Nature vs. Nurture......
#1
Well? I personally think some people are plain born evil but I think most of us are a product of our upbringing and society. You?

Born that way? Sure.

I would probably label it with an appropriate psychiatric condition.

Some are. But do you think nature or nurture plays a more important role in how you turn out?

Cutting to the chase, we have over 12 million black kids in Somalia on the verge of starving to death (and I'm getting ready to send them a hefty donation). And here in America we have black families oversucking the tit of welfare and in England rioting (and being greedy).

So...are black people intrinsically "bad" or is it nurture (or lack of nurture?). Or is it a societal issue?

Do you really think black people are genetically bad? I'm just wondering since that seems to be the gist of recent posts.

What's the ratio of fried chicken joints per capita versus the same ratio in the US?

They also have massive black on black violence, too. What race is really hurting "their" people?

You're white (even though we all know what's in your woodpile) and you're sending money to these folks.

Do you ever wonder what their American 'bruthas and sistas' are ponying-up compared to whitey?

Do you think being born black makes you inherently bad? Or is it a product of upbringing?

We can look at crime statistics and welfare statistics all day long but you have to answer the fundamental question...is it nature or nurture? Black people may contribute WAY more to the crime statistics but do you think it's because of nature or nurture? Simple question.

I don't know.

If it's cultural, then what culture influenced this 'bad' behavior?

Show me the 'faggot' gene for 'bad' and I might believe it's not a choice.

MLK was a man of peace and Idi Amin, not so much.

However . . . both fucked anything that walked.

I guess it depends on what the crime is. Someone who smokes crack and robs a liquor store might be a product of their upbringing and society. Someone who takes pleasure in skinning the neighbors cat alive was probally just born evil.

User you have over simplified the equation, you left out one of the main reasons "choice".

nature,nurture or choice.

you do realise that some people make a very cognative decision to be criminal, poor and uneducated.

to your shock some people choose the life style they have, I chose mine, and maybe you even chose yours, do you believe you were born to live where and how you do? do you believe that your parents raised you to live where and how you do?

many blacks seem to have a penchant for oppression, they seem to thrive in that position, because the only thing keeping them there is themselves.

In a sense, I think so.

So you think Obama's parents raised him to live where and how he does?

That's bullshit, your parents raised you, if you have siblings did you all turn out the same? make the same decisions and live the same way?

everyone ends up where they are by choices THEY make.

I don't think it matters as to what color you are...

Personally, I believe it's more of a social perspective than anything else. When a human being is constantly degraded (for what ever reason) 9 times out of 10, they will turn towards that degradation.

If you are constantly accusing a person of stealing, even if that person has never stolen a thing-he/she will try it at some point, using a thought process like "hey, you think I'm a thief anyway, might as well be one"

It's kind of like that poem:

'A Child learns what he lives'.

Blame everything but the person, it's all about everything and everyone else, the person had no choice but to be a drug dealer, a theif,a poor person with no education.

Speaking only in very general terms, I hold most parents responsible for the little shits they have raised. My parents had very definite expectations in regards to me & my brothers. We always knew what was expected of us & we never questioned it. It would hurt me to disappoint my parents in any fashion, I care a great deal what their opinion of me is.

We are all successful people, both personally & professionally and I believe my parents played a role in that.

I hope you're sitting down....

You're right. I believe that people can choose, or choose not to, overcome (or change) the circumstances of their upbringing. I just think if you take two people born in to similar circumstances (the projects, shitty parents etc.) the fact of their skin color won't necessarily determine who will/won't make the right choices.

Of course you do, I'm just wondering how user accounts for her lush sister?

was she raised different? locked under the stairs while they taught user how to make good choices?

was the nurture different? what about nature? was she born bad?

or did she make choices that created the person she is now.

user set the parmeters of the question where there was no responsibility for individual choices involved in how some people live, and that is just not the reality.

You're right, we are society full of 'It's the other guys fault'.
But how do you explain babies that are born addicted to crack or alcohol?

I don't think they come out of the womb choosing to be addicted, but it will be one strike against them, and how do you reprogram a child that has watched his mother/father/brother/sister/self get the shit kicked out of them on a daily basis?
