I do agree, but put yourself in his shoes. I've got a bad personal relationship with a former coach. I now how a student in my home accusing him of wrongdoing, yet this individual chose not to report it to LE. That alone lends creedence that the accusation might not be truthful.

I don't think that Sandusky was Paterno's enemy at all! Paterno coached Sandusky at Penn State when he was playing football. Sandusky was a grad assistant under Paterno for a year before he left for 2 years to be an assistant coach at other institutions. Sandusky returned to Penn State in 1969 as an assistant coach and remained there until 1999.



As for McQueary, he's done coaching college football.

one of my sons was clearly a very talented athlete from a very young age. my entire life as he grew up was coaches and games...basketball, football, baseball. then colleges recruiting him from 11^th grade in HS., including Miami Hurricanes. he was drafted to pro baseball at 18, and pitched his way through triple A and then college, full ride. during those years i entrusted his welfare to A. my judgement and love, and B. coaches who cared about him, who were father figures and male influences. i read this stuff and i cannot tell you how it nauseates and infuriates and sickens me for those boys/victims. it brings tears to my eyes. truly. my heart goes out to the boys and their families.

You’ve heard the allegations: In 2002, now–assistant coach Mike McQueary witnessed former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, then 58, sexually violating a 10-year-old boy in the coaches’ locker room shower. McQueary told his father as well as head coach Joe Paterno, who passed the buck to athletic director Tim Curley, university vice president Gary Schultz, and university president Graham Spanier. Sandusky’s “punishment”: He wouldn’t be permitted to bring kids onto campus anymore.

If the allegations are true, this much is clear: They’re all at fault. McQueary knew exactly what he witnessed and didn't call 911. (Why hasn't he been fired yet?) The others either knew and are covering it up, or didn't ask the right questions.

Here’s what isn’t clear: At least six men could have called 911. Not one did. Why?

Kip, I think what you wrote is a bit more accurate than what I wrote --- or it clarifies what I meant to say. That is, pedophilia is not really related to hetero or homo sexuality -- it's a fixation onto itself. The point I was trying to make is that it's not uncommon for an otherwise straight male to molest a young boy, because it's not really related to being straight or gay.
