FIRE! a Christmas horror
#81
OMG I knew it too! I thought when I saw this that something was "on the nose" (aussie slang meaning something not right).

It was when they were at the press conference the woman covered her face, it was almost a sign of guilt. I thought something was wrong, that all the kids died and they survived. Sickos.

They are now being charged with murder

The parents of six children who died in a house fire in Derby has been charged with their murder, police confirmed tonight.
Michael Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, will appear in court tomorrow morning accused of killing the children, who died after a blaze at a house in Victory Road, Allenton, Derby, on May 11.
Five of the children - four boys and a girl - died on the day of the fire. Their 13-year-old brother died the following day.

The charges were confirmed tonight by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
A spokesman said: 'The evidence was reviewed by a Crown Advocate from the CPS East Midlands Complex Casework Unit, who decided that there was sufficient evidence to charge and that it is in the public interest for a prosecution to take place.
'It is important to note that the defendants are entitled to a fair trial and nothing should be said or reported that would prejudice that right.'
The charges follow a recent appeal for information by Derbyshire Police.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Connecticut prosecutor says he will not file criminal charges related to a Christmas morning fire that killed three girls and their grandparents.

The fire killed 7-year-old twins Grace and Sarah Badger, 9-year-old Lily Badger and grandparents Lomer and Pauline Johnson.

Officials say it was started by embers in a bag of discarded fireplace ashes.

Stamford State's Attorney David Cohen said Friday that some precautions were taken and that while in hindsight they were insufficient, they did not rise to the level of criminal negligence.

The girls' mother, Madonna Badger and her boyfriend Michael Borcina escaped the fire.

Last week, Badger filed a notice of claim arguing that Stamford officials destroyed evidence and violated her civil rights when they gave an order to tear down the 116-year-old, three-story home the day after the horrific blaze. Is someone going to sue Ms. Badger on behalf of those who died in the fire? She violated their civil rights by being a dumbass.

The loss of the burnt evidence prevents Badger from obtaining compensation for the “extreme emotional distress and mental anguish” she suffered, the legal notice says. Compensation? For what? Being an asshole who killed your kids through your own negligence? UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!!

Stamford’s buildings department had the remains of the $1.7 million Victorian-style home destroyed on the grounds that it was a public safety hazard.

In February, Badger’s lawyer, Richard Emery, denounced that decision as “outrageous.”

Last month, Badger’s estranged husband, Matthew, filed his own notice of intent to sue the city, claiming officials were negligent in inspecting construction work at the home.

They were told to wear bright colours in order to celebrate the lives of six innocent children killed after a house fire tore through their home.

But mourners could not contain their grief when the six little white coffins containing the bodies of the Duwayne, 13, Jade, 10, John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six and five-year-old Jayden Philpott arrived on horse-drawn carriages at St Mary's Catholic Church in Derby town centre this morning.

Jade and four of her brothers died when the devastating fire engulfed their home in Allenton, Derby, in the earlier hours of May 11. Their older brother Duwayne died two days later in Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Hundreds of family members, friends and members of the public wishing to pay their respects gathered at the church and on a foot bridge opposite to watch as the funeral cortege arrived.

The hearse carrying Jade's coffin had led the procession with a horse sporting a pink plume of feathers. Five more carriages with horses wearing blue feathers followed, carrying Jade's brothers.

The children's parents Mick, 55, and Mairead, 31, who have been charged with murdering all six in the May 11 blaze, were not allowed to attend the funeral.

A mother who tragically lost her three daughters and parents in a house fire three years ago has found love and remarried.

Madonna Badger lost nine-year-old Lily and seven-year-old twins, Sarah and Grace, plus her parents, Pauline and Lomer Johnson in the fire at her Stamford, Connecticut, home on Christmas morning 2011.

Ms Badger, 50, has tied the knot with real-estate broker William Duke and posted a joyful picture on Facebook of them smiling on the steps of St John-St Matthew-Emanuel Lutheran Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
