A family of five, including three children, were killed in the blaze which completely destroyed their home Christmas morning at 5 AM

'It is a terrible, terrible day for the city of Stamford,' Mayor Michael Pavia told reporters at a news briefing at the scene of the fire.

'There probably has not been a worse Christmas day in the city of Stamford.
Acting Fire Chief Antonio Conte said desperate attempts by firefighters to rescue the family were thwarted by the intense flames and heat.
'We just couldn't get to them,' Conte told reporters clearly emotional having witnesses the horrific scenes faced by all of the emergency crews.
The experienced fire chief broke down in tears when asked how the crews were dealing with such a tragedy during the press briefing.

Police Sergeant Jerri Weary tells Channel 3, four adults and five juveniles were shot during a fight involving about 400 teens, leaving a party from Fathom. Weary says, the nine victims were hit when one of the gang members fired random shots at the crowd, causing a member of the opposing gang to fire back.

STAMFORD, Connecticut — A fire tore through the home of an advertising executive in a tony neighborhood along the Connecticut shoreline Sunday, killing her three children and both of her parents on Christmas morning.

Madonna Badger, who bought the large Victorian home last year, was able to get out of the house, along with an acquaintance.

Police Sgt. Paul Guzda said Badger’s three daughters — a 10-year-old and 7-year-old twins — were killed. He said her parents, who were visiting for the holiday, also died. Police officers drove Badger’s husband, Matthew Badger, from New York City to Stamford on Sunday morning.

Guzda said the male acquaintance was a contractor who was doing work on the home. Badger, an ad executive in the fashion industry, is the founder of Badger & Winters Group. A supervisor at Stamford Hospital said she was treated and discharged.

Of course, it's easy to sit here and say I'd do this and that, but I believe if I knew my kids were in my burning house, I'd stay in the house and try to get them out. I can't imagine just running out the front door and waiting.

However, if I knew my kids were in that inferno, I'd most likely make myself do it. That's what I believe.

I keep a powder fire extiguisher under my bed and one in the kitchen and garage I have one in the cellar and I get them updated every year through work with the exchange program. All the alarms are up to date in every room also. I could not live if something that terrible happened to my family and would rather die with them.
That woman will end up commiting suicide or drinking herself to death now. A fire is a horrible way to die.
