Rest in peace officer Antwan Toney (left).
Toney, a Southern California native, had just turned 30 when, on October 20 th, he and his partner responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a middle school parking lot.
Toney was shot and the vehicle sped off.
Toney died shortly thereafter at the hospital while police apprehended the driver of the vehicle, which he'd crashed.
The driver was not the shooter. After a 2-day manhunt, police located the suspected shooter hiding in a backyard shed.
Police say that suspect Tafahre Maynard - 18 (right) refused to show his hands and was not subdued when tasered. So, an officer shot and killed him.
Police continue investigating the incident and looking to hold accountable anyone who assisted Maynard while he was on the lam.

Yeah, according to today's news. I don't think LE has released his name yet. Here's what I found:
The man suspected of killing a California police officer during a traffic stop early Wednesday in Newman was in the country illegally, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said.
The man ^ is suspected of shooting Newman police Cpl. Ronil “Ron” Singh after the officer stopped him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
“This suspect, unlike Ron – who immigrated to this country lawfully and legally to pursue his life-long career of public safety, public service and being a police officer – this suspect is in our country illegally,” Christianson said Thursday at a news conference.
Ron was a husband and father of one -- a baby born in July. :(
Singh immigrated to the U.S. from Fiji and worked or volunteered for several police agencies in the area before joining the 12-member Newman Police Department in 2011, police Chief Randy Richardson said. Singh was a K-9 handler and had his K-9, Sam, in the car with him when he was shot, Richardson said. He added that Sam had on a Mrs. Claus costume when officers found her.
“Please remember the man. Please remember the husband. Please remember what he was, what he came to this country to do. Yes, he was a police officer but more importantly, he was a human being, and that’s how he would’ve wanted to be remembered.”

^ UPDATE
- Gustavo Perez Arriaga, 32, who is accused of killing a California officer Ron Singh, was arrested in Bakersfield today. He was identified as a Mexican national who entered the U.S. illegally. At the time of his arrest, police say he was trying to flee to Mexico.
- He was a farm laborer and a part of the notoriously violent Sureños gang.
- He is accused of killing Singh, 33, by shooting him several times after the officer pulled him over on suspicion of DUI.
- Authorities at first didn't name Arriaga because he has several aliases and needed to be confirmed by fingerprint in person.
- Arriaga's brother and a friend were detained for helping the killer evade law enforcement.

It's fucked up and sad.
Officer Carter was on detail in a really rough area, according to reports.
The names of the suspects haven't been released yet, as far as I can see.

O’Sullivan was killed while assisting on a domestic violence call in north Sacramento. The man charged with her murder, 45-year-old Adel Ramos (pictured below), surrendered to police after an eight-hour standoff.
By the time officers arrived on behalf of a woman who wanted to retrieve her belongings to find the front door barricaded, they learned there was a misdemeanor warrant against Ramos and that he had firearms in the house.
Police confirmed that they recovered four firearms and a cache of ammunition, all of which he used in the stand-off, which were placed in strategic locations throughout the house.
Ramos' brother told the press that Ramos has been on drugs for years, his family is estranged from him, and that Ramos has been violent in the past as well.

My God. These stories are always so awful.
I can hardly believe they took the shooter alive, or maybe I'm just surprised at their restraint.

It's just pure evil. It's a choice. The other day I had to go to the police station to put in my application form for a police check for my new employer. The police station was locked and there was a criminal waiting out there on the steps. He was scary, it wasn't till after we left we realised the danger we were in. He never shut up talking and after I realised he was sizing up my wallet and how easy it would be to snatch it from me. He never shut up talking the whole time, raving about how he was innocent and just got out of jail.
We walked away and I went there the next day.

The other officer down from Covid-19 was with the Chicago PD and will be identified and remembered later today.

It is a stain on our country that there is not enough PPE for all of those on our front lines.
