my take on that is "robbery by known person(s)".
robbery needn't be strangers. (i know you didn't mean to imply that)
which would fit what i have thought all along, murder was not intended/planned. rip-off was...whether drugs/cash/both.

also, was it snowing during the hours of which the murders are presummed to have occured? If so, depending on how hard, that could be the reason for no footprints...and what about car tracks
i hesitate to answer since the media reports are not always accurate. you can read at various news outlets for some of those answers, but i wouldn't vouch for anything not coming directly from LE.
i have read there was snow on ground. but driveway cleared. i don't see snow in photos in post #118. however, photos may not be contemporaneous to crime.
also, garage must have been closed if dad had to break in a door... unless it was door from garage into house.

satellite photos from #118 are absolutely not recent photos, there has been snow cover in this area since before thanksgiving.
in addition, you can see the the neighbour's pool directly to the north is not winterized in the photos, however the straub's pool is. the majority of the pools in the area are winterized, however a small hanfdul are not, suggesting photos likely taken sometime after labour day in any given year.
The pic that mcginnis and LC are referring to is a still shot from news footage from one of the area TV stations' interviews. I agree that it was an editor's poor choice of a picture to use; not sure what s/he was thinking (the editor, that is).

known persons do not torture/kill in such a manner, especially kill a convicted criminal on probation. known persons are not as worried about being turned in be a convicted criminal currently on probation.
victims do not ask "who are you?" and "what do you want?" of known persons.
my original theory still stands; i've not seen one shred of news to discount any part of it.

known persons can be unfriendly persons. in fact known persons can go into a rage. those killings were personal.
and we do not know FOR CERTAIN what the person SAID she heard on phone. that could be a big fat red herring

welcome to my forum Tim! 'DC' eh? i grew up in that area. still consider it home.
I've been reading this blog for a couple days now and figured it was time for me to weigh in with my thoughts. I'm certainly no professional like LC; more of an amateur sleuth.
I also don't but that it was a robery gone bad. I tend to agree with the poster who suggested that this was done to make a statement by someone and to set an example, i.e. "don't fuck with me or my money". If this was just a vanilla robbery - whether the victims and perps knew each other or not - I can't imagine the perps taking the time and going to all that much trouble to tape them both up. Why not just shoot them, or stab them or whatever, and then flee?
Which brings me to another thought: I'm wondering if the toxicology tests might show some evidence of a paralytic being used. Otherwise, it seems like it might take multiple people - not just 2 or even 3 - to subdue two young twentysomethings, put bags over their heads, tape their necks, wrists and ankles (of JC), without a major struggle. That just doesn't make sense to me.
LC: You made reference to another site where they appparently are naming names. Would you mind PMing me witht hat site info? Just curious.
Unknown strikes me as definitely having the inside scoop here.
Tim, you don't have PM ability until i make you a member at some point soon.
but as far as other sites where names are used, i would only suggest googling victims' names. i do not wish to link or promote other sites with different rules than mine. thanks for understanding.
to everyone:
there are people involved in this case that are named all over the place. until LE calls them a person of interest or they have appeared in media, i don't use their names. that's just common decency. especially if they are a juvenile. give your opinions and speculation within certain parameters, it is your First Amendment right.
this is a good place to mention my rules for this forum. this is a good time because MANY people from Ohio have logged on or joined in past few days.
i don't allow vile gossip to be stated as fact. i rely on main stream media, and LE for facts. i also have private contacts and sources i don't mention.
you have complete freedom here with 2 exceptions, no posting any member's personal info, and no threats. also i do not delete posts as i have been asked much after the fact. think about what you are posting. Mock has a no delete policy since it is required that all posters are adults and responsible for what they say. i am not punitive. i am simply covering my cute ass.
I am curious as to what information you have. This has kept me from sleeping, I have strong suspicions as anyone else. I browsed the site where this thread was located to find tht you did in fact remove it. Prob for the best though.

news reports seem to indicate that lisa was clocked on the head based upon the reported pool of blood in her bag. this would also be supported by the fact that her ankles were not bound. no reason to bind the ankles of an unconscious person, however you would want to bind their hands in case they came to before being overcome by asphyxiation.

mzfruit, it would be helpful if you were to, in the future, use the "Quote" button instead of the reply button...that way we can all see exactly which messages and/or users you are replying to.
why would the friend(that was on the phone with young couple) call another friend 2 hours later and then that friend call his mom? I know if it was my friend i heard that I called911 right then and there. that is not sitting well with me.
