Susan Powell. missing mom. JESUS CHRIST JOSH KILLED THE KIDS!
dirty little insect in court last week.

he couldn't just let his sons grow up and have lives. but it was more important to hurt Susan's family this way.
selfish to the end.
he knew he was going to go to prison in time.
many people, including me, thought he was sick enough to kill the children.
may his remains be flushed into a sewer with the ceremony he deserves.

I hope those children didn't have a clue about what was about to happen.

I have read that the grandparents felt that he would try to harm himself and the kids. If the COURT and anyone involved felt he was NOT stable, why visitation at the home? This will be a nice lawsuit for DYFS that should NOT have happened. If the court felt he was not stable, and felt so strongly about an evaluation, then visitations should have been changed.
I haven’t read anywhere if they stated if the children were scared of their father?

The saddest news I've read today. Rest in peace little ones. :(

10 (2 5-gal. cans found) gallons of gas splashed around house and bodies.

emails sent to tell what to do about his money etc.
gave toys to goodwill. how thoughtful.

no gunshots involved, contrary to rumors.

I was hoping he'd share a prison cell with Scott Peterson. They'd have a lot in common.

Josh Powell's two young sons Charles, 7, and Braden, 5, were severely injured by "chops to the neck" and died from carbon monoxide poisoning proceeding an explosion, the Pierce County Medical Examiner said.

The blows were delivered with a hatchet or small ax, Pierce County Sheriff's deputy Ed Troyer said.

If the explosion happened just moments after the social worker dropped the boys off, the concentration of carbon monoxide must have been really high for them to have died from CO poisoning.

God, I hope the boys didn't see their father swing an axe at them.

I feel sorry for all the children in the community who are now aware of this story. When I was a kid, the idea that a parent would kill their children was in the realm of the impossible. Now all those kids have had some of their innocence stripped from them.

evil.

those boys not only suffered pain and terror, but knew their own daddy was killing them. this is the stuff of horror movies.

KOMO

GRAHAM, Wash. -- Seven-year-old Charles Powell and 5-year-old Braden Powell died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but an autopsy also showed that both boys were attacked by a hatchet, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner.

Released Monday evening, the autopsy results showed that all three members of the family were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.

While it wasn't the official cause-of death, the medical examiner's report showed that both boys had significant "chopping injuries" to the head and neck.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said deputies recovered a hatchet from the burned out rubble where Powell's house once stood.

"We recovered a hatchet - a small ax," he said. "It was right there with them (the bodies)."

Investigators now believe Josh Powell attempted to murder the children with the hatchet, but was overwhelmed by smoke before he could finish the job

pervert garbage steve powell, josh's father in jail for child porn, is on a suicide watch, despite the fact "he was not overly emotional" about deaths. i'm sure that was a DOC/Sheriff's precaution.

but what is interesting is that he has been named a person of interest in Susan's death/disappearance.

I read that they didn't want to go visit him that day. Can't find the article where I originally saw that but this one gives a little bit more explanation(only posting a little piece, full article link is in the headline):

Grandparents of 2 dead boys saw ominous signs in Josh Powell
By Kim Murphy, Los Angeles Times

"It was very hard because they were very devoted to their father. They love him ... but I think they were realizing that their dad was doing things wrong or saying things wrong. Josh did not seem to care about finding his wife, and Charlie, the oldest, wanted very much to start looking for his mom."

On Sunday, the boys expressed reluctance to go to their father's home for their twice-a-week visit.

"The boys were playing with their cousin Patrick, and they said to me they didn't want to go see Dad, and I know with the law they're supposed to go, so I talked them into it," Judith Cox said. "I said, 'Let's go, and you'll be able to play with Patrick when you get back.'

KING 5 News

During Josh Powell's custody hearing last week, a judge took issue with a disturbing picture found during a search of his Utah home two years ago.

It was "a picture, depicting the torso of a woman with a sword from her vagina up to her heart," says Steve Downing, the Cox family attorney.

So instead of allowing him to regain custody of his children, Judge Kathryn Nelson ordered a psycho-sexual evaluation for Powell.

"They are highly intrusive," says Pierce Co. Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. "They go on for several hours. The subject's entire life history is studied. The subject's entire sexual history is studied. The subject undergoes a personality test and all of this is done with a polygraph."

Lindquist says the court-ordered evaluation was a "lose-lose" for Powell.

"Either he refuses to take to take it and he loses custody of his children, or he takes it and reveals information that will cost him custody of his children," says Lindquist.

"He got backed into a corner with taking a psycho-sexual evaluation," says Dr. Dan Singer, a licensed counselor, who has conducted hundreds of these evaluations. "He was upset, he did not want to do that."

Singer believes experts should have realized the court orders could push Powell to the brink, and because of that, reconsidered his visitation with his kids.

he left a voicemail saying he couldn't live without his kids. but they could have LIVED without him!! that entitled him to kill them with an ax and fire?? i hope he is burning in eternal fire.

ABC News obtained the voicemail from Josh’s brother, Michael Powell. It was left just 20 minutes before the murders.
“Hello, this is Josh. And I’m calling to say goodbye,” the message said. "I am not able to live without my sons, and I'm not able to go on anymore. I'm sorry to everyone I've hurt. Goodbye.”

I listened to some bits of this over. Not understanding the language of what they were saying, codes etc. The whole thing at the end was very very eerie. Horrible.

911 call statements from the visitation case worker:

"I smell gasoline, but he won't let me in. He's got the kids in the house, and he won't let me in," the case worker said. "I think I need help right away. He's on a very short leash with DSHS, and CPS has been involved. And this is the craziest thing."

"This could be life-threatening. He went to court on Wednesday, and he didn't get his kids back. And...I'm afraid for their lives," the case worker said.

Also, a new search of a storage unit of Josh Powell's is underway.
