Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
i loved this story from Toledo today~get the tiny little cuffs! hah

Toledo Blade
It's not every day Toledo police catch a thief in the act, let alone with a uniformed command officer standing just feet away, watching. Police

But that's exactly what happened Wednesday.

For days, officers noticed that small flags were disappearing from the Toledo Police Memorial Garden at the Civic Mall, between the municipal and federal courthouses downtown. There were no suspects, no clues left at the scene to help police catch the perpetrator.

But about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, walking into the office, Lieutenants James Brown and Mark King watched the bandit take a flag -- and a single pink plastic flower -- from the garden.

"I just saw him eyeballing it," Lieutenant Brown said. "He didn't know I was standing there."

The quick-thinking officer pulled out his cell phone to snap a picture.

Lieutenant Brown got his man. Or, well, his squirrel.

The squirrel stopped for a split-second, perhaps realizing he had been caught red-handed -- or pawed -- on film to look at the lieutenant.

Then the suspect, who police describe as a red and brown bushy-tailed critter, fled on four paws toward the Safety Building.

"He was too fast," the lieutenant said. "I couldn't catch him."

Word of the furry bandit spread quickly through the department and, before long, his whereabouts were discovered.

The squirrel was seen Wednesday afternoon lounging on a tree branch in front of a third-floor office facing Erie Street. Woven into its tangled nest of branches and leaves were at least two of the small flags. The flower was not visible, but police believe it will be used in decorating.

The accused squirrel was unavailable for comment for this story.

No charges have been filed and police believe the squirrel acted alone in the incident.

Lieutenant Brown said it took the squirrel less than 30 seconds to get the small flag off the wooden dowel.

"He definitely knew what he was doing," the lieutenant said. "This wasn't his first time."

It's unclear how many flags have been taken from the garden, but the lieutenant said at least three are missing.

"I can't prove it was all the same squirrel," he said.

Carefully using his teeth, the squirrel cut the flag away from the post. The flag was not ripped and the wooden post was left intact.

As of deadline, it appeared the squirrel had, at least temporarily, left his nest. He is currently at large.

Thank you for the BIRTHDAY wishes!! When people ask me how I am, I say that I'm good. I woke up today and there weren't any flowers around the bed!!! I'm a quirky old lady with alot of personal interest in this case. Oh, I always like to tell people that I'm the old lady on the Maumee River with the 7 passenger JET boat. I'm so cool. Cheers!

Just tell everyone who asks that you're 29. Then stare them down if they dare question you. It'll work.

Oh, and happy birthday!

Besse Cooper, born around the time the vacuum cleaner was invented, turns 115 years old Friday in Monroe, adding another day and another year to her title as the oldest person in the world. It’s a title she has won, amazingly enough, twice.

At a birthday party in a nursing home that will be attended by family members and a researcher from Guinness Book of World Records, she’ll get her second oldest-on-earth plaque from the organization that certifies who among us is longest in the tooth.

“We thought one was enough,” her son, Sidney Cooper, 76, quipped Thursday.

This year’s celebration will be low key compared to last year’s birthday party that featured an Elvis impersonator [Image: elvis.gif] hahaha But her son said his mom has slowed down this year, although doctors say she is still surprisingly healthy and all her vital signs are normal.

“She still remembers things and thinks clearly and talks,” said Cooper. “But she has her good days and her bad days. I’d say she sleeps about 80 percent of the time.”

It was Lisa's Uncle who asked Maytee did they get the safe? Maytee said how would I know anything about a safe.

There is no safe according to the uncle, so if there is no safe how could Johnny brag about it? even if there was one Johnny loved Lisa and he wouldn't want any nasty thugs coming to the Straub's house to rob them.

Things were possibly tossed around & toren apart to make it look like a robbery IMO

February 15th 2011 Channel 13 News Toledo, Ohio

"It's a safe that Lisa Straub's uncle, Jim Verbosky says was never there. "It never existed," Verbosky says. "When they ransacked the house, they punched holes in the wall, moved pictures down. There's no safe in the house, no money in the house"

And as far as I know . . . both found seated, upright, taped to their chairs.

Calm . . . like Hindu cattle.

That's just Tyler Durden talking . . . not me.

Just a refresher on evidence

Search uncovers evidence at Springfield Twp. murder scene
Friday, February 04, 2011

A search warrant was executed today on the house on Longacre Lane where two young people were killed.
The list of items uncovered includes everything from a DVD to cardboard boxes to cell phone parts strewn about the house. And it raises as many questions as it answers.
Monday morning, inside the house on the 2100 block of Longacre Lane, investigators found the bodies of Johnny Clarke, 21, and Lisa Straub, 20. They were tied up with bags over their heads.
The gruesome discovery launched a major investigation into who killed the young couple and why. Today, investigators also discovered on the kitchen floor white baggie pieces, a light blue lighter and a Ziploc bag. On various kitchen countertops, there were a digital scale, two knives and central security documents.

The items were seized -- taken as evidence -- during a search of the home owned by Lisa Straub's parents. They were on a cruise at the time of the killings.

The list goes on, showing, in the master bedroom, investigators took dinars, currency of Iraq and other countries. Throughout the house, they gathered DNA swabs.

They also found a key with 5-4-4 stamped on it under the body of Lisa Straub. The warrant also describes black/pink interband pants under Straub's neck. Her wrists were taped together, but not her ankles. Clarke's ankles were taped up.

That's one of many details investigators are trying to sort through to help catch a killer. We also know investigators spent yesterday interviewing people, trying to get answers apart from what they found inside the home.

Referring to the last several posts. As I recall (I can't remember what happened yesterday) it was Maytee who said at the police station right after the murders that while she was grief stricken Lisa's uncle ask her if they got the safe. IMO Johnny bragged about a safe just because he could. It probably made him feel self important. I also remember reading someplace, maybe FB, that Lisa's father even gave him a key and he would fan himself with $100 dollar bills. Now if you believe that, I've got some swamp land to sell! Also, I always thought that they were on the floor and the key was found under her head or neck. If they were in chairs she would (I think) had to have been sitting on it. The above article says under her body. From the beginning they spoke of the pink and black pants under her head. ps. I can't imagine Lisa's uncle asking about a safe that that he says never existed!

I wasn't serious about the chairs.

But . . . the newspaper never mentioned if Johnny's wrists were taped.

I know newspapers never make mistakes, so I was thinking . . .

Older Than Dirt This is Maytee's own words about the safe business. We can either believe the statement or not. I believe her about the puppy and I believe what she said about the Uncle.

Maytee at RIP:

RIP Johnny
First of all johnny n lisa lived at our house since they met. second of all when the puppy bit johnnys lil brother it only went with johnny n lisa to her house to be quarantine for ten days till the bite healed then they all came back. Fourth the main residence for johnny n lisa was my house the only time they would go out to her parents house was when they went out of town or just felt lije spending a few days there

And god is my witness and so is everyone present at the station those were his exact words and now theyre all claiming there was no safe. Im fed up with all the liesSee More

NightOwl, I don't know about the dog. I have been told by a very close friend of Lisa's that they (Lisa & Johnny) both hated Maytee. Now I know that there were many photos that would seem to disapprove that. Maybe things changed for them. I have been told that Johnny was not welcome at the Straubs. I think too, that there wasn't an obit published until after Lisa's funeral and that LE was at the funeral home to make sure that Johnny's family and friends didn't show up. There might even have been some friends of Lisa that weren't welcome either. I don't know this for sure, but I think I'm right on the money. I can't think of any reason that the uncle would lie. It has been obvious from the beginning that Maytee lies. You know that she at the beginning tried to put the focus on Lisa. LE has told me that Lisa would not be dead if she had not met Johnny. You know, whatever the real truth is, it's a tragedy. Hope this comes to conclusion soon.
