~~trying to reason with hurricane season~~
There was flooding in Durham. I just googled it. Maybe shoot him off a text, Clang.

Definitely.

And it seems NC has been declared an emergency and national guard has been called in as well as additional help. I should know better than to rely on comments from fb posts.

I just read that the only way in to Asheville is by air. All the roads are closed and it sounds like so many of them are washed out.

I will. Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. Start planning his funeral, maybe?

Clang

So no phone call huh.

They didn't get it as bad as other areas.

No phone call. But I did text him and he is ok. He gets spotty internet and phone service up in the mountains.

Glad you heard from him.

I heard from my friend. She has no power and no water. Her and her neighbors are working together. In her message she told me that she knew there was a land slide on the road she uses to travel in to Asheville. She knows that Black Mountain and Asheville is devastated but of course she hasn't been sitting on line looking at images like we have. Ugh.

It is going to take them a long time to re build.

Typical filthy republican. Not only do they do shit like this, they take credit for all the good things for their states after voting against it every motherfucking time.

That person is very presumptuous. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that there are many, many small communities who don't get a shout out. There is a fuck ton of misery to go around.

That's exactly what she said. Exactly. Not even a shout-out, much less actual coverage, which would entail flying out to those communities.

I was reading some people who are making their own arrangements, they are taking things into their own hands and finding ways to be productive.

I don't count on MSM for much of anything any more. I look for other ways to get information. I'm just so fucking disgusted by so many news organizations these days.

I was supposed to go to Asheville this weekend for a concert and to see some friends and family, had everything paid for and a lot of it non refundable. My gf was apologizing for not getting the flight insurance but really I am finding it hard to even be mad about losing some cash and being inconvenienced when I know people's whole lives just got washed away. Context ya know? Finally heard from our loved ones and they are okay-ish, but it took days and was pretty nerve wracking.

Hope anybody here who is in the path of that mess is good. Any of you Floridians or southerners take a hit?
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

Hi Donovan!

Love Child has friends there and Clang's brother lives down there as well. One of our members lives an hour from the worst of it and experienced a lot of rain and downed trees, but she said they are doing okay.

I like your attitude in regards to your lost weekend, honey.

The governor of South Carolina is Henry McMaster, he's a republican. He was asked about the federal response to the hurricane in his state and he said it has been "superb". I'm putting that out there because trump is running around the country (lying) saying the president and VP aren't around and doing their jobs.

My brother lost internet for a few hours but his county was mostly spared alot of damage. His neighbors north of him were not so lucky.
