Speaking of Oprah, can you even imagine having her money? She can buy or have anything she wants. There is no way she could personally spend all her money. I can't even fathom having so much money that I just say I want that gazillion dollar thing and I have it. She never has to even think about how to pay the bills. It's like she has an unlimited supply of money.

I rmember when Martha Stewart was on trial for whatever that was and the talked about the jury, I thought to myself Martha has a billion dollars, how do they find a jury of 12 peers for her?
The only other woman on the planet with a billion dollars is Oprah.

Money only makes ones' financial worries disappear...Don't kid yourself into thinking it makes for a wonderful life or that everything will be pearls & roses forever more...That's just not the case at all.

I kind of wonder sometimes, would it be an even trade off to have say 50 years living a charmed Paris Hilton style, drug induced, party life and dying of an overdose or liver failure opposed to say having 80 years of a meger existence working for the man and struggling to get to the next paycheck.

There is absolutely NOTHING that could entice me to live like Paris Hilton...Jesus Christ...I'd rather eat out of a dumpster.

Something about that post just makes the words switch around in my head and all I see is "Paris Hilton - eat out a dumpster".

You know that expression, "to whom much is given, much is expected" ?...That's how I was raised...It's important to me to help others that don't have what I've been blessed with, it makes me happy & frankly, I get my jollies from that as well...PH is a selfish, self-centered bitch who appears to think only of herself & her needs...I would seriously live under a bridge if having a great deal of money would mean I would be like her.

I know what you are saying in that regard Duchess, I think that after you have so much good fortune it is time to give back. Some of these pro athletes and stuff reach that point and give back to the public, I think it's just being a good citizen.
But, if you were given a billion dollars do you think you could not be the normal rich person living the charmed life and dying young?
I think I could, I have no desire to own a fancy car or live in a mansion or any of that stuff, not now, not with a shit pile of money.
My life might turn into a whirlwind of nudie bars and senseless wandering.
But if the drugs and money got the best of me it would be the chance that I am willing to take.

I am reminded of a conversation I had with some friends last weekend. We somehow got on the topi of contentment..what in our lives make us content. On lady mentioned that it bothered her how so many people measure contentment materially...that you need a significant amount of money and material things to be content.
I just do not think that having a gazillion dollars is a sure measure of contentment.
Remember Howard Hughes? He was a millionaire, and ended up a recluse who peed in bottles because he never left one room of his house..germs and all. And Michael Jackson..was he REALLY content?
I just do not see my life changeing all that much if I suddenly got rich. Yeah, I may quit my job, get an new car and house in the country, but still liv pretty modestly.
I would not trade my life for Paris Hilton or Oprah any day.

I too don't think that money buys happiness. But not having to worry about money would be nice. If I ever won the lottery, I wouldn't want anyone to know. I would give a lot of it away to needy people and to children's hospitals. After my family is taken care of such as college funds for all the kids, pay off the bills, set my Mom up - how much money does a person really need anyway?
As for PH, I cannot stand her. She is famous for being an airhead. She is not attractive and she can't sing.

You know what I'd do if I won the lottery and had say 5 million?
Nothing.....I wouldn't do a Goddamn thing. I wouldn't work, I wouldn't invest, I wouldn't even draw interest on it, all I'd do is spend. I'd live in motels, when my clothes got dirty I'd go to wal-mart and buy more, I'd have some pretty bitch serve me my meals, and clean up after me. If I needed a car I'd rent it for awhile, if I needed anything I'd buy it, use it up and toss it.
I'd live like a locust.
I figured out one time that if you spent like $2,000 a week it would take almost 50 years to go through 5 mil, at my age and the lifestyle I'd lead I could spend $10,000 a week and still have plenty.

Why change now?
A few years ago I got 300 pairs of socks off e-bay for $60, I sold off 200 pairs and kept 100, I still have enough socks for about 5 more years.

being frugal is good...but if you were obscenely wealthy, you need to get your clothes at GOOD stores, tailor made. women notice a well-dressed man! no payless shoes either!

I would travel.
I'd buy horses and compete again.
I'd buy a motorcycle and go cross country ALONE stopping at whatever piqued my interest along the way and back.
I'd just be happy to have enough money to live comfortably and not worry about my bills though. I'd hate to be obscenely wealthy and then have to worry about money mangers with sticky fingers or being so stupid as to cause you catastrophic loss through mismanagement.

Awww...thanks for the rep.
Having bunches of money though, I would not give a damn what chicks thought of me, they would be throwing themselves at me like a bunch of slutty, money hungry, pigs anyway, and if they weren't I'd rent a few.

Hell no - bicycles are too much work. I miss my motorcycle and horses.
