Anxiety
#1
Anyone else ever suffer from this? I was an anxious child but not so much as an adult except in certain situations (public speaking, anyone?) but I've noticed that after drinking alcohol, I'm REALLY anxious the next day. I had two, count them TWO, beers last night and I woke up feeling like hiding in the closet... racing heart, shortness of breath and a general feeling of dread.

This is fucking irritating, I like having an occasional drink but not if I end up feeling like this.

Any suggestions besides dying in a fire?

it's just because you're sensitive.

i never had the problem thankfully, but it must be awful.

Check for allergies to alcohol. Alcohol raises histmines and if you have any kind of allergy this sometimes is the effect the next day after drinking - especially if you have not had enough to get a buzz with.

I know this because I am allergic to damn near every plant in my state. Some alcoholic drinks are plant based (beer) and some sit in oak, ash or whatever other wood that you could be allergic to.

You could be so mildly allergic but once you drink, it raises the histimines and thus, you're body is telling you so the next day.

I hadn't heard of that before, I'll have to read up on it.

This is making me very cross... intellectually, I know it's some weird meaningless reaction to something, but physically my body's telling me there's something threatening me.

Could be hormones too, I guess. I just know I'm not going to be indulging in any alcoholic beverages for a while.

After drinking enough on Saturday to keep me drunk most of Sunday, I too can say the same.

I used to have problems with panic attacks and fear of social situations, now that I got a little job and I started studying its fading away gradually.

That anxious feeling after drinking is known in the UK as "the fear" it is very common.

"The Fear" is the sense that you have done yourself some lasting damage after a night of drinking. It's symptoms are:

- A feeling that you are going to die soon (and not just due to other hangover symptoms);
- A sense that people or organizations are out to get you;
- Angst that you may have offended, inappropriately touched or physically attacked someone the night before;
- Foreboding about the next time you meet the people or return to the bar where you degraded yourself the previous night.

The fear is often accompanied by "The Remorse" where you are also genuinely ashamed and sorry for the way you have behaved, as well as simply frightened for the sake of your own wellbeing.
Concerned Friend: "How are you feeling after last night?"
Sufferer: "I am riddled with The Fear. And cat AIDS."

I know that sometimes people get shaky the next day from drinking. Sort of like mild alcohol poisoning.

Lumpy had only a couple of beers and got that way. Not enough to question herself on anything OP pointed out in his "The Fear".

I think her issue might be some kind of allergic reaction.

Nice contribution, asshole. No one gets "The fear" from having two beers, thats barely enough to get an 8 year old drunk. "The fear" is something that happens to an alcoholic orsomeone who gets shit faced, blacks out or makes an ass of themselves. This is like the time you told Lumpy she had colon cancer because she was up peeing all night.

No......he isn't wrong, and those who voted for your reply are just as clueless as you. You don't have to be drunk to have a reaction that could set off an anxiety attack.

One mouthful of beer is enough to cause "the fear" the next day if your body reacts a certain way.

I experienced it myself when I had one shot of peach brandy at a party, it was all I had to drink all night and I had "the fear" the next day.

So yet again Sally is wrong, as are the dickheads who voted for her lame ass post.

I never said that the beer couldn't set off an anxiety attack, you dumbass. It could very well have something to do with it, but it is not "The fear". That's a feeling someone has after a night of getting drunk. Read his post, dip shit. It is accompanied by a feeling that you may have acted inappropriately and a feeling of shame. Drinking two beers does not do that.
