It will become a standard question on all job applications in that state.

Twenty states plus one district outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation, and twelve states plus one district outlaw discrimination based on gender identity or expression.

At the federal level, there is no recognition of same-sex unions and no laws forbidding employment discrimination against LGBT persons.

And some people say political correctness goes too far?, sometimes it doesn't go far enough.

I cannot see anyone changing their employment applications for such a frivolous law. This is another instance of more smoke and mirrors than any substance.

the language of bills/laws is important and open to interpretation.

The Civil Rights Amendment is only for African Americans. All people really want a piece of the civil rights pie, but if you read it, it is only for that particular group (other brown peoples might be included, not sure).

People tend to get the terms "civil rights" and "civil liberties" confused.

Cracker: The Civil Rights Amendment is only for African Americans.

am i mistaken in thinking that the civil rights laws are applicable for everyone? otherwise, why do we have the federal crime of depriving a person of their civil rights? it's even used in murder cases. i don't think only people of color can be victims. i guess i need to read all the Federal Civil Rights statutes.

A civil right is an enforceable right or privilege, which if interfered with by another gives rise to an action for injury. Examples of civil rights are freedom of speech, press, and assembly; the right to vote; freedom from involuntary servitude; and the right to equality in public places. Discrimination occurs when the civil rights of an individual are denied or interfered with because of their membership in a particular group or class. Various jurisdictions have enacted statutes to prevent discrimination based on a person's race, sex, religion, age, previous condition of servitude, physical limitation, national origin, and in some instances sexual orientation.

Civil liberties are rights and freedoms that provide an individual specific rights such as the right to life, freedom from torture, freedom from slavery and forced labour, the right to liberty and security, right to a fair trial, the right to defend one's self, the right to privacy, freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association, and the right to marry and have a family. Within the distinctions between civil liberties and other types of liberty, it is important to note the distinctions between positive rights and negative rights.

Common civil liberties include the rights of people, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, and additionally, the right to due process, to a trial, to own property, and to privacy.
