Well bless your heart, it is not a joke at all. All these young kids being recruited have my sincere good will. Just haven't seen any recruits in my area doing it out of honor, or a sense of duty to their country. Mostly because it is the best thing going for them at the time. Touchy topic, huh.

Some people get married young because it's the best thing going for them at the time. Some go to college for the same reason. Some join the military. Choosing the best thing doesn't mean every other option is shit. What the hell is wrong with choosing the best thing going?

I suspect Cracker is actually very insecure which causes her to feel competitive towards other women. She's constantly bragging about her cooking, her (probably delusional) youthful good looks and slender figure, her higher intelligence and how people (men) would prefer her over Ramsey and me. She even asked who "they" like better, her or me. When she feels someone is challenging her or perhaps drawing attention away from her perceived areas of fame, she starts posting like a madwoman on meth, trying to discredit and embarrass.

For the life of me, I can't tell why you don't hide yourself in shame. If that is what I have to look forward to in my 50's, I don't want to live that long. At what point do you look at yourself and think, "Eh, that looks okay"?

It makes sense to me if one believes that the war is not really a fight to protect freedom and that people are being recruited into the military and putting their lives on the line under false pretenses (or because they don't think they have other respectable options). I don't like the idea of people being misled into do anything dangerous.

But, I think most who join the military today are aware of the risks. Some that I know chose the military because they are patriotic and because they believe they are fighting to protect freedom. Many of them have a family history of military service. Others joined because they believed the future benefits are worth the risk and see it more as a job or career path. Fisherman, miners, ranchers, airline pilots, riggers, roofers, police officers; all ranked among the most dangerous jobs. Some with fatality rates per 100,000 exceeding those of soldiers stationed in Iraq consistently from year to year. Many holding down those dangerous jobs probably do so because it is their best option at the time due to passion, locale, family tradition or the money is considered good. All honorable choices, in my opinion.
