The Montana case was on tonight. I hadn't heard of it. IMO, the teen girl was clearly trying to commit suicide.

The unwillingness to take responsibility must be genetic and that girl got it from her father. The fact that they sued the estate of the mother and child she killed was reprehensible - the dad tried to explain it away as just a strategy to get more from the insurance company.

At the end,the girl did finally seem to display some feelings of remorse and understanding of what she had taken from the family of the people she killed - though she was still trying to explain away those text messages.

And the psychologist who testified during the trial - what drivel. I have a BA in psychology - my husband has a PhD and has been an expert witness. IMO, psychologists' testimony is worthless. For anything you can get a psychologist to testify about, there's research supporting the opposite view.

I'm up in the air about this one. Tom's not calling home to see why his wife was late shows consciousness of guilt, IMO. But I don't think that's enough to convict. There are his fingerprints on a sporting goods store bag containing 3 shotgun shells (but no fingerprints on the shells). It would have been pretty stupid for Tom to leave the shells there if he killed his wife. It appears the prosecution wasn't able to find evidence of Tom buying the shells. There's also no evidence tying any shotgun to Tom. And where is the gun? There was a fairly small window of time when Tom could have disposed of it. And where are Tom's blood-spattered clothes? The boys must have seen what he was wearing before they heard the noise that could have been a gunshot. Did LE ever find these clothes?

The boys' hearing a noise that could be a shotgun blast at the approximate time of the murder is somewhat compelling. The noise could have been from another source, but that's a pretty big coincidence.

I tend to discount the niece's story (that wasn't allowed into testimony) that the wife had told her to avoid the porch because of broken glass a week before her murder because if the glass had been broken earlier, I think the wife also would have warned her son and his friend about it.

It sure would have been nice if LE had immediately tested Tom for gunshot residue.

It sounds like the son thinks his father killed his mother -- I can't imagine what it would be like living with a parent whom you suspected of a crime like that.

Same here. I had no idea he was going to be on and about ten seconds after he came on, I couldn't bear to watch him and changed channels. Baez is the definition of "smarmy." But I flipped back a couple of minutes later because my curiosity got the better of me. And, yep, BS meter is off the chart.

1belle - I agree - I'd not leave. I'd stick around hoping for a miracle and that my friend would be found. What is playing over and over in my head is the video of Giordano "casually" seeking help. Good God - if the situation had happened as he had described, any normal person would have been frantic, trying to get help for someone who might possibly have been swept out to sea. And did anyone hear him screaming Robin's name at the beach?

Gricar's disappearance is making news again because of another story in the headlines - the child sex abuse allegations against Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky. Turns out, Ray Gricar was the first D.A to investigate one of those allegations, more than a decade ago. Could there be a link between that investigation, and Gricar's disappearance?

Before I could see no motive for that - but if he got a big payoff from Penn State...

A lot of us complain about our neighbors, but the residents of the building in this story regularly hung out, partied, and did business together. They seemed to see one another as friends. Until the day of a notorious murder when some began to wonder whether one neighbor was actually a mastermind, who saw the others as pawns.
