A few sports related thoughts:
The Detroit Lions will make the playoffs in the NFC this year. This is really big news, as they've basically sucked since Barry Sanders left (10 years ago).
The Bills will also make the playoffs. Their young Quarterback is the real deal. If you can score in this league, you'll win games.
The Red Sox will continue to fold down the stretch and fail to win the AL Wild Card.
The Yanks and Phils (odds on favorites to get to the World Series) will not make it that far. I've got the Tigers and Brewers meeting in the Fall Classic.
NBA labor will finally strike a deal around Christmas, setting the stage for a 50-game season. Something similar to 1999.
All my Minnesota clubs will continue to suck. No end in sight to their ineptitude.

Obit: Tom Brady's Long Hair 2009 - 2011
Tom Brady’s long hair passed away on Monday after brief but controversial life widely chronicled in gossip columns and the sports press. It was 2 years old.
The death was visually confirmed at a New England Patriots press conference earlier today when Brady appeared before reporters wearing a baseball cap, his chestnut hair closely cropped around the sides. His longtime Newbury Street stylist, Pini Swissa, told a reporter that the QB’s long locks were cut down in their prime on Monday.
Born in Foxborough in 2009, Brady’s flowing hair went on to achieve international stardom, becoming an object of adoration for some and abhorrence for others.
Shortly after it’s birth, Tom Brady’s Long Hair (known to family and friends as TBLH) drew attention for it’s spunky personality and ability to excite and incite fans of the Patriots. The flowing locks at one time reached No. 12’s shoulders. More recently, TBLH was bobbed to around chin length and seemed a bit more auburn than usual, a byproduct perhaps of summer sun and stress over the NFL lockout, now passed.
Initially accused of impersonating Canadian teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, TBLH soon developed its own rambunctious persona, growing at a rapid clip, and even traveling to Rio de Janeiro last year and disguising itself as a ponytail to evade paparazzi. Fans could not stop talking about it, at one point speculating that the Prince Valiant-like hairdo was a misguided attempt to cover an incipient thinning of his hair. Such rumors have never be confirmed.
Many observers have attempted to determine the birth mother of TBLH, hypothesizing that the guiding influence behind it was Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, well-known for her own flowing tresses. The hair also is rumored to have used its influence to get former Patriot Randy Moss traded after the receiver reportedly claimed that TBLH made Brady look like “a girl.”
TBLH is survived, of course, by the newly shorn Brady, the QB’s wife Bundchen, and several lucrative endorsement deals including one for Ugg Australia, famous for its line of shaggy boots. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to the Vidal Sassoon and Aveda lines of hair conditioners.

LC, there must be a TON of teeth gnashing going on in Beantown today. I can't even imagine. SportsRadio is blown up, and I'm sure every Sox fan is blaming the Yankees for not playing all of their regulars instead of looking at the 7-20 record for the month of September. A truly historic meltdown.

Well, any individuals with a bookie (or living in Vegas) wager your last paycheck on the Tigers tonight. In Yankee Stadium. Yes, do it. You can thank me in the morning (and feel free to send me 10% in a PayPal acct).

Just checked my account this morning and discovered..... nothing in there??? Somebody MUST have taken my advice and wagered on the Tigers last night. Oh well.
Today, a couple more Game 5's on tap. Take the Brewers and Cardinals.

Well, half of this statement is now correct. Too bad I gave up gambling, I'd have won a ton in the past month.

I don't know, Duchess, the Eagles are finding ways to lose. Good luck, though. It sucks having a team that blows (see: Minnesota Vikings).

I've actually been rooting for Buffalo this year, that's who we play tomorrow. I've been rooting for the Lions too, they deserve a winning season but I'm totally faithful to my beloved Birds, through thick and thin. *sigh*

Well, the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles, dubbed 'the Dream Team' by themselves, dropped to 1-4 yesterday. Ouch. They now have the same record as my hapless Minnesota Vikings. By the way, we're going to send you Donovan McNabb back, free of charge.

By one person, Vince Young, to say "themselves" implies more than one or the entire team and that's just not the case at all.

See, that's how rumors get started. I hear one thing in a certain part of the country, and just assume that the entire team has dubbed themselves 'the Dream Team'.
Anyway, they've got work to do, but the NFC East is still very winnable with a 10-6 record. It's doable.

Vince said that immediately after being signed, he was asked how he felt about being with them & he began to comment on all the talent that was put under contract the moment the lockout was lifted. He jinxed us.
I appreciate reading that they can salvage the season, it's been a very disappointing four weeks. Wah

So this is where you, Dear Reader, set up an account with BoDog, and start making money.
The Detroit Lions are on national TV tonight, the first time at home on MNF since 2001. They are playing division rival Chicago, and have lost 6 straight games to them.
Never fear. Wager on the Lions (-5.5) and start 'making paper'.
