former Penn. State Coach Sandusky charged in child sex case
I don't like this: "Mrs Sandusky, 68, attempted to call one of the victims in the weeks leading up to his testimony...."
Is a tampering with a witness possible??

Why did Jerry Sandusky's wife call abuse victim weeks before his testimony and how much did Dorothy and six adopted children know about Penn State 'paedophile?

Jerry Sandusky’s wife has been largely absent from the analysis of who knew what about her husband’s alleged sexual abuse of eight boys over a 15-year period.

But Dorothy 'Dottie' Gross Sandusky does make an appearance in the 23-page Grand Jury indictment which graphically details the charges against the 67-year-old former Penn State coach. She left a message on Victim 7's phone saying the matter was 'very important' but the man, who told the Grand Jury that as a ten-year-old in 1994, Sandusky hugged and inappropriately touched him, did not return the call.

Part of that alleged abuse took place in the Sandusky family’s State College, Pennsylvania, home, in which Dorothy and her husband raised their six adopted children. Sandusky claimed he and his wife could not have any of their own.

Jerry Sandusky's home

Over the years the couple became the parents to:

Ray, now 46, a businessman living in Nashville,
EJ, 41, former Nittany Lions player, and now a football coach at West Chester University,
Kara, 38, a Penn State graduate,
Jeff, 35, a former Marine,
33-year-old Matt( the adopted son who's wife is trying to get legal papers to keep their kid's away from Sandusky), a Penn State graduate
Jon, who is Director of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns.

Quite how much any of them knew about the sexual abuse, which occurred between 1994 and 2009 with a number of incidents at the family home, is now under scrutiny.

Neither Dorothy Sandusky nor any of her adopted children have yet made a statement on the scandal. Authorities say Jerry Sandusky's home in State College, Pennsylvania, was one of the places he sexually abused several boy

The Grand Jury indictment states that Sandusky selected his young victims from the 'Second Mile', a charity he started in 1977....Mrs Sandusky helped out with the running of the programme.

'After we had taken in some foster children, we saw the opportunities that some kids just hadn't had,' Mrs Sandusky told Sports Illustrated in 1982. 'But we'd gotten to the point where we couldn't take in anymore, so Jerry started thinking about starting a group home.'
{SNIP}
'Whether Mrs Sandusky was worried by any such behaviour is not yet known. What is established is that she has been by Sandusky’s side since the mid-1960s, when they married.

Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, she had met Sandusky in Washington a few years before. He endearingly called his wife 'Sarge,' because she was in charge in their home. The shocking Grand Jury indictment makes repeated accusations that victims were abused inside the couple’s home.

Phone records also confirm that Sandusky made 61 phone calls from his home phone to Victim 1's home phone between January 2008 and July 2009.
{SNIP}
Despite these actions, there is no suggestion whatsoever in the indictment that Mrs Sandusky was aware of her husband's sexual relations with Victim 1 or any of the other seven victims. Experts have suggested that she and her children could well have been kept in the dark.

'[Abusers are] very good at hiding it from everyone,' clinical social worker Farlie Chastain told WRCB TV. 'Very good at seducing the child and manipulating the child not to tell.' ....However, Chastain, adds: 'I've seen it both ways, in which the family knows and is in denial.'

Meanwhile State College police have reported that someone threw two cinder blocks through a bedroom window at Sandusky’s house on Thursday night.

The news came as it emerged that the accused child rapist, who is out on bail, lives close to an elementary school and playground."

Transcript from the interview on Rock Center last night.

Former longtime Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, who has been charged with 40 counts of criminal acts involving sexual abuse toward eight young boys, broke his silence in a telephone interview with Bob Costas on NBC's "Rock Center" on Monday night. In the interview, Sandusky claimed his innocence.

Below is a transcript of the interview in its entirety. Warning: It contains chilling, disturbing content of the alleged crimes.

His denials are not plausible. Of course, I didn't expect him to say, "Prepubescent boys are the hottest!" and he does admit to showering and "horsing around" in the shower with underage boys. Does he think people are stupid enough to think it stopped there?

One aspect of this case I've seen addressed a couple of times and quickly dropped is the family of Jerry Sandusky. What did they know? The facts about his wife and adopted children are few and far between on the web. I have found few facts about Jerry's wife, Dorothy (Dottie) Gross Sandusky. She was born in 1943, lived in Chattanooga TN and married Jerry in 1966. They have 6 adopted children; (ages at adoption uncorroborated) 3 adopted in infancy, 2 adopted either in pre-teen or teen years and one adopted as an 18 year old adult (corroborated). There are 5 boys and 1 girl ranging in age from 33 to 46. Jerry has given the reason for their adopting 6 children as "we couldn't have any of our own".

Jerry's nickname for Dottie is "Sarge" as she is in charge in their home. They have lived in their current home 13 years (uncorroborated). It has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

This is the total information I could find on the 'net about Sandusky's family. We have article after article about Joe Pa, McQueary, Penn State, Second Mile, contractors, janitors, Governors and ice cream flavors, but crumbs about the very person who may have known the entire time about the child abuse (allegedly) perpetrated by Jerry Sandusky.

If Dottie really did not know until the grand jury investigation, she is as much a victim of Jerry as anyone else (not in the sexual/physical aspect but in the emotional aspect) she has had her trust and loyalty betrayed for over 40 years. Her good name will be dragged through the mud along with Jerry's and her legacy will be one of shame.

If Dottie had suspicions, or actually knew about the (alleged) sexual abuse of children in her own home, this would be more than enabling Jerry's behavior. It would be aiding and abetting a child molester. Maybe a lawyer or LE on this board can answer this: If it could be proven that she knew, could she be charged as an accessory?

I have my theory on what she knew, when she knew it and why, but would like to throw this out for discussion. Disclaimer: My opinions are just that, opinions, not facts.

A member of Jerry Sandusky's family made one of two new allegations of child sexual abuse against the former Penn State assistant coach, The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa., reported Wednesday.

Sandusky’s attorney, Joseph Amendola, told the newspaper the allegation is the result of difficulties within the child’s immediate family and that the alleged assault happened before Sandusky was arrested earlier this month...

And they didn't just have adopted kids, they had foster kids, too. Plus living in a house with a view of a school playground; that's like catnip for that guy.

She had a great life, lots of money and she didn't even have to blow her husband to get it.

Money isn't everything. I can think of many things that are way more important...like integrity & self respect for example.

Money was her everything, she had no self respect and she still doesn't exhibit any.

She bought and paid for her friends with her husbands position, she doesn't know anything else.

Her life was based on the "appearance of importance" which surrounded her husbands job.

They probably couldn't have kids of their own because they didn't have sex. I think she knew of her husband's deeds, in the back of her mind, but chose to turn a blind eye toward it. Sick. Sick. Sick.

True, RJs-Ex, they probably did not have normal sexual relations. I am not a psychiatrist but Sandusky is almost certainly a fixated pedophile. This type of offender is not sexually attracted to adults of either sex, but only to (usually) prepubescent children.

Pedophilia (US) or paedophilia / pædophilia (UK), from the Greek παιδοφιλια (paidophilia) < παις (pais) "boy, child" and φιλια (philia) "friendship", (ICD-10 F65.4) is the condition of people whose primary sexual attraction is toward prepubescent children. It is a chronophilia, i.e. a paraphilia in which the paraphile's sexuoerotic age is discordant with his or her actual chronological age and is concordant with the age of the partner. It is often used informally to describe people attracted to adolescents, or to describe child sex offenders. Pedosexuality is used as a synonym.

I believe that Sandusky and Dottie had an agreement. It may not have been a spoken deal, but it was a deal nonetheless. They married, giving him an appearance of normalcy. He was able to have unfettered access to young boys for his sexual needs. She had a husband and a comfortable living. Once they adopted their 3 children as infants, she had her kids too.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Sandusky never touched the three kids they adopted as infants. Dottie probably protected them from him. The three they adopted as teenagers-I wouldn't be as sure about.

If you look at the facts of the grand jury presentment, Dottie was there when the boys were taken to bowl games, tailgating, and when they spent the night in her home. She is either the dumbest person on earth or she knew exactly what was happening and did nothing about it.

Syracuse, New York (CNN) -- Syracuse University has fired Bernie Fine as an assistant men's basketball coach, a school spokesman announced Sunday night, hours after new reports arose regarding his alleged sexual abuse of boys.

"At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine's employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately," Kevin Quinn said in a statement, referring to Syracuse Chancellor Nancy Cantor.

Fine was placed on administrative leave earlier this month, after former Syracuse ball boy Bobby Davis and his stepbrother, Mike Lang, accused him of molesting them.

Police opened an investigation on the matter on November 17, Syracuse police Sgt. Tom Connellan said.

The Syracuse-based Post-Standard newspaper and ESPN both reported Sunday the existence of a recording of a 2002 phone conversation that they said Davis had recorded between him and the coach's wife.

Davis provided the recording to the Post-Standard soon after it was recorded, but the newspaper then declined to report on it because it couldn't find "witnesses, enough corroborating evidence or a second accuser."

The wife, Laurie Fine, at the time suggested to the Post-Standard that Davis had taped her on multiple occasions and edited the recordings to make them appear more inflammatory.

In the tape, a woman -- which ESPN, citing experts, claims was Laurie Fine -- said she knew "everything that went on" with her husband, adding that "he thinks he's above the law."

"Bernie has issues ... and you trusted somebody you shouldn't," the woman said, speaking to Davis.

The woman appears to acknowledge an inappropriate sexual relationship between Davis and Bernie Fine, saying, "It's just wrong and you were a kid." She also said that her husband should "find (himself) a gay boy, get your rocks off."

Repeated calls by CNN to Laurie Fine were unanswered Sunday, and no one answered repeated knocks on the door of her house.

Bernie Fine's attorneys, Donald Martin and Karl Sleight, released a statement Sunday declining to comment on the reports.

"Any comment from (Fine) would only invite and perpetuate ancient and suspect claims," the lawyers said. "Mr. Fine remains hopeful of a credible and expeditious review of the relevant issues by law enforcement authorities."

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that ESPN had this recording 8 years ago and didn't bring it to LE? As in the Penn State case, we have adults knowing about abuse of kids and letting it go on.

I'm sure if Bernie's a child molester, it wasn't just those 2 boys. Waiting for more victims to come forward...
(Not saying I doubt the boys' stories, btw)

Penn State is square assed responsible for this BS. SOmething I just can't understand, is the first guy, the asst coach, walked in on sandusky rapiing a 10 year old boy, and allowed him (sandusky) to survive? I don't understand that at all, every primal fiber in me would have been dedicated to killing that asshole.

A New York prosecutor says he cannot bring charges against a former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach but find that two men who accused him of sexual abuse are credible.
A federal probe is ongoing into the accusations against fired coach Bernie Fine, but Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says he won't pursue a state case.

Three men have accused Fine of molesting them when they were boys.

Hall of Fame Coach Jim Boeheim ,who is still being questioned about what he might know related to the claims, at first defended his long-time assistant and said the accusations were about making money. Victims' advocates called for him to resign; he later apologized to the accusers.

Accusations from two former ballboys happened too long ago to be prosecuted.
Fine has denied the abuse allegations. He was fired Nov. 27.
