Im starting to think that Maytee has found some support some where else other than FB because she hasnt been on as much as she usually is, and I think thats a good thing, or maybe they are getting closer to solving this case and shes keeping it quiet now but saying just enough so no one gets shook meaning the guilty ones??? Just a thought, I could be way off.

I was browsing over some of the picture shots she has up - these pictures sure get to you - as I watched them, I am thinking how could any one from over in the South Side do this! It is unbelieveable & I wish no one in Toledo did such a deed.

A few people have told me about that site. Why is it considered such a joke by people who watch crime? Does it consist only of gossip because that's the impression I'm left with? I'll start a thread about it because I'm curious. Heh heh.

I think Maytee has backed off a bit and I think it's a GOOD THING. I know for a fact that LE has told her to back off and lay low....I guess it just took her some time to heed the warning
I think the billboards are off because they were probably only running for a month or so. I haven't seen any other unsolved crime locally that's been featured in the billboards, which I personally think is kinda sad. here's a thought/question: If we know, which I'm going to assume that we do have some DNA back from the crime scene, and there were no matches or hits (meaning that the DNA that is back doesn't match anyone that's been convicted of a felony in OH)..... does that change anyone's opinion about who the perp is or could be?

I want to talk about the safe again because it's annoying me. I was reading a old Blade article last night & then I read a interview done by a news channel here with Verbosky. He seems certain that the killers were looking for a safe. If a safe never exsisted why would he be so certain of that? This has never made sense to me. OK in the article I read he says that the master bedroom was ransacked "looked like a movie" He says the drawers were pulled out (who keeps a safe in their dresser drawers?) Then he says the pictures were off of the walls (I can understand hiding a wall safe behind a picture) Then he says that the walk in closet had holes punched in it (makes NO sense, you aren't going to install a wall safe & cover it with drywall) At 1st there was no motive, then the motive was determined to be robbery.... yet the only thing that was known to have been missing was $84. No jewelry, no electronics..... Are they basing the motive of robbery off the presumption that the killers were looking for this non-existent safe, that they didn't get because it didn't exist? I dunno that just makes no sense to me. Where did this idea of a safe even come from? From sources that said johnny was bragging about a safe? Well I'd love to know who those sources were & who those sources say he was bragging to..... obviously the sources would have been bragged to by Johnny (or could lead them to who said Johnny was bragging) which would make them suspect IMO IF it's true that Johnny was bragging. Then I keep thinking about what Maytee said a week or so ago about her 1st exchange with Verbosky after the murders. She said something along the lines of : "He asked me if they got the safe & I said how should I know, I don't know what they had to account for what was missing" Maybe there was a safe & it was missing or its contents were gone. If so, why lie about it? Maybe the key that was found under Lisa was the key to the safe, they made her open the safe & took the contents? Again why lie about it? Maybe the diners were in the safe & they didn't take them or dropped some..... Sorry so long & sorry to re-visit a old topic, I've just been thinking about this whole safe thing since I re-read those articles last night. Opinions?

FBait,
Regarding the holes punched in the walk-in closet, could that possibly have been caused by extreme anger and frustration? I can see a person so enraged that they just punched the walls with their fist(s). Years ago I witnessed that happening. Regarding the ransacking, perhaps that was a set-up to make it look like a robbery gone bad when, in fact, the main objective was to murder Lisa and Johnny. IMO, if there had been a safe, it was probably taken by the intruders. More than likely, a residence would not have a large, bulky safe. Of course, all of this is purely speculation - grasping at straws here.

great post FreshBait! I think it's good to "revisit" some things, now that we have more information, less information, different information, etc.
I had a couple of things to add: I'm local, which most of you probably know by now, but one of the first things that I heard, source being LE, but NOT LCSO, was that the crime scene looked as if there had been a fight and/or a major struggle. I heard that things were turned over and out of place, as if there had been a struggle, not so much a ransacking as if it was a robbery gone bad.... what I don't know is what the LE meant when they said that, did they mean just one room, just the living room where the bodies were found, just the kitchen, etc. I didn't really have a chance to clarify what they meant. Then when I heard that LE had "no motive yet"...I was wondering if that was becuase the house really didn't look like robbery gone bad. and then there's the piece about the vents being taken off the walls.....wierd. that definitly speaks to drugs, or maybe someone thought that a safe was behind a vent? I think the other piece here is that we really don't know WHAT was stolen. could it be that something more valuable was stolen and that LE just hasn't released that yet. And I don't know this...but would LE release the info if they knew a LARGE amount of drugs was stolen? (I'm NOT SAYING DRUGS WERE STOLEN....just thinking out loud!) I'm starting to believe that the whole motive here might have been murder. there are so many things that just don't add up. ...and yes I know we don't have alot of facts. so...I'll rephrase...what we do know, doesn't add up

(04-01-2011, 12:07 PM)Teacher Wrote: FBait, Thank you Teacher & yes I agree that the holes in the walls being caused by anger make much more sense then being caused by looking for a safe. In fact, the only thing about the ransacking of the parents bedroom that would lead me to believe that a safe was being sought are the pictures being removed. It is possible that the pictures may have just been knocked off of the walls though if there were some type of struggle in there. I also think it is possible that the ransacking could have been stagged. My dad had a safe when he was living. It was about the size of a milk crate & pretty heavy. It wasn't a wall safe though. He kept in a cabinet on the floor. You needed a combination & key to get it open. It wasn't something you could just pick up & carry out by yourself either. That's all the knowledge I have on safes. I guess I'm just bothered that this whole motive revolves around a safe that according to Verbosky wasn't there & these people supposedly went into the Straubs looking for a safe that didn't exist & when they didn't find it, took NOTHING of value for their troubles? I shouldn't say they took nothing of value because they did take 2 lives & those were beyond valuable but they weren't valuable to them obviously.

oh ya...one more thing. the VERY FIRST thing that I "heard" on the streets, before I even knew this forum existed, before I was even remotely intrigued about this case was that this was about "snitching" and "a safe at Lisa's house". I don't know how much credence I give to street talk, but sometimes there's a little truth to rumor. just sayin'

in the lucas county booking....there's a minor that's been charged with aggravated murder, springfiled twp. I won't say his name, but if I google his name, Toledo Blade articles come up, and I can't read the Toledo Blade at work anymore, now that they've switched it all up..... can someone else do the checking and see what his crime was?
(I hope I'm not in trouble for posting this!!) I'm not saying that he's related to this case at all.... just found this to be interesting.

Then he went on to describe how the Master bedroom, he said Jeff & Mary Beths room, was ransacked & it looked like a movie etc. I don't know where the vents being removed came from. I can't remember if that was in a official story or if that was brought here as rumor. If it's true then I agree that, that sounds like drugs. Especially when combined with evidence seized which was reported by news outlets. Scales & baggies. Just another reason why the "safe" is bothering me. I would have never suspected anything about a safe until Verbosky said that "they were looking for a safe" It's made me question why or how he is so sure of that. Given that it never existed.
