I feel the same way about Moe's. Don't yell at me when I walk in or I might walk back out. "Welcome to Moe's!" Fuck that, I read the sign, I know where I am...

Sweetheart..you really, really need to go to a quality seafood joint...chain restaurants may "fill the hole", but they are far from "quality"..especially Joes, as I guarantee you, that nothing they serve is fresh.

Thanks for the warning. I have been to the Ironhill Brewery and it sits next to Joe's Crab shack. Was wondering if I should give it a try but you have talked me out of it.

Meh.. my opinion is just that..an opinion...go ahead and give it a go..really nothing to lose but your hard-earned $$$. You may find that you like it. I for one, don't care for guadish, loud, cheesy atmospheres when I go to a resteraunt..but that can be overlooked if I find the food tasty...in this case, I didnt..so it was the double no-go whammy for me. Obviously some on this board find it to be OK/decent.
Everyone's taste in food varies. Much like a movie... I wouldnt let a food critics bad review of a restaurant keep me from giving it a try.

I live in FL about a block away from the ocean and river. We have an abundance of fresh seafood here, so much that I get sick of it.
The snow and king crab legs, however, are shipped frozen from Alaska no matter what restaurant you get them from here. The quality depends on how long they've been frozen and sitting around. I actually think Joe's has the best ones, they crack open easily leaving nothing but a big succulent, sweet chunk of meat. All I know is that my Joe's crab shack is good, I don't know what the hell is wrong with yours .

I had a kickass crab-claw only meal when we went to Disney World a dozen years or so ago. Pretty sure the name of the joint was Fultons Crab House
Holy fucking shit...one of the best crab meals I've ever had in my life.
It was obvious, that...as advertised..the seafood was flown in fresh daily.

We've been to Fultons several times, I'm about an hour away from Orlando. The crab claws are huge and they have the best raw oysters.

Did they serve the claws hot or iced?
I like my crab steamed and then Iced, nothing quite like it in the world as far as I'm concerned.

As I recall, they were served hot...with a nice bowl of melted butter for dipping. But I hear ya...cold crab kicks-ass too. I fondly remember my first crab louie on the SF bay..damn, that was good shit.

Correct. They have expanded as far west as Lancaster PA, east to Maple Shade NJ, and south to Newark DE. The one I refer to is in Wilmington DE on the Riverfront. Their best brew is Russian Imperial Stout.

I've eaten there 3 times, found them to be overpriced, with small portions, the crab legs I had one time were the sorriest (read small) I've ever seen. The fried things are way too greasy, and the drinks are also very pricey (but gee, you get to keep the glass/plastic cup).
Weird that you don't like Joes but you'll eat a bowl of already chewed-up and spit back out slop from KFC.
Our JCS went out of business years ago. The Red Lobster 2 blocks away is still packed to capacity with a line a mile long by 5:30 every Friday and Saturday night. I never went to Joes, but never heard anything bad about them either when they were here.

i have boycotted red lobster for years now. besides being very fortunate to always live near the ocean, i wouldn't go there for any reason. they get their lobsters from third-world countries (or they used to, i don't know now). they paid free divers chump change to get the bends and end up dead or crippled for life. fuck them.

I've never been there myself. I'm not much for seafood other than when I'm in the tropics and the lobsters are caught right in front of my eyes, and prepared immediately. Doesn't get any better than that!
Okay...now I'm ready to go back to Jamaica.

LOL LC. I have boycotted them forever....never been there. In the 70s
I think, they ran a tv advertisement which showed a lady busting her butt
cleaning and working in the yard and the guy coming home from golf and
saying, "She's done good. I think I'll take the little lady out to lunch."
It infuriated me.

Of all the places I have vacationed Cape Cod was a favorite of mine. I first went in 1970 and loved how far from everything P-town was. It has changed alot and the sunburban sprawl was nipping at P-town when I was there in 1993. Eastern Shore Maryland is threatened too. It has become a way to avoid I-95 from Wilmington to D.C. I wonder if Chestertown has changed since I was there last visiting the eccentric Wilbur Hubbard.

The difference is, I really don't expect a high quality meal for $5. For that type of cash, I expect something that tastes decent, and will fill a hole..nothing more, nothing less...perhaps things are different in your life.
And of course your JCS went out of business, as I said..they suck. Good restaurants don't go out of business..even in a down economy.
Red Lobster is 10 times better than Joes, IMO...and although they've drastically improved over the years, they still are nothing more than a chain restaurant...and a bit overpriced.
