NEW
Investigating the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, who vanished while on vacation; Gardner's boyfriend and roommate discuss the case.

She's been missing for months now - Robyn Gardner - a vibrant young woman who vanished on a trip to the Caribbean. It's a case that made headlines, recalling another mystery: that of Natalee Holloway, another blonde, beautiful American who disappeared in Aruba. And now, the prime suspect in the Gardner case has been released from an Aruban prison. Tonight, he sits down with Josh Mankiewicz, for his most emotional, in-depth interview yet -- talking about Robyn Gardner, their relationship, and what may have happened to her.
Josh Mankiewicz reports "Missing in Paradise" tonight at 10pm/9c on Dateline NBC.

i could barely stand the sight of jose baez sitting there, nevermind listen to him. seriously, he enrages me as soon as i look at his fat smarmy face.
and that is one of the worst rugs i have ever seen sitting atop gary g's head like a roadkill wolverine.
and oh yeah, he's lying.

***Gary Giordano, the lone suspect in the disappearance of Robyn Gardner in Aruba, said he believes human traffickers may be behind it, but he couldn't explain how they might have made off with the woman.*** WHAT? That is the best he can come up with? Bullshit

**"What you don't know about Aruba is Aruba has two main sources of income and it's not tourism. It's cocaine and human trafficking,"** AND HOW do you know this?

***"At some point I became distressed and found out that I had a problem coming back to shore. Robyn was, I thought, behind me, and she wasn't. I turned, did not see her, and I went for help,"*** WHY would you just take off for help if you didnt know where she was, maybe she went in a different direction? Why wouldn't you go see? ALSO, where DID THEY GET THE "SNORKELING" equipment? Did they actually rent equipment?

There is so many issues with this interview...You have to read it for yourself. I hope to god he is not being paid for this shit!! Smiley_emoticons_shockedSmiley_emoticons_kotz

I laughed out loud at the idea of human traffickers being responsible for Robyn's disappearance. Huh? How did they get her out of the water without Giordano noticing? That idea is just plain bizarre.

Excellent question about the snorkeling equipment. Did GG have snorkeling equipment in his possession when LE arrived?

His whole story never made sense to me. From all reports, the water was calm that day. Even if some wind came up in that particular location, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. And if GG thought it was tough going out there, why wouldn't he make sure Robyn was okay? Even if his story were true, he's a scumbag for not seeing to Robyn's safety out there.

If I came back to shore and didn't see my snorkeling partner, I would start screaming her name. I don't recall any reports of anyone hearing that.

Let GG talk all he wants. If he's ever prosecuted, his words will come back to bite him. I was surprised Baez let him do the Dateline interview - then I remembered it was Baez, the very definition of incompetence.

i HOPE this trial is televised. details in post #1

GABE Watson will stand trial in Alabama this month for planning and executing the scuba diving murder of his bride on their 2003 Queensland honeymoon.

The case is set to begin on February 13 in Birmingham's Jefferson County courthouse.

At least nine Australian witnesses - including Queensland police officers, members of the Spoilsport dive vessel and Queensland coroner's forensic pathologist Dr David Williams - are expected to give evidence at the trial, which could take up to one month to complete.

The trial is expected to be emotionally-charged, with Judge Tommy Nail telling the prosecution and Watson's legal teams at a preliminary hearing last month to "quit acting like children and act more like adults" after receiving letters from both sides.

"Any case of this magnitude is going to have inflamed passions on both sides," Watson's attorney, Joe Basgier, said.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Day 2 of the Gabe Watson trial brought the first appearance of emotion from the defendant. During the playing of a recording of Watson's recount of how his wife died, he could be seen teary-eyed and dabbing at his face with tissues.Crying-into-tissue

Queensland Police detective Kevin Gehringer continued his testimony on Wednesday. Gehringer was questioned if Watson seemed impaired in any way after his wife died. The detective responded that his demeanor was calm and he was able to provide a high amount of detail.

On Tuesday, jurors listened for more than two hours to audio tapes of the conversation between Gabe Watson and Gehringer. On those tapes Watson can be heard explaining what happened. He said that he and Tina started to swim back to the boat when he noticed she was going down. He said started to pull her, and at some point she reached up and knocked off his face mask. He is then heard saying that he grabbed his mask and put it back on, but had to let go of her to do so. He says he turned around to see what was going on and at that point saw her going down behind him.

At the time of Tina's death, the Watsons were in the town of Townsville, Queensland. They were diving at a historic shipwreck site called the Yongala, about 48 miles off the coast of the Great Barrier Reef. The Yongala is a steam ship that sank in 1911 and today it's a world-renowned dive site.

Prosecutors say that Watson killed his wife to get more than $200,000 of life and travel insurance money, while defense attorneys contend that the dive company had a hand in Tina Watson's death. The prosecution adds that Watson was a trained rescue diver and question why he was not able to or didn't pull Tina to safety.

Defense attorneys argue that both Gabe and Tina were both inexperienced divers. HORSESHIT, HE WAS A CERTIFIED RESCUE DIVER! They pointed the finger at the dive company itself, saying that the leader of the trip should have insisted that Tina take an orientation dive before going out, but they did not do so.

They also say that due to Tina's inexperience, she had too much weight during the dive and that caused her to sink.

Prosecutors say some of the passengers on the boat with the Watsons could take the stand as early as Thursday.

HOLY SHIT THAT JUDGE IS SENILE!!
this should have gone to jury to decide!

he was clearly guilty. this will crush her parents.

and btw, i never went into it, but his current wife is a Slut
maybe he'll drown her too.

A man accused of murdering his wife on their honeymoon and making it look like a scuba-diving accident was acquitted today after the judge in his trial threw out the case.

Circuit Judge Tommy Nail ruled Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama that prosecutors failed to present enough evidence of a crime to send the case to jurors.

He ended the two-week-long trial by acquitting 34-year-old Gabe Watson on his own.

Wtf this is absolutely insane, was this judge being paid off!!!
I was watching the news this morning and legal correspondents were just saying what a strong case the prosecutors could build and how so far was pointing to him being found guilty. I am astonished!
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

i'm convinced that judge is senile or has dementia.

It has been almost a decade since his daughter died, but the father of Tina Watson said the acquittal of her accused killer has left the family feeling like she died all over again.

While 'honeymoon killer' Gabe Watson, 34, celebrates his freedom by appearing on ABC's 2020 to speak about his late wife's drowning death, her family are now dealing with the devastation they will never see justice done for their daughter.

Tina's father, William 'Tommy' Thomas, told RadarOnline: 'I did not watch the interview, I have heard enough from him.

'We don’t have any closure, how could we? To us it is like Tina died all over again.'

10 months later. the swine.

Robyn Gardner.
Gary Giordano is hoping to cash in on a $3.5 million travel insurance policy he took out in the woman's name.

Gary Giordano, who spent four months in an Aruban jail as a 'person of interest', says in a suit that AMEX Assurance Company owes him the sum for the policy he bought before the trip last August.

The lawsuit claims Robyn is presumed dead and American Express should pay the full death benefit - but the company has said it is too soon.

Giordano found himself in the news again when he was arrested last month in Annapolis after allegedly having sex in the back of an SUV in a public parking garage.

Who in their right mind would have sex with him? She should be glad she is still ALIVE. He has proven to me that he killed her, trying to collect on that policy. I knew he killed her. Sick piece of shit. And he is ugly, yuck!
