MOVIES
If anyone can pull off a 'badass black cowboy' it's Denzel.

If you haven't seen Training Day or Man On Fire yet, do yourself a favor and see them.

Denzel can flat out act.

That would probably be my only reservation. Lee Marvin was the man. I'm not convinced Denzel will do him a solid.

I knew him personally. Trust me, Lee was the man.

Yeah I know, I was just joking. I crossdress and love musicals. Who am I to judge another man's manliness?

We saw "Split" last night. I thought it was a very good psychological thriller/suspense flick. B+.

I don't see a lot of new movies, so wasn't all that familiar with James McAvoy. He was really good as the complex psycho.

I haven't seen the movie but I did see that dude interviewed. The clip I saw looked very creepy and it was said he did an amazing job of portraying 20 different characters. I think it was 20, it sounds like a lot now that I see it in print.

During the film, his psychiatrist mentions that he has 23 personalities. But, I only remember seeing 5 of them in the story.

Another thriller/suspense movie that's somewhat similar and even better, in my opinion, is 'Identity' with John Cusack. It came out like 10 years ago, but I've watched it with different people at home a couple of more times over the years. It's one of those that's hard to turn if you come upon it on cable.

If you get the FX channel, HotD, you might also enjoy Legion premiering February 8th.

Thanks Clang -- that looks pretty trippy. I'll check it out.

Have y'all seen Scarface? For those of you who are movie buffs, I read that Joel & Ethan Coen are going to polish the script for a re-make, what do you think of that?

Awesome. Adam Sandler to play Tony Montana?

Stephen King's "IT" has been made into a movie, opening Sept 8th. We haven't been to the movies in a long time; I'm gonna take my niece to see it. Early reviews are overall very positive.

There was a television movie based on the book some time back, I think. Didn't watch that. But, I read the novel for a couple of hours each night after everyone else went to bed when I was young; took a long while to finish that one. Pennywise was a pretty effin' evil and scary clown. The 2017 movie adaptation is said to be scary as shit.

I don't like when movies are "re-made" especially good movies. With all the amazing books out there why do people think that they can make a great movie greater? Re-making old television shows etc. gets annoying.

I hear ya -- not a big fan of remakes (or endless sequels) myself.

IT hasn't been a big screen movie before, I don't think. It was made into a tv movie. I never saw it, but did read that Tim Curry played Pennywise; he's great at those kind of roles.

IT was a really good read (long) read. Hope the new movie is as good and scary as the claims.

I read the book before the TV movie was made. Part I of the TV movie was scary part II not so much.

Yowzers.

The new adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel brought in an estimated $117.1 million for Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema at the North American box office this weekend, its first in theaters.

That is the largest opening for a film debuting in September, nearly $70 million more than the previous record. According to Warner Bros., it is also the largest opening for a horror movie ever.

I bought tickets today for my niece and I to see IT on Thursday night; got the last two available seats at the theater.

We have an Alamo Drafthouse very near the house now, but neither of us have been or done the whole movie with dinner and drinks deal before. We both need a break and love good horror movies -- should be fun.
