged a female friend,  she is now 'that dyke ' in school.    7^th grade,  and she's ready to kill herself  due to lack of tolerance.   Meh,   I guess she would have been thrown into the foster care system,  had we lived in Florida.

I don’t think it’s solely due to lack of tolerance for gay people, I think it’s due to the fact that kids are little douchebags in general, especially in middle school. If it wasn’t the dyke story it would be another story. My daughter is going to be 12 in July and if it were her I’d tell her that these little fuckers mean nothing to you, they are waste of life losers who are mean spirited and beneath you. What to do in the meantime though when she has to go to school and face it is hard for a kid. Well stand tall, stay strong and tell everyone that loser is just mad because you wouldn’t go out with his ugly ass. That would be my advice.

And yes, I get that middle school aged kids are douchnozzles,  I mean,  I was tortured in middle school for having size 36D boobs in the 5^th grade, I only had my bra strap undone and my boobs punched,  at least I was never accused of being a dyke and having all my friends avoid me, for fear of also being accused of being a dyke.  

It's all good though,  I had the kid arrested for hate crimes and granddaughter is home schooled now.    Can't wait to hear what her future therapist blames me for.

I had a friend in middle school and she went over to this kids house who pressured her into having sex with him. Anyway he gave her some change to catch the bus back home which was like two dollars back then and the next day at school everyone was calling her the two dollar whore when he totally forced himself on her. It wasn’t me, but I’ve had similar experiences. Kids are assholes and not always, but most likely their parents are assholes too.

It’s the truth that it was a dumbass thing to say or it’s the truth that white guys are the only ones parents need to worry about?  I guess minorities and gays aren’t capable of harming children?

Whenever we hear about kids being abused either physically or sexually, 9 times out of 10 it's a white guy doing it.

I'm not sure if he was actually 'arrested '.    I pressed charges through the resource officer,  talked to the da and there's a court date coming up in August.   The only reason the resource officer did anything was because the boy recently started doing the same shir to a few other girls.

That isn't why it's being promoted. If it was really about tolerance the objective would be to focus on what we all have in common so that people wouldn't be threatened by those who appear different. Celebrating differences only serves to reinforce group identification.

If you really want to have tolerance in society, encourage people to identify as human beings, because that's the one thing we all have in common.

Bit of a difference between abusing someone because they *are* a lesbian, and calling someone a dyke because you didn't get what you wanted.

Sending the kid to pride events or dressing him in rainbow colors probably isn't going to change the fact that he's an abusive person that has some serious mental health issues.

When my son was about the same age there was this neighborhood bully kid outside of our house wanting to fight him over some dumb shit, something about a skateboard. So my husband tells my son to go fight him and then my son said he can’t because the kid is bigger and older than him. Well that was the wrong thing to say. My husband took my son outside and told him that you can either fight me or this motherfucker and if you pick me I’ll hurt you a lot worse than this pussy bitch and then spits at the kid. I’m just like omg really wtf are you doing. Then he tells my son that after he fights this kid that he’s gonna go to the kids house and beat the shit out of his father for raising such a punk ass bitch. The whole neighborhood can hear this. So then the kid jumped on his bike and rode away so fast I think he shit himself and we never heard anything of that ordeal again. Anyway I guess that was my husband’s way of making my son man up and he never needed a therapist over it.
