There was a time many years ago when I too spend most of my internet time on spell check and Thesaurus. It was mainly when I was new to it. Then as more time I spend on it, the more I realized that it is time spend with people who to 80% matter pretty much fuck all. So why bother.

Kind of if you are the new kid in the class and try to show off each and every of your skills to shine in that new found environment, but after some time, once you get to know the other kids, you just can't be bothered as you got suddenly more important things to do, like scoring with the prettiest girl in the class or hitting on that incredibly beautiful 15 years older new teacher with the long, black, curly hair. Well, not everybody of course, but if you're like me, that's how it ends up.

I understand Spanish and speak it enough to get by, but cannot write it fluently (like you and the English language). I come from whitey and chose mathematics and the sciences as my areas of interest instead of language, BUT I don't find it difficult to speak/write fluently.

If you are going to give a good reason to butcher the English language, don't. As I said, it is taught in elementary school. It is laziness if you know better but don't bother.
