Jumping in front of a fast moving train would probably be pretty fast. And no one else would get hurt.

No one really knows what is going on in someone's else's mind. Apparently that woman was tormented by something that to her was insurmountable.
During my 45 year working career, I had "3" people that worked for me that committed suicide. (Pretty sure I was not a factor) All were a shock, as each one never showed any signs of wanting to end it all. They all left young kids & young spouses behind, very sad actually.

I've read that it is highly unusual for women to take a violent way out. They usually resort to OD'ing or use a manner that won't fuck with their looks. Strange, huh.

I think the thing to remember is that when someone decides to harm themselves, to attempt or actually successfully kill themselves they are not thinking with a normal rational thought process.
If they are depressed, the chemicals in their brain are imbalanced and they are very ill. If they are thinking about "doing it", they are not thinking about the logistics of where, when and who. I feel sorry for you User, for your loss, because you will feel something, it is shocking. I feel sorry for your acquaintance, she has lost her life. She is being judged by people who don't understand what she was going though. Sometimes people miss the signs and after an event like that there is blame and guilt and a larger amount of grief because of the feeling of 'if only'. I saw that Rick Warren's son had battled with mental illness all his life and recently committed suicide. I thought that his response and his openness about this event was insightful and therapeutic to others that may also be suffering.

I saw that Rick Warren interview; he seemrd almost likable for a preacher.
One thing is for sure. I've heard people say that those who are seriously considering suicide rarely talk about it. Bullshit. Rick said he and his wife had talked their son off the ledge many times (they probably thought it would work similarly the last time). The local lady told many people that she was considering suicide. Problem is, you hear it often and long enough and you stop believing they're serious. Boy/Wolf. :( Commando Cunt Queen

Thanks to this thread I've just learned suicide is skyrocketing! the economy seems to play a role in some of it, loss of job, foreclosure etc., most of us have heard about people over extending themselves with credit cards but, I don't recall spendthrift suicide.
I cannot understand people who want to exit out of life because of economic problems. They need to re-think here, life can be very unfair, cruel and harsh and things don't always go the way we planned. People need to learn to be survivors not losers. Interesting article below More Americans Committing Suicide than During the Great Depression Posted on May 17, 2013 by WashingtonsBlog The number of deaths by suicide has also surpassed car crashes, and many connect the increase in suicides to the downturn in the economy. Around 35,000 Americans kill themselves each year (and more American soldiers die by suicide than combat; the number of veterans committing suicide is astronomical and under-reported). So you’re 2,059 times more likely to kill yourself than die at the hand of a terrorist. http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2013/05/m...ssion.html
