It was all over our local news this morning. Supposed to hit here late Sunday night or early Monday monrning. So you know the grocery stores are going to be even more crazy than usual. People in the area hit last year up here are already preparing for the worst.

Here where I am I always get "blizzard phone calls" from family members who watch the Weather Channel and they always show a snowstorm story with that one poor fool whose house gets covered to the chimney. You'd think that guy would move away or something. But meanwhile, my family thinks I'm up to my chestnuts in frozen tundra so I get panicked messages "hey you okay?" from all the southerners who think subzero is anything below freezing. Hell, I don't even bother to throw on a coat for a blizzard if I'm only going to the mailbox or my car...
This storm is being called Frankenstorm for us because it has potential to mix with another oncoming pattern from the west. So six straight days of rain basically. And our weather guys are dying for it to get cold enough to use the "B"word. They got screwed out of it last year.

Now I've just read this storm referred to as a mega-storm & a rare bohemoth storm.

Preparedness mitigates fear.
Using hyperbole every time there is a potentially dangerous storm nullifies the message, and the the media hype every significant weather event these days. Snowmegeddon, snor'easter, perfect storm, hell storm, apocalyptic precipitation... it's all ridiculous sensationalism of weather events.
They aren't Hollywood movies. They are weather events. The media should keep it in perspective.
Be vigilant, prepared, and you'll be fine.

It was said by the media mongols that this storm coming here to the NE will be the worst one in "70" years! One can expect elect power to be out for several days. It is predicted to be worse then last October 28 th's freak monster SNOW storm here that left us without elect power for 4-1/2 days. Some poor souls were without power for 14+ days.
Can't believe another freak storm is coming here again October 28⁄ 29 through ?
(predictions are for it lasting up to 3 to 4 days, so . . . . )

It has been in the high 70s this week. If the wind is just right, we, land of first snowflake and the town shuts down, may get a couple of inches of snow. Funny thing is sometimes the snow actually sticks to the warm ground around here.

I woke up to being under a state of emergency. Ugh. The entire Delmarva Peninsula is covered in red on the map. No wind yet & it is raining lightly. I expect that to change as the day goes on. My area is calling for 10-12 inches of rain, flooding doesn't concern me but the high winds will morph me straight into a hotmess.

The track I just saw showes the storm hitting the coast up near Philly now. Last night it was heading right for Cecil County. Yea, atleast we won't get hit with the tidal surge. I can deal with down power lines I have a generator and plenty of fuel on hand.

Looking outside this morning, the sky is ominous DARK gray! And the event is not supposed to even start here until tomorrow, according to the news mongers.
Hope 90% of all the hullabaloo is hype! Time will tell.

Well this morning the winds are beginning to howell out there, and the brunt of "Frankinstorm" is predicted to get here later on around noon.
So it won't be too long till the power likely goes out.
We have a well, so no power, no water. Tons of ice in the freezer, every pot in the house is now filled with water, the tub filled to top, and have 6 cases of bottled water, 4 cases of wine coolers, 2 cases of assorted diet Snapple. Have a camping propane gas burner to make coffee, eggs, & light hot meals. (So only if it gets really "cold", it will make it uncomfortable, since no heat)
Tub water is used to fill buckets to "flush" de bowl!

Sounds like Car is all ready to go. You might need more wine coolers though.
