Thanks Lady Cop. I can use all the friends I can get! Although I have plenty truthfully. Making new friends is always a good thing.

It is so beautiful here and the people are really very cordial and I love the way they call you "Sweetie". I lived in TX for the past 10 years and liked the people there too, but I think NC has them beat in cordiality. I am a native Michigander so am used to nice Midwesterners. Beats the grumps in some areas of the country.

So, your Mom was a native NCarolinan? I'll bet she was soft spoken and good natured.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. I think I'll like it here. I'm known to shoot from the hip, but am usually nice about it and rarely insult people without cause.

Looking forward to many interesting convos and some good input here.

forgive for being sentimental. my Mom was Miss NC in Miss America pageant. when we were kids we went to Kitty Hawk to camp on the beach. i learned manners and taste from her. she flew airplanes too. i love NC mountains. she taught me southern cooking. i get all sappy over NC.
