I heard that there was a county in Florida, telling people who stay, to use a permanent marker to write your name, date of birth and a phone number, so your body can be easily identified?

A lot of people don't even have money to leave or are too old to leave. I saw a nursing home in NC with elderly patients sitting in four ft of water. Where is the goverment, where is fema? No fucking where. The goverment is too busy sending billions of dollars to Ukraine because they feel so sorry for them. It's not just this administration either, the same thing happened with Bush and Katrina.

The money sent to other countries comes from a completely different place than the money budgeted for natural disasters.

If it looks really bad I'm going to have to pack them all up with me and leave by tomorrow morning.

Good luck sal, hope you don't get stuck in massive gridlock. Many folks are waiting for the last minute also, you may want to consider going now. When there's just gridlock.

We won't be (can't) leaving our abode under any circumstances.

I meant just going over to the mainland to my husband's office. I'm not getting gridlocked on the highway, I think I'd rather die lol. I'm a block away from the ocean and we usually get evacuated to the mainland even though they always get hit worse and flood.

Well yeah, that close to the ocean you really need to get to safety. Yeah, being gridlocked on the highway would be a killer situation. We are about 6 miles from the ocean, and all the sewers in our development and surrounding area, have been replaced, so flooding has been rectified. Our 47 year old CBC structure here has been through many many hurricanes without any major damage. So . . . . . .
(Hope I just didn't jinx it)

Stop playing stupid, you know what I meant. Just because the budget for natural disaters is seperate does not excuse it.

It's all financed with debt, and debt is all that backs our currency. It's hard to buy oil and other resources with debt money when nations have a choice to accept money that isn't debased. BRICS is increasingly providing that choice. The end result is going to be austerity, which is how it always goes for debtor nations.

So what. It doesn’t negate that disaster money is separate from money sent to foreign nations and/or spent on immigration (and Trump did such a great job increasing the national debt in his first term). It’s bullshit and the fact that he’s using natural disasters to to try to amp people up over immigration and wars overseas (basically advance his campaign agenda) is disgusting.

But hey, he generously sent Putin Covid tests when they were in short supply here and apparently had roughly 7 calls with him since he left office so…nice guy, right? Waiting for more deets on that (the timing etc) but if any of those calls occurred after the Ukraine invasion and after Putin threatened to use nuclear weapons? How is that NOT treasonous? And he didn’t have any NSA personnel involved in the call(s) and dismissed an aide that was in the room (first reports are stating). Fucking scum.

The fact that they're separate items in the budget has nothing to do with what sally was getting at. It all gets added to the national debt, which is already well past the point of ever being resolved without going into default.
