Catherine Zeta-Jones checks into a mental health facility

Just three months after Michael Douglas told “Today’s” Matt Lauer, “I’ve got (cancer) beat,” his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, has checked herself into a mental health facility.

The actress, who has been by Douglas’ side since he was diagnosed with throat cancer last fall, is seeking treatment for bipolar II disorder, her rep confirms to CNN.

Bipolar II disorder, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, is less severe than bipolar I disorder, causes irritability and mood swings occurring as often as several times a day, or as seldom as a few times a year.

“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder. She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films.”

If irritability and mood swings are symptoms of type 2 bipolar disorder then most women seem to get it once a month regular as clockwork.

(CNN) -- Actor Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans early Saturday and faces charges of disturbing the peace and domestic abuse, authorities said.
Cage, 47, and his third wife, Alice Kim, have a five-year-old son. His previous two marriages to Patricia Arquette and Lisa Marie Presley ended in divorce.
The Academy Award winner has played in dozens of films, but is best known for his roles in "Raising Arizona" and "Leaving Las Vegas," for which he nabbed an Oscar.

Another attempt to do a Charlie Sheener. LOL

Prosecutor Danette Meyers said she will seek to overturn Sautner's decision on the misdemeanor charge, which would limit how long Lohan could serve in jail to no more than one year.

"The judge abused her discretion in this case," Meyers said. "It was a felony filing because the defendant was on probation.... She has violated on numerous occasions ... the evidence was incredibly strong.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Lindsay Lohan was taken into custody at the end of Friday's hearing in her necklace theft case after the judge sentenced her to 120 days in jail for violating her drunk driving probation.

The actress was expected to post a $75,000 bond at the jail and be freed. The judge granted the bond after her lawyer filed a notice of appeal.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner also ordered Lohan to serve 480 hours of community service, including 360 hours at a downtown Los Angeles women's center.

Sautner suggested Lohan might behave better after seeing "how truly needy women and women who have fallen on real hard times have to live."

She must complete another 120 hours of community service at the Los Angeles County morgue. hahahahahaha

The judge also ruled Friday that the necklace theft case against Lohan will go forward to trial, but the felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

"I'm going to give her an opportunity," Sautner said.

Sautner did not buy the defense argument that Lohan accidentally walked out of a Venice, California, jewelry store wearing a necklace that later appeared around her neck in photographs taken five days later.

"If in fact it was an accident, she could have called the store back," Sautner said.

Defense attorney Shawn Holley argued that Lohan was busy and scattered when she was at the store and absent-mindedly walked out with the necklace.

"It's undisputed that Ms. Lohan walked out of the store with the necklace on," Holley said. The prosecution must show she had "specific intent to permanently deprive the store of that necklace."

"I see the intent here and the level of brazenness to say 'Let me see what I can get away with here,' " Sautner said.

I partied my ass off when I was young. I grew up Cali in the 80's, so it was a great place to be to get in big trouble. I give the girl a small pass in my heart. She is young, beautiful, rich, and a famous Hollywood actress. She isn't pretending to save the world like some of the other douchebags.

It's OK Lindsay, just slow down a little honey. And only get effed up at the hizzy...

I did some questionable things when I was her age but I wasn't behind the wheel fucked up or stealing jewelry from a pricey boutique.

I hate to put this into writing, but it is truth.

I wish I could say I have never driven while I was under the influence, but that would be a lie. When I was growing up, DUI was a misdemeanor. I grew up in a rural area, ranch lands and empty space, so we didn't have much to do other than drink/get high/listen to music/drive around. While we mostly stayed on dirt roads, we also used to get high and cruise town. We would drive outside of town ten miles or so to drink and fish, and drive back when we were done. We didn't have video games or Internet or fancy phones back then. We were outside 90% of the time, not stuck inside on our asses.

If the cops caught us, they made us lock up the cars and drove us all home and dropped us off on our doorsteps. Our parents would bitch at us, then take us to get our cars the next morning. Every now and then, one of us would lose driving privileges for a week or two. I can only remember 3 car accidents from my youth that maimed/killed kids, only one was due to DUI.

If they are being honest, most people around my age that grew up in rural areas will have similar stories. As much as I would like to be shocked by Lindsay, I honestly can't be too highbrow as I used to own a Deering and I know what a bullet is (not the gun kind).

I have never been a thief, though. I hate a fucking thief. Most people who have earned what they have do not take things they haven't earned.

(I have to add this. My biggest partner in crime was brother (he's a year older than I am), who is now the biggest tight-assed cop you would ever want to meet. I am also a contributing member of society. If you knew either of us at 16-21, you would never have effen guessed. I would fuck one of my kids up for doing the things we did, but I understand the mindset. Lindsay isn't trying to hurt anyone but herself.)

'not trying' doesn't count when some innocent dies due to her selfish criminal negligence. i don't give a shit if she ODs on heroin up her ass and drives herself off a cliff. that will be her choice as an adult who has been given every opportunity and advantage. she doesn't want to clean up, ok. i know, it sucks to be an addict. i will care however, when she kills someone. then bleats to the judge that she's special and has a problem. 34
most of us didn't continue the teenage idiocy into adulthood.

oh and you're right, she IS a thief. but she'll skate on that too.

I don't think she'll skate completely. Too many people are watching. She'll be on probation the rest of her life, however long that is.

I don't even know people who drink and drive now, but I don't hang with any addicted persons. "Normal" people grow out of that self-destructive behavior. I hope Lindsay will, too, before she dies or kills someone. I just can't claim total innocence or pretend I wasn't a complete dumbass when I was young. I bet most people have driven under the influence at least a few times in their lives. I never trust anybody who "didn't inhale."

At least 30 percent of our population is living on meds that alter their normal state of being. I don't differentiate between pill heads, drunks, crackheads, and other altered people. So many try to take the high road while they are living in a chemical haze themselves...

But you are at home. THAT is the difference. I don't care what anybody does at home as long as children aren't involved.
