I was reading some of the comments written by members of the family on FB, and there was mention of family being involved in demolition derbies....and mention of a dispute/anger over a $3,000 car, but no details. I don't see any of this mentioned in the news media so thought it was worth a mention......

I didn't want to interrupt the NFL thread; copied Cutz's post here for follow-up.

I had a guest professor/speaker today for Quant decision making. He said he had to get grades in by today for his Executive MBA class he was teaching in New Orleans for a lot of sports professionals. Former and current players who own businesses and such and want a career after sports. He brought the finals on the plane because it's a great way to get stuff done and pass the time. The name on the top final was Will Smith's. Man.

I read a little while back that the shooter was going to use a stand-your-ground defense because, he claimed, Smith was the aggressor in the fender bender and he was in reasonable fear for his life when Smith came at him after the accident.

I think that's gonna be a hard sell given he shot Smith 8 times and shot Smith's wife too.

Anyway, today a grand jury indicted Cardell Hayes of second degree murder against Will Smith and attempted murder of Smith's wife Racquel.

Chandra Levy Case -- Murder Conviction Overturned

I feel so badly for the Levy family. Once again, they're left wondering what really happened to Chandra and who's responsible.

[Image: chandra-levy-320.jpg][Image: gcondit2.jpg]

The 2001 disappearance of the 24-year-old Levy (center) created a national sensation after the Modesto, California, native who was in Washington as an intern for the Bureau of Prisons was romantically linked with then-Congressman Gary Condit (right). The California Democrat was at one point a prime suspect in the investigation, police acknowledged. Condit's political career was destroyed.

Eventually, police cleared Condit and in 2009 charged Ingmar Guandique (left) with Levy's murder. Guandique had already been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for attacks on female joggers in Rock Creek Park, and prosecutors argued Levy's death fit the pattern of those attacks. He was found guilty in 2010 and sentenced to 60 years in prison.

But Guandique was granted a new trial last year after doubts were raised about jailhouse informant Armando Morales, the key witness at Guandique's trial. Morales testified that Guandique confessed to the killing.Defense lawyers have argued that Morales lied during the trial and that prosecutors knew or should have known the testimony was problematic.

"It is now clear that the jailhouse informant, who was central to the government's case, was a perjurer who too easily manipulated the prosecutors," Guandique's lawyers said in their statement Thursday. Had the retrial moved forward, his lawyers also put together a case pointing the finger back at Gary Condit as the murderer. They planned to present witnesses who had been involved with Condit sexually and who claimed he was overly aggressive and could be scary with bondage and such.

The U.S. Attorney's office said the charges were dropped "based on recent unforeseen developments that were investigated over the past week." Guandique will be turned over to ICE for likely deportation to El Salvador. The U.S. Attorney's office did not provide details or indicate if they were now focusing on a different suspect.

Ashton Sachs (^ left) was a 19-year-old University of Washington student when his parents were murdered and his younger siblings were shot in the family's Southern California home in 2013. His teen sister was unharmed and his 8-year-old brother was shot and paralyzed.

After his cell phone records contradicted his story and placed him near the scene of the murders at the time, he denied any involvement, stayed by his little brother's side at the hospital, feigned grief, petitioned to adopt his younger siblings, and was defended by some members of his parents' families.

Sachs has since confessed and pleaded guilty. The motive is still unclear. He has only told police he didn't have a reason, just a bunch of problems.

He's 22 now and is expected to receive life in prison when he's sentenced next month.

Update post #286

A Santa Ana, CA judge threw the book at Ashton Sachs. Good.

Judge Prickett explained to the court how he carefully weighed his sentencing decision with the law and the facts, highlighting the shameless brutality of Sachs’ actions – pointing out that he shot his father 10 times including in the face, and his mother 12 times. Then Prickett acknowledged how Ashton needlessly shot his brother, an “innocent 8-year-old child in his sleep,” and similarly fired a shot at his sleeping younger sister who was unharmed.

Sachs was sentenced to 4 consecutive life sentences for his crimes against his family.

An HIV-positive fugitive wanted for decapitating his relatives, sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl and a string of shootings has been killed in a police shootout.

^ Michael Dale Vance Jr, 38, from Oklahoma, was 'pinned down' and shot dead in a 'dramatic' stand-off with state troopers on Sunday - ending a week-long manhunt.

Earlier in the day, Vance shot Dewey County deputy Clay Sander in the arm, leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vance, who had been on the run for eight days since the savage murder of his uncle Ronald Wilkson, 55, and his wife Valerie, was spotted at a camp site near Hammon in western Oklahoma.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) helicopter then sighted Vance in a stolen vehicle and he was pursued for half and hour before being shot dead by the trooper at 10.15pm. Good riddance.

I know I posted about this evil dipshit duo way back, but can't find the original post.

^ Steven Gordon and Franc Cano were convicted sex offender on parole, each fitted with court-ordered ankle bracelets, who still managed to team up and kill at least four prostitutes in Orange County, California.

They are truly evil personified. Serial predators who raped and killed for thrill and then tossed their victims like garbage.

Steven Dean Gordon fired his public defender and insisted on representing himself in his trial.

Gordon made little effort to defend himself at trial in Orange County Superior Court, however. Instead, he raged against his codefendant and railed against the parole and probation departments once charged with monitoring him as a sex offender, scolding agents for not watching him more closely.

It took jurors about an hour Thursday to find him guilty of murdering four women who were working the prostitution corridors of Anaheim and Santa Ana in late 2013 and early 2014.

Jurors will gather again next week for the penalty phase of the trial, to decide whether Gordon, 47, should be executed or spend the rest of his life in prison.

Three of the named victims — Kianna Jackson, 20, of Las Vegas; Josephine Vargas, 34, of Santa Ana; and Martha Anaya, 27, of Santa Ana — vanished and were never found.

The body of the fourth — Jarrae Estepp, 21, of Elk City, Okla. — was found at a recycling plant in Anaheim in March 2014. Police believe there may also be a fifth unidentified victim.

Gordon admitted to participating in the abduction of all four women and of either abetting or committing the murders in league with codefendant Franc Cano, who is expected to go on trial next year.

A Green Pay Packers fan stabbed his brother, a Cowboys fan, to death in an fight over Sunday's game.

Justin Dale Boyer, 40, was killed by his 46-year-old brother Robert Boyer during a visit to his Las Vegas home, according to police.

The brothers, who had both been drinking, had got into an argument on Sunday night after watching the Packers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 34-31.

Neighbor, R. Lewis, found Justin with stab wounds at his own front door at around 11.30pm on Sunday and called 911.

Justin was rushed to Spring Valley Hospital and then to University Medical Center (UMC), where he later died.

His brother Robert, who was also injured in the scuffle, was treated at the hospital.

Police have ruled Justin's death a homicide but investigators believe that Robert was acting in self defense.

Sometime late in the evening of Nov. 21st, 46-year-old Mark Walker heard what he thought sounded like a door slamming.

He got up and checked the house. Mr. Walker peered into his 16-year-old daughter's room and was relieved to see her sleeping in her bed.

The next morning at 6:30 a.m., Mrs. Walker went to wake their daughter, Emma, and found that she'd actually been shot. Emma was dead.

It didn't take police long to hone in on Emma's ex-boyfriend, 18-year-old William Riley Gaul (pictured above with Emma).

Emma had broken up with the Marysville College football player two weeks prior. Gaul was arrested at 11 pm the next night.

Gaul had posted about his love for Emma frequently on social media. After Emma was found dead, he continued to do so.

Yesterday, a warrant in the case was released. It revealed that Gaul's grandfather had reported a revolver missing from his truck 3 days before the murder. Gramps had switched vehicles with Gaul a couple of days earlier.

When LE arrested Gaul, he had the revolver which is believed to be the gun used in Emma's murder.

Police contend that Gaul crept up to the Walkers' home in the night and shot two bullets through the external wall into Emma as she lie sleeping.

It's not revealed whether Emma died instantly or slowly. I sure hope it's the former and she didn't suffer. If she instead slowly bled to death after her father had checked her room and falsely believed she was soundly sleeping, I imagine it would add even more anguish to losing his daughter so senselessly.

Sad case. RIP Emma Walker.

The slenderman stabbing case decision is coming up in February.

The Slender Man stabbing occurred on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee, when two 12-year-old girls allegedly lured another girl of the same age into the woods and stabbed her 19 times, purportedly in order to impress the fictional character Slender Man. After being stabbed, the victim crawled to a road and lay on a sidewalk where a cyclist found her and called 9-1-1. She was rushed to a hospital, at which point she was "one millimeter away from certain death," according to a criminal complaint. The victim was hospitalized for six days and has since recovered and returned to school.

Update to Post #294

Man, money talks, that's a fact. Accused murderer William Riley Gaul's family posted $1.3 million dollar bond and he is now out of custody. He's on house arrest and must wear an ankle monitor. Big whoop. Affluenza-boy skipped the country under authorities' noses and several criminals have committed crimes while where their ankle monitors.

Anyway, here's the latest:

KNOXVILLE, TN - The ex-Maryville College football player accused of fatally shooting his former high school girlfriend has been released on bond.

William Riley Gaul, 18, has been indicted on seven charges: first-degree murder, aggravated stalking, theft, tampering with evidence, reckless endangerment, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony and felony murder.

On Nov. 21, investigators say Gaul stood in the fenced backyard of 16-year-old Emma Walker and fired a gun into her bedroom. The popular Central High School cheerleader was killed as she lay in bed. The indictment alleges that Gaul stole the gun from his grandfather.

Gaul, whose arraignment was postponed on Monday, was being held at the Knox County Jail on a $1 million bond. He was released on bond and is no longer in custody, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

He's due back in court for arraignment on Feb. 13.
