My brother in Jax said that he, and you, could have storm surge, serious storm surge. Start calling for reservations now. Please.

Is your roof tied down good and tight?
Yeah we just put a new one on a few months ago. My entire backyard privacy fence is going down though, I know that.
What category is the storm?

I read it's a Cat 3 and expected to intensify one more time before making landfall.

Yes, but it's at my husband's warehouse so I don't have to worry about the fence coming down on it.

I can move inland, but I don't know which is better. Inland always floods and over here near the beach it never has. This is always such a pain in the ass.

Yep, as long as no one dies I kind of hope for them.

If you're going to stay, fill the bathtub/s with water so you can flush even if you lose electricity. Charge all your devices, make sure you have gas in your vehicles & grill, and so on, you know the drill. I know you know this, but it makes me feel like I have some control by telling you. I said the same things to my brothers. I know, there isn't an eye roll big enough.

No *sigh*
I suppose that could change, but the last time I talked to him earlier today he said he wasn't too worried about the surge and that he would keep me updated for as long as he had cell service. He had been trying to get one of my other brothers to come and stay with him, but he declined. Like you, this isn't their first rodeo. I don't think any of you are appropriately concerned.

I have a friend just north of Tampa and she knows her preparations aren't going to be shit in this and plans to evac if neccesary.
But now she is saying it will pass just to the east of her, but still be a lot of rain and flooding like Irma.
Where is the best place to get updates?

For those interested, this is the National Hurricane Center twitter account. They are very good about staying on top of this.

Just got off of a “Tornado” watch from 6:20 pm to 7:15, then extended to 7:45, then extended to 8:10pm
Lots of lightening and thunder, rain, luckily no Tornado! Scary.
