A teen located by the NBC Action News Investigators denies ever saying a neighborhood handyman "bragged" about a $300 payday for kidnapping Baby Lisa Irwin.

When the investigation for the disappearance of Celina Cass took place, the police searched a wide portion of a nearby river, and eventually found her. Why don't they do the same here? I recall they searched some smallish body of water for one day (and found nothing), but seemingly there is a river close to the parents' house. Why couldn't they bring divers to have a big thorough search? It may be rather late for that, though, sadly...

i said a while back i expect skeletal remains to snag on a river branch/bank one day.

where Celina was found was up against a dam, and was not the same type of big wild river. it was just "good luck" for searchers she was lodged by the dam.

You are probably right. If that's the case there is little chance the baby will be found and the prosecution consequently would have a hard time having a 'case.' Well, it's pretty darn tragic. Anyway, I know little about what's available today in terms of high-tech searching and so, what would be realistic to expect, from human divers to diving equipment to detection of remains in a whatever sophisticated way. I was for some reason pulled into this story and hoping that it might have some redemptive ending. Doesn't look like it. Ah.

Kansas City police have shut down the command post where investigators had been working exclusively on the Lisa Irwin case.

Detectives and FBI agents who had been working as a task force out of a room at Kansas City’s police training academy now are back in their usual offices, police said Tuesday. Police said the move reflected a necessary shift in resources as leads in the case have slowed and other crime cases have piled up.

For more than six weeks, a large group of detectives from the Crimes against Children unit had been focusing solely on finding Lisa Irwin, who was 10 months old when she disappeared Oct. 4 from her home on North Lister Avenue.

But that put a strain on the detectives left in the unit to investigate all the city’s other reported child abuse, sex abuse and neglect cases, police said. The other cases and victims were suffering from the lack of available investigators, police said.

A core of seven or eight detectives will remain assigned to the baby Lisa case, police said, but the detectives now also will take on other cases from their respective units. FBI agents also will continue to work with police at the same level as before, police said.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

About 25 volunteers are out in full force Saturday, despite the rain and cold temperatures, searching for any trace of missing child Lisa Irwin.

The search started at 9 a.m. from the Chouteau Bridge over to Highway 210, most of it on the Cerner property that was formerly Sam's Town Casino.

The search area was based on the vision of a psychic from Texas. She said she saw a river by a tower and other elements that locals connected to this property.

Police have conducted multiple searches in the seven weeks since Baby Lisa disappeared, but they said they will not be participating in this one.

A Search south of the BNSF Rail Tracks near the Missouri River has uncovered an unknown Old Brick Well hidden in the brush. Volunteer Searches discovered this well around 10:30am CST. The well is made out of bricks, 4-5 feet in width and a depth that is unknown. The well has lots of Fall foliage in. Many rusty barrels and old water drain pipes are also in the thicket near the well. KCMO PD was notified by Lead Searcher Edith Fine-Duskin. KCMO PD has yet to respond to the scene.

iReport — At 12:03pm CST, Kansas City, Missouri Police Detective Albertson shows up at the Baby Lisa River Search in Kansas City. Searchers led by Edith Fine-Duskin, led Detective Albertson down a steep embankment to the River Bottom Land next to the Missouri River. Edith Fine-Duskin led the detective to the thicket where an old well made of brick was located. This old well had not been discovered or searched in the months after Baby Lisa’s disappearance.

The well, 4-5 feet across and filled with water and fall foliage and debris was investigated by detective Albertson, along with lead volunteer searcher Edith Fine-Duskin briefing the detective on the find. After 30 minutes of further conversations with volunteer searchers and Edith Fine-Duskin, Detective Albertson led the group of 12-13 volunteers searchers back up the steep embankment to head home. Detective Allbertson had “no comment” on further investigation of the well and Missouri River front.

I wonder if LE will look into the well further then? I don't want to think of this baby anywhere but in a nice warm bed with a full belly but that's not reality. I hope they find something soon, the rest of the world needs closure even if the family has 'moved on' with their lives!

I suspect the lawyers do everything in their power (and imagination!) to keep the status quo as long as possible, or better put, to no end. They did a ridiculously successful job at letting a ton of time elapse to help the case die down. I presume they know very well what took place, whatever that is, or know enough to keep the inquiry going on a slow orbit, and as far from the epicenter of truth as possible. Amazing, what money can buy.

Something interesting to me personally: Debbie (Deb?) apparently failed the polygraph test precisely regarding the question "Where is Lisa now?" or something like that. Well, a while back there was a murder at the school which I attend--an employee assaulted and murdered a graduate student. It did not take too long to zero in on who did it, but before that happened, he, together with a whole bunch of other people close to the events were subjected to the polygraph test. Well, it was when they asked "Where is she now?" that the machine indicator spiked out of control. Sure enough, he knew that, as it was him who did the horrible deed and hid this poor student's remains. So, while a mere similarity of two cases do not make a logical case for a universal rule, I still find it interesting that this woman failed the lie detector test regarding that specific question. I imagine her emotions went haywire when she pictured her daughter's 'location.' Well, may mercy win. And soon.

Hey ya'll, been out a while and not posting. Got another sprinkle on the bad health cookie, as breast cancer came out of nowhere. It'll be ok.

Anyway, I can't imagine how a mother can just get back to normal after a child going missing. Never talking to local media, refusing police interviews, and goodness forbid searching herself, or the father for that matter.

I'm afraid this case is going cold. The police have disbanded, no media coverage to speak of. I call it the Casey Anthony Syndrome. Kill your kid that is an inconvenience and get away with it.

I wonder if those jurors ever wonder what they have done by their judgment. So many babies going missing...I even read where a mother claims that her twin babies died at the same exact time...

This shit just pisses me off. Thanks for letting me vent. Grr......
