STEM CELL RESEARCH
#41
I hate to see babies die when they could be saved. Adults can fuck off. Babies, though, throw a wrench in my logical works. Should you use a dead baby to save a live baby? Maybe. Should you use a dead baby to save an adult? No. If it is someone I know? See? It all gets fucked up. That's why I'm not a doctor.

Young women are out there already selling their eggs. I believe that many of them have no idea wtf they're doing. I think some people can't grasp what they're selling unless they've been a parent.

As I understand it, when couples go in for IVF they're given options regarding what should happen to their unused embryos and one of those options is donating them to science. I'm fine with the research under those circumstances. Otherwise many of those embryos would just be destroyed.

The soul thing bothers me. The meat part of it doesn't. Are we meat or are we something more?

Is each life precious? Keep in mind I'm not part of any flock. But each life is precious, right? Unique?

Or do we grow a soul?

I wish I knew. Since I don't, I leave those questions to people who have worked it out and can live with their answers.

Same thing with war, I guess.

I'm not a killer apparently. Sometimes it doesn't pay to think too much about stuff, especially when there isn't a "right" answer. (I'm not anti-abortion, either. Better to not have than to abuse it or starve it or not love it.)

Cracker doesn't know. That's my final answer.

I didn't even think about aborted babies. That is a whole other world of fucked up. I was thinking about lab-fertilized petri dish embryos. Embryos in women are more developed before the carrier even would know she's pregnant.

If you get your soul at conception and end up in some ol' drunk lady's liver, does she then get to be a "young soul?"

I won't eat meat for a few days now because I got to thinking about souls. Good thing I have leftovers. No animals will die for me today.

I was talking about when you said to use adult stems from bone marrow, the placenta and umbilical cords of live babies. I was agreeing with Dick about the cells from aborted babies.

What race are we talking about . . . when it comes to harvesting cells?

Yes . . . the race thing . . . it matters to me.
